Overview

PushPress is an operations platform for independent gyms and fitness studios that need to coordinate classes, memberships, billing, and member communication. It is best suited to businesses that want those jobs under one roof rather than a scheduler alone. Its free entry point is appealing, but gyms processing meaningful payment volume should compare its higher free-plan fees with the monthly cost of Pro or Max.

PushPress brings together billing and payments, member management, class scheduling, lead generation, communications, workout tracking, and analytics. The company, founded in 2013 and based in Claymont, Delaware, says it serves more than 5,000 fitness studios and is backed by Altos Ventures. Its stated audience spans independent CrossFit gyms, martial arts schools, strength gyms, and boutique studios.

Key features

Scheduling and member operations

Recurring class templates, capacity management, waitlists, and coach substitutions address common scheduling demands. Automated handling of no-shows and late cancellations can help standardize attendance policies. Online booking, digital waivers, automated billing, and member management extend the product beyond the calendar, making it a better fit for a gym consolidating routine administration than for a business that only needs appointments booked.

Marketing and integrations

PushPress Grow adds lead capture forms and landing pages, automated email and text messages, social integrations, WhatsApp messaging, and member engagement workflows. That breadth gives studios tools for both acquisition and ongoing outreach, but the dedicated Grow plan costs considerably more than the core management plans.

Integrations include Stripe, Zapier, Slack, Mailchimp, Google Analytics, Google Calendar, Facebook Ads, HybridAF, and Kisi. HybridAF and Kisi support door access linked to membership status, a useful connection for gyms that want entry permissions to follow a member’s standing.

Apps and support

The Member App works on iOS, Android, and the web; staff use the web-based Control Panel on desktop, laptop, or mobile browsers. Free-plan support combines self-serve resources and AI support with a 48-hour response time for human assistance. Pro and Max add live human responses and optional video support calls, which may matter more to operators who want direct help with day-to-day issues.

PushPress says its onboarding team can import member and business data from other gym platforms and provide white-glove migration support. That can ease a move from an incumbent system without requiring a gym to rebuild its records from scratch.

Pricing

PushPress uses a freemium model, with core management plans and separate options for workout tracking, marketing, and a branded app. The Free plan has no monthly fees and allows unlimited leads, admins, members, and staff. Its payment processing rates are 4.99% + .30 for credit cards and 2.89% + .30 for ACH. It is a sensible starting point for gyms prioritizing zero monthly software cost, but those higher fees can outweigh the savings as payment volume grows.

Pro costs 159.00 USD per month and Max costs 229.00 USD per month. Both include unlimited leads, admins, members, and staff. Pro lists rates of 2.89% + .30 for credit cards and 0.79% + .30 for ACH; Max lists 2.75% + .30 for credit cards and 0.79% + .30 for ACH. The lower processing rates make the paid tiers worth comparing for a busy gym, while Max’s lower card rate is the clearest stated distinction from Pro.

Other plans address narrower or broader needs. Train costs 79.00 USD per month for workout tracking for up to 20 clients, so the client cap makes it a targeted option rather than a general-purpose gym platform. Grow costs 329.00 USD per month and includes a full CRM with automated workflows, email/SMS, and websites. The Branded App plan costs 8197.00 USD per month for a white-labeled mobile app. Full Stack costs 559.00 USD per month and combines all features into one package for businesses that want a consolidated offering rather than selecting separate capabilities.

Platforms

PushPress supports Android, iOS, and web. The member-facing app is available across all three, while staff manage operations through the browser-based Control Panel, including on mobile browsers.

Who it's for

PushPress is a strong candidate for independent gyms and studios that run recurring classes, manage memberships, and want billing and member communications connected to those operations. CrossFit, martial arts, strength, and boutique fitness businesses fit the audiences the company names. Studios looking to join scheduling, member records, payments, and lead follow-up may value its breadth; an operator seeking only a simple calendar may find the broader platform and its paid add-ons unnecessary.

Pros and cons

Pros: Free plan has no monthly fees and unlimited leads, admins, members, and staff, giving a new or cost-conscious gym room to start without a software subscription.
Pros: Scheduling includes waitlists, capacity management, substitutions, and no-show or late-cancel automation, beyond basic class listings.
Pros: Door-access integrations can tie entry permissions to membership status, connecting administration with facility access.
Pros: Migration support and member apps across iOS, Android, and web reduce friction for gyms changing systems and serving members on different devices.
Cons: Free-plan payment processing rates are higher than Pro and Max, so the absence of a monthly fee is not automatically the least expensive choice for a gym with substantial payment volume.
Cons: Support on Free relies on self-service and AI, with a 48-hour human response time; Pro and Max are the plans with live human responses.
Cons: Specialized options add meaningful cost: Grow is 329.00 USD per month, while the Branded App plan is 8197.00 USD per month.
Cons: Train is limited to 20 clients, which may constrain workout tracking for a larger coaching roster.

Alternatives

For a gym comparing other management tools, WellnessLiving has a Starter plan at 62.00 USD per month billed annually, with one staff member, classes and appointments booking, client and staff apps, and POS. It is a lower-priced starting point for a small operation comfortable with the stated one-staff limit. GymMaster starts at 89.00 USD per month for 100 current members on Foundation, making it worth comparing for a gym whose membership count fits that cap. Zen Planner offers a Studio plan at 99.00 USD per month for 0–45 active members, a defined-size option for a smaller studio. Gymdesk has a 75.00 USD per month plan for up to 50 members and a free trial, which may suit a smaller gym evaluating a capped membership tier. TeamUp prices its 101–200 active customer tier at 189.00 USD per month and adjusts pricing by active customers, so it is a comparison for businesses tracking costs by that measure. ClubReady is another paid option for gyms comparing management platforms.

For a sign-in kiosk specifically, RhinoFit Sign-In Kiosk offers a free Start Up plan for eligible users with 20 or fewer active users, as well as a free trial. For a dedicated scheduling comparison, see Fitness Studio Scheduling Software or Class Scheduling Software. Studios focused on trainer appointments can also compare Personal Trainer Scheduling Software.

For broader category comparisons, browse Gym Management Software, Gym Marketing Software, or Gym Waiver Software. Glofox is another paid alternative for readers comparing fitness management products.

Verdict

PushPress is a strong fit for independent gyms and studios that want scheduling, payments, member administration, and outreach tools in one system, with migration support and member apps rounding out the package. Its free plan lowers the barrier to adoption, but gyms should weigh the elevated processing rates against Pro or Max before committing. Choose PushPress when operational breadth matters; look elsewhere if the priority is a narrow scheduling tool, a lower capped plan, or more direct human support without moving beyond the free tier.
