For AI-generated music, credit depends on what a person actually created, what the platform’s terms grant, and where the track is published. Under the U.S. Copyright Office’s January 2025 report, music generated entirely by AI is not copyrightable in the United States; a prompt alone does not make its writer the author. Human-written lyrics, melody, arrangement, or other human-authored material in a mixed work may be protected, but the AI-generated material is not protected just because someone prompted or edited it. The U.S. Copyright Office’s AI report also says applicants registering a work with more than a minimal amount of AI-generated material must disclose it and describe the human author’s contribution.
What “Credit” Means For An AI Track
Credit can refer to authorship, a platform’s permission to use a track, attribution required by a free plan, or a streaming service’s disclosure about AI. These are separate questions. A paid-plan commercial license can grant permission under a platform’s terms without establishing that the AI output is copyrightable or that the user authored every part.

- Authorship: Record the human work you contributed, such as lyrics or a melody you wrote. A prompt by itself does not make you the author under the Copyright Office’s stated position.
- Permission to use: Check the generation plan’s terms before releasing or monetizing the track. A license from a platform is not the same thing as copyright ownership.
- Attribution and disclosure: Follow any plan-specific credit requirement and any destination platform’s disclosure rules. Neither one automatically answers who authored the music.
How To Keep A Clear Record On Your Galaxy Phone
Keep a simple record as you create. On a Galaxy phone, save your lyric drafts and notes alongside the exported track, and write down which parts you wrote, which parts the AI generated, and any changes you made afterward. This makes it easier to describe your human contribution accurately if you distribute the work or apply to register it.
- Write down the lyrics, melody, or arrangement you created yourself before generation.
- Save the prompt and identify the parts the service generated, such as vocals, lyrics, or instrumental music, when applicable.
- Keep the plan name and the platform’s current terms or license with the track. Terms can differ by plan; check the vendor’s site for the conditions that apply to your account.
- When publishing, use accurate credits and make any disclosure required by the distributor or service. Do not describe an AI-generated voice as a real performer who did not authorize that use.
What The Listed Music Services Say About Rights And Attribution
The following statements describe the supplied service information, not a guarantee of copyright protection. Check the linked vendor terms for your exact plan and release. For vocals, covers, samples, or voice cloning, use only material and voices you have consent to use, and check each platform’s terms; the available information here does not establish permission for a particular voice, cover, or sample.

| Service | What The Supplied Information Says | What To Check |
|---|---|---|
| Suno | Songs created as a paid subscriber are described as yours to keep and use; the Pro plan is described as including full commercial rights. The Free Plan does not include commercial rights. | Confirm the subscription and current terms that apply to the song. These usage rights do not establish that entirely AI-generated music is copyrightable. |
| Eleven Music | Tracks are described as cleared for broad commercial use, while commercial rights vary by subscription tier. The Free plan is limited to personal use. | Check the terms for your tier and intended release; the supplied information says commercial rights exclude film, TV, and studio games. |
| Musicful | Musicful says it retains ownership of generated tracks and gives downloaders a non-exclusive, perpetual license. Its Free/Basic use is non-commercial; commercial use is limited to Standard/Pro plans. | Confirm the plan and license scope for your specific use. A license to use a track is distinct from authorship. |
| Songin.ai | Free downloads are watermarked MP3 files for personal use only. Songin.ai says paid-plan music can be used commercially. | Check the current paid-plan terms and any requirements for the release you have in mind. |
| Tunee | Tunee says its generated songs and videos come with a commercial license and belong to the user. Free users may use music for personal projects with attribution to Tunee. It also says copyright law is evolving and it cannot guarantee copyright protection. | Check the terms for your plan and include attribution where required. The platform’s ownership statement does not settle U.S. copyrightability. |
| Beatoven.ai | Beatoven.ai says musicians receive equitable compensation when they contribute music and that a monetization license is delivered with every download. | The supplied information does not state who owns a generated track or what authorship credit to use. Check the license delivered with your download and the vendor’s terms. |
What Streaming And Video Platforms Expect
Spotify announced that vocal impersonation is allowed only when the impersonated artist has authorized it, and that it supports DDEX AI disclosures in credits. In August 2026, Spotify also announced an “AI Persona” badge for artist identities that may be AI-generated rather than a real person. These measures concern platform transparency and policy; they do not decide who holds copyright in a particular song. Spotify’s September 2025 policy announcement and Spotify’s AI Persona badge announcement describe those changes.
YouTube requires creators to disclose realistic altered or synthetic content that could be mistaken for a real person’s performance. Its inauthentic-content monetization policy addresses mass-produced, repetitive, or template-based uploads; the supplied policy description does not make AI use alone the deciding factor. YouTube’s clarified disclosure and inauthentic-content guidance explains those points.

The practical answer is to credit the human work you can identify, follow plan-specific attribution and licensing terms, disclose AI involvement where required, and avoid claiming authorship of output generated entirely by AI. For a particular release, the platform’s current terms and the destination’s rules determine what to do next.
