Overview

Setmore is appointment-booking software for service businesses that want customers to schedule and pay without coordinating each visit manually. It suits small teams especially well: clients can book services or group classes themselves, while the free plan supports up to four users. For larger teams, Pro removes that user ceiling, though its advertised price depends on annual billing.

Key features

The Booking Page shows services, prices, and availability, and lets clients book 1-on-1 appointments or group classes. That self-service setup can make scheduling more convenient for customers and reduce the need to handle every booking directly. Setmore also supports online and in-person payments through Stripe, Square, PayPal, and LawPay.

Two-way calendar sync helps keep schedules aligned across connected calendars. Automated reminders are included, but the allowance differs by plan: Free includes one reminder, while Pro team members receive 500 SMS credits per month, with more available in-app. That distinction matters for businesses relying on frequent text reminders.

For teams, profiles, individual logins, permission levels, calendar views, and messaging offer ways to divide access and coordinate schedules. Integrations include Google Analytics, Mailchimp, website widgets, Zapier, and calendar tools. All customers receive 24/7 support by phone, chat, or email. Setmore also provides Android and iOS apps and Windows and macOS desktop apps. Healthcare businesses can use Setmore Health for HIPAA compliance, enhanced privacy, and support for healthcare regulations.

Pricing

Free — 0.00 USD per free: Supports up to 4 users and includes one reminder. It is the sensible starting point for small teams, but the user cap and reminder allowance may be restrictive as booking volume or staffing grows.
Pro — 5.00 USD per month: The advertised price is based on annual billing. Pro supports unlimited users and provides 500 monthly SMS credits per team member, with more available in-app. It can suit growing teams that need more staff and reminder capacity. Pro can be tried risk-free for 30 days, with a refund available if unsatisfied. Subscriptions automatically renew on the selected monthly or annual billing period, so check the renewal terms before subscribing.
Live Receptionist — 99.00 USD per month: This is a separate plan and is available in the US only. It may suit businesses seeking that option, but it is not a substitute for comparing Free and Pro on team size and reminders.
Enterprise — custom pricing: A plan for larger organisations; it is the relevant route for businesses beyond the standard team plans.

Platforms

Setmore has Android and iOS mobile apps plus Windows and macOS desktop apps, giving customers and teams options across mobile and desktop devices.

Who it's for

Setmore is a good fit for service businesses that want a customer-facing booking page, payment collection, calendar syncing, and team scheduling in one product. Small teams can start without paying, while businesses that need unlimited users can consider Pro. It is less compelling for a business whose needs exceed the free plan but whose budget or preferred billing terms do not fit Pro.

Pros and cons

Pros: Self-service booking covers both individual services and group classes, and the booking page supports payment collection.
Pros: The free plan accommodates up to four users, and Pro has unlimited users, making the team-size step between plans clear.
Pros: Two-way calendar sync, team permissions, and multiple support channels address scheduling and coordination needs.
Cons: Free includes only one reminder, which may be limiting for businesses that depend on frequent reminders.
Cons: The $5.00 USD per month Pro price is based on annual billing, and subscriptions renew automatically according to the chosen term.

Alternatives

SimplyBook.me is worth considering if a 50-booking monthly cap, one provider, and one custom feature on its free plan match a smaller operation’s needs. Zoho Bookings may suit a solo user looking for a free plan for one user and one event type; it also offers a 15-day premium trial without requiring card details. Plandok is a candidate for businesses prioritizing a free plan with up to five employees, unlimited appointments and clients, and 100 email notifications per month.

Salonist offers a free marketplace-listing plan with 50 appointments per month, online booking, and calendar scheduling, which may work for businesses comfortable with those limits. Acuity Scheduling is a paid alternative with a Starter plan at 20.00 USD per month and one calendar. Boulevard is another paid option. Fresha offers plans for an independent team member or an unlimited team, with prices not listed. GlossGenius is a paid alternative with a Standard plan at 28.00 USD per month.

Verdict

Choose Setmore if your service business wants self-service bookings with payment collection and team scheduling, and the Free four-user plan or Pro’s unlimited-user structure fits your operation. Its strongest case is the combination of customer booking, payments, and team tools; look elsewhere if the Free reminder allowance is too small or Pro’s annual-price basis and automatic renewal do not suit you.
