Overview

Formbricks is a feedback platform for collecting surveys across websites, apps, and email. It is best suited to teams that need configurable surveys, respondent segmentation, or the option to self-host, rather than a bare-bones questionnaire tool.

It supports both types of NPS surveys alongside broader feedback work, with web, Android, iOS, API, and self-hosted platforms. Teams comparing tools by category can also browse Net Promoter Score Software, Survey API Software, and Survey Software.

Key features

Survey design and respondent targeting

Hobby supports link-based and in-product surveys, all question types, conditional logic, hidden fields, partial responses, file uploads, and single-use links. That is a substantial toolkit for shaping questions and controlling how surveys are used, but the cloud plan's 250 responses per month makes it a better fit for small feedback programs than broad, high-volume collection.

Pro adds respondent identification, contact and segment management, and attribute-based segmentation. These features make it more useful when feedback needs to be organized around particular audiences, rather than treated as one undifferentiated response pool.

Follow-ups and integrations

Pro also includes email follow-ups, custom webhooks, integrations, iOS and Android SDKs, and AI translations. The combination supports teams that want feedback to connect with follow-up activity and their existing tools. Listed integrations include Airtable, Google Sheets, Notion, Slack, n8n, Zapier, and ActivePieces.

Self-hosting and security

One-click setup, Docker, and Kubernetes deployment give technical teams several routes to self-hosting. That flexibility comes with an operational burden: the documented v6 baseline runs eight long-running services, and the evaluation setup calls for 2 vCPU, 4 GB of memory, and 20 GB SSD on a single server. DIY hosting is therefore a meaningful choice for teams able to maintain the infrastructure, not a way to avoid ongoing work.

Formbricks says data is encrypted in transit with HTTPS/TLS 1.3 and at rest with AES-256, and lists GDPR, CCPA, SOC 2 Type II, and ISO 27001 compliance. It also says it conducts annual independent penetration tests and makes daily encrypted backups for Formbricks Cloud. Self-hosted free users receive community support; EE license users receive prioritized support and updates.

Pricing

Formbricks has cloud and self-hosted options, with a 14-day trial. The Hobby cloud plan has no published price and includes one workspace and 250 responses per month. It offers a low-capacity starting point, but the response ceiling is restrictive for teams collecting feedback regularly.

Pro costs 89.00 USD per month, billed monthly, and includes three workspaces, 2,000 responses per month, and unlimited seats. It is the clearest fit for teams that need segmentation and follow-up workflows without a seat cap. Scale costs 390.00 USD per month, billed monthly, for five workspaces and 5,000 responses per month; it suits higher response volumes, though the listed allowance remains finite.

Self-Hosting Free costs 0.00 USD per free and covers DIY setup and maintenance, community support, moderate customization and control, and most advanced features. Self-Hosting EE License has custom pricing, billed fixed per month; it adds prioritized support and updates, all advanced features, and full customization and control, while setup and maintenance remain DIY. Cloud response limits do not apply as a stated plan quota to these self-hosted plans, but running the services is the user's responsibility.

Platforms

Formbricks supports web, Android, iOS, API, and self-hosted deployment. Its survey channels include websites, email, and in-app placements, so it can serve feedback programs spanning digital touchpoints.

Who it's for

Formbricks is a fit for organizations that want to learn from customer feedback and need more than basic survey distribution. Its segmentation and automation features suit teams coordinating follow-ups, while self-hosting can appeal to organizations that want deployment control and have the capacity to operate the system. Teams that need a simple hosted tool with generous free response volume, or cannot maintain server infrastructure, should weigh other options.

Pros and cons

Pros: Flexible survey controls—including conditional logic, hidden fields, and single-use links—support more tailored feedback collection.
Pros: Pro combines respondent segmentation with follow-ups, webhooks, SDKs, and integrations, giving teams tools to act on feedback as well as collect it.
Pros: Cloud and self-hosted deployment choices let organizations weigh managed service against greater control.
Cons: Hobby is capped at 250 cloud responses per month, limiting its usefulness for sustained collection.
Cons: Self-hosting requires maintaining eight long-running services at the documented v6 baseline, which is a significant operational commitment.
Cons: Pro and Scale both have monthly response caps, so teams with higher volumes must consider the Scale tier or self-hosting.

Alternatives

For a free plan advertising unlimited surveys, questions, and responses, Fynzo Survey is worth considering; it lists Android, iOS, and web support. Refiner offers a free plan capped at 25 responses per month and supports API as well as mobile and web platforms, making its free allowance smaller than Formbricks Hobby's. SatisMeter also has a 25-response monthly free plan, with a recommendation of about 250 active users rather than a user limit.

Customer Thermometer has a paid model and lists a $9.00 USD monthly At the Beach plan that retains and displays account data but includes zero responses. Zonka Feedback has custom-quote pricing for its AI Feedback Intelligence plan, primarily based on data credits. nps.today has a one-month free trial plan with 50 surveys per month, email, and zero support hours. Wootric offers a Professional plan with one journey point, one metric, up to five seats, and self-service support. Mapster has a free web plan with 50 responses per month and unlimited surveys.

Verdict

Choose Formbricks if your team needs configurable surveys plus segmentation and follow-up workflows, or wants the option to run the platform itself. Its response caps and the infrastructure demands of self-hosting are the main reasons to look elsewhere: small cloud users may outgrow Hobby, while teams without server capacity should favor a managed alternative.
