Paid Suno subscribers own the songs Suno creates for them under Suno’s stated terms. That contractual permission covers uses such as background music in videos and album publication. A free-plan song does not include commercial rights. Ownership in Suno’s terms is also different from copyright: the U.S. Copyright Office says material generated entirely by AI is not copyrightable, while original human-authored parts of a mixed work may be protected.
What “Own” Means In Suno’s Terms
| Situation | What The Available Evidence Establishes |
|---|---|
| Free Plan creation | The Free Plan has no commercial rights. Treat the output as noncommercial unless Suno’s current terms say otherwise. |
| Paid subscriber creation | Suno says songs made as a paid subscriber are yours to keep and use, including in videos or an album. |
| Copyright protection | Entirely AI-generated material is not copyrightable under the U.S. Copyright Office’s January 2025 report. Human-authored contributions can be protected. |
| Copyright registration | If a work contains more than a minimal amount of AI-generated material, applicants must disclose it and describe their human contribution. |
Which Suno Plan Gives Commercial Rights?
Suno lists paid access from $8 per month. Its Pro information says paid creators receive commercial-use rights; the directory details also list 2,500 credits per month and a limit of 20 song downloads per month. Suno separately describes Pro as allowing up to 500 songs per month. Those are different measures, so check the current plan page before budgeting a project.

The Free Plan includes 50 credits per day and permits an audio upload of up to 8 minutes, but it does not include commercial rights or stem separation. Both paid plans receive a 20% discount with annual billing. Suno Studio is limited to the Premier Plan.
What This Means On A Samsung Galaxy Phone
Suno is available on Android as well as the web and iOS. On a Galaxy phone, sign in to the Suno app or website, select the plan whose rights match your intended use, and keep a record of the account and plan active when you create the song. Export only after checking whether your plan’s download limit fits the project.

Prompt A Song For A Specific Use
For a Galaxy video, write a prompt that states the role and musical details without naming a real performer: “Create a 45-second upbeat electronic instrumental for a vertical travel video, with a clear opening, a quieter middle for narration, and a clean ending.” Suno describes generation of vocals, lyrics, instrumentation and production from a text prompt, across every genre.
Keep Your Human Contribution Clear
Add your own lyrics, arrangement decisions or recorded parts when you want a clearly identifiable human contribution. Save those source files and notes with the exported Suno version. The Copyright Office’s guidance makes the distinction material: your original additions may be protectable even when the AI-generated parts are not.

Voices, Covers And Uploaded Audio Need Extra Care
Do not treat paid-plan ownership as permission to impersonate a person, upload someone else’s recording, or make a cover for any purpose you choose. Obtain consent where a voice or performance is identifiable, and read Suno’s current terms for uploads, voices, covers and commercial use before publishing. Suno’s stated ownership promise does not replace permissions that may belong to another person.
Publishing A Suno Track
Keep the plan and rights record, identify which lyrics, recordings or edits you supplied, and check the destination service’s rules. Spotify announced that vocal impersonation is allowed only when the impersonated artist authorizes it, and it supports AI disclosures in credits. It also introduced an AI Persona badge for artist identities that may be AI-generated. YouTube requires a label for realistic altered or synthetic content that could be mistaken for a real person’s performance, and its inauthentic-content policy targets mass-produced or repetitive uploads.

The Direct Answer For Galaxy Users
If you made the song while subscribed to a paid Suno plan, Suno says you own it for the uses described by its terms, including commercial uses. If you made it on the Free Plan, commercial rights are not included. In either case, copyright protection depends on your human-authored contribution, and voice, recording and platform-disclosure rules still apply.
Check Suno’s current terms and plan details before releasing the track. For copyright-registration questions, see the U.S. Copyright Office AI report.
