Jubler
What it is
Jubler is a free, open-source desktop editor for creating, editing, and converting text-based subtitles. It runs on Linux, macOS, and Windows and supports more than 20 subtitle formats, including SRT, ASS/SSA, WebVTT, TTML, ITT, DFXP, and YouTube subtitles. It can export SRT and VTT files. Editing tools include shifting timings, converting frame rates, splitting or joining entries and files, spell checking, and regular-expression find and replace. A timeline with draggable subtitle blocks supports two-point synchronization. With VLC, Jubler can preview video and frames, display audio waveforms, and let users edit subtitles during playback. Other tools include configurable quality checks, TED guidelines checking, Azure Translator support, and command-line batch processing. Downloads include builds for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, Windows, Linux x86_64 and arm64, and a generic Java version. VLC is required for video preview and waveforms; ASpell is suggested for spell checking. The project is licensed under AGPL-3.0.
