Overview

Eventbrite combines event publishing and ticketing with tools to promote events, manage attendees, and review results. It suits organizers who want public discovery and mobile check-in alongside ticket sales, as well as attendees looking for events from classes to concerts and festivals.

Its breadth is useful for events with both online promotion and on-site operations, but paid-ticket charges can weigh on organizers or buyers. Free events are a particularly strong fit; organizers selling paid tickets should compare the per-ticket and per-order fees against their budget.

Key features

Publishing and promotion

Organizers can build event pages, sell tickets, and promote listings through marketplace visibility, email campaigns, Facebook and Instagram ad tools, promo codes, and smart audiences. Reporting helps review results, and AI event creation is among the ticketing tools. Advanced form customization gives organizers room to shape registration, while the range of promotion tools is most useful to events that can make use of several channels rather than just needing a basic checkout.

Attendee access and event-day tools

The attendee app supports event discovery, registration, and ticket access on iPhone and Android. The separate Organizer app scans QR tickets, checks in attendees, and supports on-site sales on iOS and Android. Check-in, badge printing, and payment processing make Eventbrite relevant beyond ticket sales, though organizers focused solely on registration may not need the wider toolkit.

Integrations, security, and support

The app marketplace lists more than 100 apps, and documented integrations include Mailchimp and Zoom. Zoom integration is limited to online, non-recurring events and excludes government Zoom accounts, so it is not a fit for every virtual-event setup. Eventbrite states PCI DSS 4.0.1 Level 1 compliance as both merchant and service provider; organizers can also enable authenticator-app multi-factor authentication. Support includes a Help Center and email, with 24/7 chat support for paid events.

Pricing

Eventbrite uses a freemium model. Free event publishing costs 0.00 USD per free and includes unlimited event publishing; free tickets have no ticketing fees, and free events can be any size. This is unusually flexible for organizers whose events do not charge admission, but the free-event terms do not remove the costs attached to paid tickets.

Paid ticketing has no listed subscription price. US fees are 3.7% + $1.79 service fee per paid ticket and 2.9% payment processing per order. Fees apply only to paid tickets; buyers pay them by default, or organizers can absorb them. That default can keep organizer costs down, while organizers who cover fees should account for both charges.

Eventbrite Premium costs 69.00 USD per month, billed at $69 per month or $708 per year (save $120). It is an optional subscription with up to 2,000 marketing emails per day and $20/month in EB Ads credits; availability varies by country. It is aimed at organizers who can use those promotion allowances, while the cheaper free publishing option does not include the stated paid-plan email and advertising allowances.

Eventbrite Pro costs 15.00 USD per month, billed starting at $15/month, but is no longer available to new subscribers. Existing subscribers keep their current plan and email limits; the pricing page describes up to 10,000 daily marketing emails. New organizers cannot choose it, and its lower starting price does not make it an option for new accounts.

Platforms

Eventbrite is available on web, Android, and iOS, with an API platform also listed. The separate attendee and Organizer apps cover ticket access and event-day operations on mobile.

Who it's for

Eventbrite is a good match for organizers who want event discovery, multiple promotion channels, ticket sales, and mobile check-in in one service. It is especially attractive for free events of any size. Organizers running paid events should weigh the percentage and fixed ticket fees, while those seeking a low-cost paid subscription should note that Pro is closed to new subscribers.

Pros and cons

Pro: Free events can be any size, with unlimited publishing and no ticketing fees, avoiding a per-attendee ceiling for free admissions.
Pro: Promotion, reporting, mobile check-in, QR scanning, and on-site sales cover both event marketing and operations.
Pro: The app marketplace lists more than 100 apps, with Mailchimp and Zoom integrations documented.
Con: Paid tickets incur both a 3.7% + $1.79 per-ticket service fee and a 2.9% per-order processing fee, unless organizers choose to absorb them.
Con: Premium's email allowance is up to 2,000 per day, while Pro's larger stated allowance is unavailable to new subscribers.
Con: Zoom integration excludes recurring events and government Zoom accounts.

Alternatives

Zoho Backstage is worth considering for a smaller event with tightly capped needs: its free plan allows 100 attendees per event, 300 RSVP invites, three sessions, three speakers, and one event day.

Humanitix is another freemium option, with free events and a Standard plan billed per paid ticket at 0.99 USD per month and a 2.1% booking fee; compare its per-ticket booking charge with Eventbrite’s service and payment-processing fees.

Eventzilla may suit organizers who want unlimited events and free registration types on its Basic plan, which costs 1.50 USD per month per registration and allows one paid ticket per registration type.

EventCreate caps its free plan at one event, 50 attendees, and one user, with a 5% ticketing fee, so it is an option when that smaller free-event scope fits.

RegFox offers a $0/month Standard plan with a $0.99 + 1% fee per paid registration and a $4.99 cap per paid-event registrant; it may suit organizers prioritizing a capped per-registration fee.

GEVME includes a website builder, virtual venue editor, content management, and more than 50 themes and experiences on its free plan, making it relevant when those event-site tools matter.

RSVPify is a freemium alternative whose free plan allows 100 guests; it may fit a smaller guest-list event.

Eventleaf has a Starter plan with 100 attendees per year, unlimited events, and unlimited users, which may suit organizers managing multiple smaller events.

Verdict

Eventbrite is a strong choice for organizers who want public event discovery, promotion, ticketing, and mobile check-in in one place, particularly for free events that can be any size. Its main drawback for paid events is the combined per-ticket service and per-order processing charges; organizers unwilling to absorb those fees should compare alternatives before committing.
