Overview

Rather than coordinate a live first conversation for every applicant, teams can collect recordings and review them later. Candidates record in a desktop or mobile browser without installing an app or creating an account, reducing setup for applicants. Recruiters can set unlimited retakes or cap attempts per question, a useful control when balancing candidate flexibility with consistent interview conditions.

Automated transcription, summaries, and recruiter-criteria scoring add structure to review, but they should not be mistaken for language-neutral assessment: transcription supports over 30 languages, while summaries and scoring are generated in English. Key features

Review and candidate management

Job-specific visual pipelines have configurable stages and drag-and-drop movement, helping teams track candidates through their process. Shareable candidate and shortlist links let hiring managers view videos, transcripts, summaries, and ratings without an account. Links expire after a configurable period—seven days by default—and can be revoked, which gives teams a practical way to limit ongoing access.

Hiring integrations

Greenhouse, Lever, Bullhorn, and JobAdder integrations support two-way syncing of interview results and candidate stages. That can reduce duplicate updates for teams already using those systems, but ATS integrations begin at Pro. The company also offers a REST API and webhook system for custom integrations; Enterprise includes custom integrations.

Pricing

CandidReel has a free plan, a free trial, and paid plans from $29/mo. The Pro plan is 79.00 USD per month and includes 50 interviews per month, unlimited pre-screen questions, AI scoring and summaries, scorecards and evaluations, a drag-and-drop interview builder, custom branding, and priority support. ATS integrations are available on Pro and above. It is the clearest fit for teams that need integrations and a substantial monthly interview allowance, though the stated price is notably above the starting paid price.

The Free plan has 5 interviews per month and 3 pre-screen questions, plus recording and playback, candidate management, and shareable review links. It offers a way to run a small process, but its interview and question caps make it a limited choice for regular or high-volume hiring.

Enterprise has custom pricing, custom interview limits, a dedicated account manager, SSO and SAML, custom integrations, and an SLA guarantee. It is aimed at organizations that need tailored capacity or enterprise controls rather than a fixed self-serve allowance.

Platforms

CandidReel is available on Android, iOS, and the web. Candidates can also record from a desktop or mobile browser without an app or account, so applicant participation does not depend on installing the mobile software.

Who it's for

Agency recruiters, in-house teams, and high-volume hiring teams are the intended audience. It is strongest for teams that want asynchronous screening, structured review, and pipeline tracking, especially where listed ATS integrations fit their workflow. Teams that need summaries and scoring in languages other than English, or need ATS connections on the free plan, should look elsewhere.

Pros and cons

Pros

Low-friction candidate access: browser recording without an app install or account removes two setup steps for applicants.
Adjustable retakes: recruiters can allow unlimited attempts or impose per-question limits to suit the interview process.
Shared review with access controls: hiring managers can see review materials without an account, and links can expire or be revoked.
Two-way ATS sync: Greenhouse, Lever, Bullhorn, and JobAdder integrations can keep interview results and candidate stages in sync on Pro and above.

Cons

AI output is English-only: multilingual transcription does not extend to summaries or scoring, limiting the usefulness of those tools for other-language evaluation.
Free usage is capped: five interviews and three pre-screen questions per month may not stretch far beyond a small hiring need.
Integrations require a paid tier: teams relying on an ATS cannot use the listed integrations on Free.

Alternatives

Choose Jobma if you need a listed Starter allowance of unlimited one-way interviews, five active positions, and one ATS integration for one user; it has no free plan. Consider Shine Interview if its Lite plan's 250 one-way interviews, five active jobs, unlimited users, branding, live interviews, and self-scheduler fit your needs; it costs 95.00 GBP per month on an annual contract and has no free plan.

Truffle may suit teams that want a seven-day free trial with 30 credits and every feature unlocked before choosing a paid plan; it has no free plan. Interviewer.AI is another paid option, with an Essential Edition at 199.00 USD per month for 50 interview credits monthly, three job posts monthly, 20 minutes per interview, and 15 total user licenses.

RecRam starts at 29.00 USD per month and may suit teams prioritizing its Starter allowance of one team member and 100 video or audio responses per month; it has no free plan. Willo charges 49.00 GBP per month per live role on Lite, with up to five live roles and 150 assessed candidates per role; choose it if pay-per-live-role pricing better matches your hiring pattern.

FaceCruit offers a free plan with up to 25 minutes and a reference request, making it worth considering if a no-cost, time-limited option fits; it also has a paid Silver plan. Hyring has a free plan with 50 credits per month, one seat, and one active job post, but English-only support; its Pro plan is 79.00 USD per month.

Verdict

CandidReel is a sensible choice for recruiting teams that want applicants to record on their own time and need structured reviews, configurable pipelines, and ATS sync on a paid plan. Its strongest practical case is the combination of low-friction candidate access and shareable, controlled reviews. Look elsewhere if AI summaries and scoring must work beyond English, or if you need integrations without moving beyond the free tier.
