Overview

The platform covers audit planning, evidence collection, control testing, findings and remediation, with audit plans connected to enterprise risk. That linkage can help teams prioritize work against organizational risks rather than manage each audit in isolation. Its supported audit type is internal audit, so teams seeking a general-purpose audit tool should look elsewhere.

Questionnaires, framework mapping, workflow automation and a SOX control library give teams a foundation for repeatable programs. Governance documents, ownership structures, filing-deadline tracking and multi-country jurisdiction coverage extend its reach beyond audit execution. That scope will matter most to organizations managing several connected governance responsibilities, not teams seeking a lightweight audit tracker.

Key features

AI-assisted audit workflows

AuditAI can carry prior audits forward, draft evidence requests, send follow-ups, perform control tests and prepare reports. These capabilities target repeatable coordination and documentation work, potentially freeing auditors to focus on evaluation and judgment. AI can also summarize findings and turn them into board-ready reports, which connects audit work to executive oversight.

Risk and controls

Risk prioritization and natural-language analysis of data support planning around enterprise exposure. Agentic AI monitors controls for gaps and exceptions, but actions are held for review. Diligent says consequential AI actions need human approval, recommendations can be explained and overridden, and actions enter an audit trail. That review structure is a practical safeguard for teams that cannot delegate consequential control decisions to automation alone.

Integrations, security and onboarding

Data connectors for SAP, Oracle and Concur can link audit work with information in those systems. Diligent’s audit leadership page lists FedRAMP and DoD IL5 authorization, end-to-end encryption, audit trails and role-based access controls—credentials and controls relevant to organizations with demanding security requirements.

Diligent says most organizations transition from manual processes within three months, supported by streamlined onboarding and pre-built workflow templates. That offers a defined onboarding expectation, though organizations should still assess how their own workflows map to the templates.

Pricing

Diligent Audit is paid, with custom pricing available by request. There is no free plan, and no published seat count, quota, trial term or renewal detail to compare. This suits buyers prepared to scope a solution with Diligent, but makes it difficult to benchmark cost before discussing organizational needs. Teams with a fixed budget or a small program that needs a known entry price may prefer a product with published rates.

Platforms

The platform list includes Android, iOS, web and API. However, the mobile-app designation says web-only, while Diligent’s audit materials describe mobile apps and offline modes for fieldwork on any device. That distinction matters to auditors working away from a reliable connection: confirm which mobile and offline capabilities are included in the intended deployment before relying on them.

Who it's for

Diligent positions the product for internal audit teams and chief audit executives responsible for planning, risk monitoring and assurance reporting. It is a stronger fit for organizations that need connected audit, control and governance workflows, especially where AI-supported execution must remain reviewable. It is less suitable for teams whose priority is a low-cost, self-serve tool or a workflow outside internal audit.

Pros and cons

Pros: Connects audit plans to enterprise risk, helping teams prioritize assurance work.
Pros: Automates recurring audit tasks while retaining approval, explanation, override and audit-trail controls.
Pros: Includes control testing, deficiency and remediation workflows, plus SOX support.
Cons: Custom pricing and no free plan make early budget comparison difficult.
Cons: Conflicting mobile descriptions leave fieldwork and offline access unclear until confirmed.
Cons: Its stated audit scope is internal audit, limiting its fit for teams seeking broader audit coverage.

Verdict

Choose Diligent Audit if your internal audit team needs risk-connected planning, control monitoring and board-ready reporting, with human review over consequential AI actions. Its broad workflow and governance coverage is the main draw; custom pricing and unresolved mobile details are the reasons to compare alternatives or clarify deployment before committing.
