Nextcloud Talk
Nextcloud Talk · Stuttgart, Germany · founded 2016
What it is
Nextcloud Talk combines meetings, chat, and webinars in a self-hosted communication platform. It can run on an organization’s infrastructure or with a trusted local provider, keeping communications and metadata there. Talk supports private, group, and public calls, URL invitations for external participants, and chat that remains after calls end. Users can share Nextcloud Files documents, connect rooms with files, calendars, and tasks, and use online office sidebars. Federated chats and calls can cross Nextcloud servers, with bridges to IRC, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Matrix, Mattermost, and XMPP. Apps are available for web, Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android, and a public API supports integrations. Nextcloud describes end-to-end encrypted calls, layered encryption, brute-force protection, suspicious-login detection, and a security bug bounty. Typical private setups handle 6–10 participants, or up to 20 without video and with good connections. Webinars and large calls require the High Performance Backend. Standard costs €71.29 a year, Premium €104.99, and Ultimate €204.75, each starting at 100 users.
