4Minitz
What it is
4Minitz is a free, open-source meeting app for preparing agendas, recording minutes and following topics and action items across meetings. It supports meeting series, invitations, moderator and uploader roles, and recurring agenda topics. During a meeting, participants can record attendance, add information and assign actions to responsible people. Logged-in invitees can see updates to current minutes in real time. Unfinished actions and topics can continue into a later meeting, and users can search topic history and full text. The app supports email delivery of agendas, minutes and action items; finalized protocols can be produced as HTML, PDF or PDF/A when an administrator enables those formats. Re-finalized meetings receive a version number, while older finalized minutes cannot be changed through the normal workflow. 4Minitz runs in a browser or on infrastructure you host, with Docker deployment available. It uses Meteor JS, Node.js and MongoDB, and lists LDAP and Active Directory support for user import and authentication. Free plan; free.
For and against
For
- Free and open-source under the MIT License
- Tracks assigned action items and recurring topics
- Searches topic history and full text
- Logged-in invitees see minute changes in real time
- Responsive interface for desktop, tablet and smartphone
Against
- Self-hosting requires Node.js and MongoDB
- Unsynced offline changes can be lost if the tab closes
- Attachment size and file types may be restricted by an administrator
The verdict
4Minitz brings agendas, minutes, follow-up actions and searchable topic history into one meeting workflow. Its self-hosted approach offers control over infrastructure, but teams need to account for its technical requirements and offline-sync limitation.
Who it suits
It suits teams that want to organize recurring meetings, assign actions and retain searchable minutes. Organizations that need control over hosting may prefer its self-hosted deployment option.
