In the United States, instrumental music generated entirely by AI generally cannot receive copyright protection. A human’s prompt alone does not make the person the author. If you contribute original musical expression—such as composing a melody or making substantial creative edits—those human-authored parts may be protectable, while the AI-generated material itself is not. The U.S. Copyright Office explains this distinction in its report on copyright and AI.
What That Means For An AI Instrumental
A finished instrumental can sound complete and still lack copyright protection if the AI made all of its musical expression. Choosing a mood, genre, tempo, instruments, or arrangement direction in a prompt is useful creative input, but prompts alone do not establish human authorship under the Copyright Office’s stated approach.

It does not by itself mean you composed the resulting notes. The same issue applies if you ask for a game cue with pulsing synths, a jazz arrangement, or a calm acoustic background track.
When Your Contribution Can Matter
Human-authored material in a mixed work may be protected even when the work also contains AI-generated material. The relevant question is what musical expression you created, rather than how many instructions you gave the generator.

- If you compose an original melody and arrange or perform it yourself, identify and preserve that contribution.
- If you select, edit, or arrange generated material, keep the project versions and notes that show what you changed. Whether those changes are sufficiently human-authored depends on the work; the available guidance does not establish a simple threshold.
- If you only enter a prompt and accept the generated instrumental, do not assume the prompt gives you copyright in the result.
Using A Galaxy Phone To Make A More Deliberate Track
On a Galaxy phone, you can draft a specific musical brief before generating anything, then save the output and any edits or source material you create. Soundverse AI Beat Maker is described as mobile-friendly and available on Android; it generates full instrumentals and exports separated stems and MIDI. Suno is available on Android and supports instrumentals, editing, and stem export, though its free plan does not include stem separation. For other services, check the vendor’s site for Android availability and the exact editing or export options before choosing one.
- Write a brief tied to the actual use: “Instrumental game cue, tense exploration, restrained drums, low pulsing bass, sparse high notes, gradual build, no vocals.”
- Generate a draft and listen for whether the arrangement fits the intended scene. A prompt guides the generator; it does not establish that you authored the resulting notes.
- Where the service offers editable parts or exports, use them to make your own musical decisions. Keep the original output and your revisions so you can distinguish what the system generated from what you created.
- Before publishing or monetizing, check the service’s current terms for the plan used and the rights it grants. Copyright status and a service’s license are separate questions.
Copyright And Permission Are Different Questions
A service may grant permission to use a track under its terms even when copyright law does not give you copyright in AI-generated music. Conversely, a claim of commercial-use permission does not by itself establish that the track is copyrightable. Read the terms for the specific service and plan, and check whether they cover your intended use.

If a track includes a recognizable person’s voice, a cover, or samples, check that you have the necessary consent and that the platform’s terms allow the use. Instrumental output avoids a vocal performance but does not, by itself, settle questions about samples, similarity to existing music, or the service’s license.
What To Disclose If You Register A Mixed Work
If you apply to register a work containing more than a minimal amount of AI-generated material, the Copyright Office says you must disclose that material and describe the human author’s contribution. See the Copyright Office’s AI report and registration guidance for its instructions.

Instrumental Generators With A Stated Fit
These options have source-supported instrumental uses. Their product claims describe features or licensing offered by the services; they do not decide whether a particular track has copyright protection.
| Service | Stated instrumental fit | Rights information provided |
|---|---|---|
| Soundverse AI Beat Maker | Creates complete instrumentals; offers WAV mixes, stems, and MIDI editing. | Its page says a commercial license is available for releasing and monetizing tracks. Check the applicable plan terms. |
| CreateYourMusic.ai | Creates instrumentals and backing tracks without vocals. | Its page says annual plans and one-time Pay Once packs include a commercial license, with a stated license for music up to five minutes. Check the current terms. |
| GenerateSongs.ai | Offers music without vocals for background tracks, video soundtracks, or podcast intros. | Its page says generated songs can be used commercially. Check the vendor’s current terms. |
| ACE-Step Jazz Music Generator | Offers instrumental jazz, including smooth swing, bebop, and Latin jazz. | Its page says outputs can be used in creator and commercial projects, but directs users to check plan rights before commercial use; sample tracks are for preview inspiration only. |
| InsMelo Game Music Maker | Creates instrumental game background music. | Its page says generated tracks are available for commercial use and can be downloaded in MP3 or WAV. Check the current terms. |
| Suno | Its site describes creating full songs or instrumentals; it supports editing and stem export. | Its site says songs created as a paid subscriber can be used as the subscriber chooses. Its free plan does not include commercial rights; check the terms for your plan. |
| Mureka | Supports purely instrumental tracks as well as vocal tracks. | Its site says tracks can be downloaded with full commercial rights. Check the current service terms. |
The licensing statements in the table are vendor claims, not a guarantee that a track is copyrightable or free of third-party rights issues. For a Galaxy workflow, verify Android or browser access, export formats, and plan-specific terms directly with any service whose details are not stated here.
