Overview

Marvel brings early screen design, interactive presentations and developer handoff into one browser workspace. Teams can sort work into folders, create separate teams and leave comments and annotations on projects. That makes it a practical fit when reviewers and developers need to stay close to design decisions; teams seeking a desktop app should look elsewhere.

Handoff generates downloadable assets and CSS, Swift and Android XML, with outputs synchronized to design changes. A GraphQL API covers project data, prototypes, interactions, designs, collaborators, comments and beta user testing. Integrations include Sketch, Jira, Confluence, Dropbox Paper, Microsoft Teams, YouTube, Niice, Smartmockups and Zeroheight. This breadth can help Marvel fit into an existing workflow rather than operate as an isolated design tool.

Key features

Prototyping and feedback

Users can create interactive prototypes without coding and present realistic interactions. That is useful for sharing a proposed experience before implementation, while comments and annotations give teams a way to keep feedback tied to the work. Real-time collaboration is supported, though the free plan's single-user limit rules it out as a shared workspace.

Handoff, mobile and security

Handoff's downloadable assets and platform-specific code can reduce the gap between a design and its implementation, particularly when screens change and outputs need to stay aligned. Mobile apps support creating, playing and sharing prototypes, offline viewing and Sketch syncing, extending the workflow beyond the browser.

Enterprise controls include SSO, IP restriction, access logs, user permissions and project-level password protection. Marvel says its infrastructure is EU hosted and GDPR compliant, with data-center certifications including SOC 1, SOC 2, SOC 3 and ISO27001. It also describes 256-bit SSL/TLS 1.2 encryption in transit and encryption at rest, plus a 99.98% uptime SLA and 24/7 global support coverage. These provisions make Enterprise the relevant tier for organizations with stronger access and support requirements.

Pricing

Marvel is freemium, with a 7-day trial. The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and allows 1 user and 1 project. That is enough for a small individual project, but the one-project ceiling is restrictive: downgrading to Free leaves other projects inactive.

Pro costs $12 per user/month (annual), billed yearly, for 1 user, unlimited projects, 3 active user tests, prototype and design downloads, and removal of Marvel branding. It suits a solo designer who needs multiple projects or clean exports, but the single seat makes it a poor fit for team collaboration.

Team costs $42 per month (billed yearly) and starts at 3 users. It includes unlimited projects, 10 active user tests, prototype and design downloads, removal of Marvel branding and premium support. The higher entry cost buys shared use and more testing capacity; teams with fewer than three users may find the minimum seat count mismatched to their needs.

Enterprise has custom pricing, unlimited users and projects, advanced security settings, SSO and custom billing. It is the option for larger organizations that need centralized controls, rather than a budget tier for smaller teams.

Platforms

Marvel supports Android, iOS, web and API access. It has no desktop app, so browser-based design is central to the workflow, with mobile apps serving prototype creation, playback and sharing.

Who it's for

Marvel is best for designers and product teams that want to move from wireframes to realistic prototypes, collect feedback and prepare developer-facing assets in a connected process. Individuals can start with Free or Pro, while teams needing multiple seats and more active user tests should consider Team. It is less suitable for anyone who requires a desktop app or needs several active projects without paying.

Pros and cons

Pro: Wireframes, interactive prototypes and synchronized handoff assets sit in one workflow, helping teams keep design review and implementation connected.
Pro: Comments, annotations, real-time collaboration and a broad set of integrations support team feedback and existing workflows.
Pro: Mobile apps offer offline prototype viewing and Sketch syncing, useful when reviewing away from the browser.
Con: Free is limited to one user and one project, and downgrading makes other projects inactive.
Con: Pro remains a single-user plan; Team starts at three users, which can leave small collaborative groups with an awkward price step.
Con: There is no desktop app, so users who prefer native desktop design software will need another tool.

Alternatives

For a different design or prototyping focus, compare Rheo, which has a free plan and Android and iOS support; FlowSnap, whose free plan includes up to 3 projects and PNG export with watermark; and Figr, whose free plan includes 10 monthly-refreshing credits, 3 canvases and Figma export.

Wireflow is a free, MIT-licensed, open-source option that can be self-hosted and requires no sign-up. Sketchflow.ai is another freemium option with Android, iOS and web support. Overflow is a paid option with a free trial and a Pro plan at 19.95 EUR per month per user, including 1GB cloud storage per user, cloud sharing, private and team folders, and comments. Zeplin Flows has a free plan limited to 1 project and 100 screens, with unlimited members. EVONX is a freemium web option.

Verdict

Choose Marvel if your design process benefits from keeping interactive prototypes, team feedback and developer handoff together, and its seat structure matches your team. Its main reason to look elsewhere is the sharp gap between a one-user Pro plan and a Team plan that starts at three users, compounded by Free's one-project cap.
