Making AI music is not automatically illegal in the United States. The key distinction is that a song can be lawful to create yet still have limited copyright protection, and using someone’s voice or music can raise separate consent and licensing questions. The U.S. Copyright Office says work generated entirely by AI is not copyrightable, prompts alone do not make a person its author, and only the human-authored parts of a mixed work may be protected. What The Copyright Rules Mean For An AI Song
AI generation by itself does not establish that a track is illegal. Copyrightability is a different question: according to the Copyright Office, a person’s prompt alone is not enough to make them the author of an entirely AI-generated work. In a song combining generated material with human authorship, only the human-authored parts may be protected.

Voice Imitations, Covers, And Samples Need Extra Care
Do not assume that a generated track is cleared just because an AI music service made it. If you want a recognizable person’s voice, a cover, or material drawn from a sample, check that you have the necessary consent and permissions and read the service’s terms. The facts available here do not establish a universal rule for every voice, cover, or sample, so check the applicable terms and get consent where relevant.

Spotify said in September 2025 that vocal impersonation is allowed only when the impersonated artist has authorized it. That is Spotify’s platform policy; it is not a statement that every other platform has the same rule. Spotify policy announcement coverage
Check The Service License Before Publishing Or Monetizing
A service’s usage license and copyright protection are separate questions. A platform may grant commercial-use rights under its terms, but that does not change the Copyright Office’s position on whether AI-generated material is copyrightable.

Uploading To Spotify Or YouTube Adds Platform Rules
Spotify announced support for AI disclosures in credits and a filter targeting mass uploads and duplicates in September 2025. In August 2026, it announced an “AI Persona” badge for artist identities that may be AI-generated rather than a real person. These are Spotify’s stated measures, not a general legal test for whether a song is lawful. Spotify’s 2025 AI music policy announcement coverage and Spotify’s AI Persona badge announcement

A Practical Galaxy Phone Workflow
- Decide where the track will appear and whether you will monetize it, then check that service’s current license for that use.
- Write a prompt describing musical qualities you want, such as tempo, mood, instrumentation, and structure. Avoid asking for an identifiable person’s voice or a specific existing song unless you have the needed consent and permissions.
- Keep your own lyrics and notes, and record the edits or arrangement choices you contribute. If you later register a work with more than a minimal amount of AI-generated material, the Copyright Office requires disclosure and a description of your human contribution.
- Before uploading, check the destination platform’s current rules for AI disclosures, impersonation, and monetization.
The provided product information does not establish specific Galaxy phone features, music genres, or voice and sample permissions for these services. Check each service’s site for device availability and its current terms before relying on a particular workflow.
