“Copyright-free” AI music is not automatically free of copyright, free to use commercially, or guaranteed safe for every project. On a Samsung Galaxy phone, you can create and download music with several listed services, but the permission to use a track depends on the service’s terms and, in some cases, the plan active when you generated it. In the United States, the Copyright Office says music generated entirely by AI is not copyrightable; human-authored contributions to a mixed work may be protected.
What “Copyright-Free” Means For AI Music
Services use labels such as “royalty-free,” “commercial license,” and “copyright-free” to describe different things. A royalty-free or commercial-use license may let you use a track in specified projects without paying a royalty each time. It does not, by itself, mean that the track has no copyright or that you own an exclusive copyright in it. Read the service’s terms for the particular track and intended use.

The U.S. Copyright Office’s January 2025 report says prompts alone do not make a person the author of AI-generated material. If a work combines AI output with human-authored material, only the human-authored parts may be protected. So there are two separate questions: what rights the service grants you to use a track, and what parts of your finished work may qualify for copyright protection. A service’s commercial license answers the first under its terms; it does not settle the second.
