Overview

Avero is hospitality analytics software that turns point-of-sale data into reporting for restaurant and food-and-beverage operations. It is best suited to operators who want to examine sales, staff, and labor performance across one or more locations. Its free Starter tier makes core POS reporting unusually accessible, while deeper labor and revenue analysis requires paid plans.

Key features

Sales and operations

Starter brings together a POS-connected logbook, check search, menu mix trends, payment breakdowns, group sales, scheduled email reports, and configurable dashboards. That range makes it useful for reviewing transactions and routine sales patterns without paying for advanced analytics. Avero says it maintains more than 40 integrations across POS and time-and-attendance systems, including Aloha, Clover, Square, Toast, and TouchBistro.

Staff, labor, and revenue

Essentials adds server and bartender metrics, individual scorecards, contest management, promotion and void breakdowns, and labor insights. These tools are a meaningful step up for managers comparing staff performance, but Essentials does not include Professional's overtime tracking, labor-by-hour analysis, or payroll reporting and export.

Professional also adds hour-by-hour revenue reporting, covering slow periods, table turns, special menus, and promotion uptake. That makes the higher tier the more relevant choice for operators who need to connect staffing and service patterns with revenue opportunities; the price rises with annual sales volume, so larger operations should account for that variable.

Data and setup

A RESTful API and standardized POS data support analysis in Excel and other business intelligence tools, a useful option for teams that want to work beyond Avero's reports. The cloud service needs no Avero hardware, and its customer success team helps customers get started. Avero says its extraction utility encrypts POS data in transfer to its warehouse, while noting that data protection depends on the POS machine being PCI compliant.

Pricing

Plan	Price	What it includes
Starter	0.00 USD per free	Free for any users and locations, with unlimited users and usage and free POS integration for most common systems.
Essentials	300.00 USD per year, per location	Server and bartender metrics, scorecards, contests, promotion and void breakdowns, and labor insights. Price increases based on annual sales volume.
Professional	600.00 USD per year, per location	Essentials features plus overtime tracking, labor by hour, payroll reporting and export, and hour-by-hour revenue analysis. Price increases based on annual sales volume.

Starter is the clear fit for teams that need basic POS reporting and can work without staff or labor analytics. Essentials suits locations that need performance and labor insight but not payroll exports or detailed revenue analysis. Professional is for operators who will use those added tools; its annual per-location price and sales-volume adjustment make the total less predictable as a group grows. The paid plan prices are billed annually.

Platforms

Avero is available on Android, iOS, and the web. Its web software works on mobile devices with an internet connection, and it also offers real-time mobile apps for supported systems. For browser use, Avero recommends Chrome and Firefox, supports Edge and Internet Explorer 11 or later, and does not support Safari or Internet Explorer 10 and below. That Safari exclusion is a notable limitation for Apple-focused teams.

Who it's for

Avero targets food-and-beverage operators, including restaurants, hotel outlets, casinos, nightlife businesses, and larger groups. Its multi-location reporting and broad POS connections suit operators consolidating data across venues, while Starter can serve smaller teams that mainly want sales and menu reporting. Businesses that require detailed labor and revenue analysis should budget for Professional rather than assume the free tier covers those needs.

Pros and cons

Pro: Starter has unlimited users and usage, covers any number of locations, and includes free integration for most common POS systems, lowering the barrier to basic reporting.
Pro: Paid tiers extend reporting into staff metrics, labor, and hour-by-hour revenue analysis, giving operators a path to more operational detail.
Con: Essentials and Professional prices increase with annual sales volume, complicating budget comparisons for higher-volume locations.
Con: Safari is unsupported, which rules out Avero's web interface for teams using that browser.
Con: Protection of extracted POS data depends in part on the POS machine being PCI compliant.

Verdict

Avero is a strong fit for hospitality operators who want POS-connected reporting across locations and a free starting point, with paid upgrades for staff, labor, and revenue analysis. Choose it when those reporting capabilities matter more than browser flexibility; look elsewhere if Safari support is essential or the sales-volume-based annual pricing makes costs difficult to forecast.
