Overview

AvePoint Cloud Backup is a cloud service for backing up and restoring business data across SaaS platforms and cloud workloads. It is best suited to organizations protecting several services, especially Microsoft-centered environments. Broad coverage and recovery controls are its strongest case; buyers seeking a clear upfront cost or protection for only one small workload may prefer a narrower option.

Key features

Coverage includes Microsoft 365, Salesforce, Dynamics 365, Google Workspace, Azure, Power Platform, Microsoft Entra ID and other SaaS applications. That breadth can simplify protection across a mixed cloud estate, but could be more than a single-service team needs. Microsoft 365 coverage reaches Teams, SharePoint, Exchange, Viva Engage, Planner, Project Online and Power Platform.

Backups run multiple times daily, with item-level restore, data export and cross-tenant recovery. App-aware recovery can restore configurations, versions and permissions as well as data, which matters when an incident affects how a service is set up or who can access it. Storage destinations include AvePoint storage, cloud and FTP/SFTP-compatible destinations.

AvePoint says backup storage and retention are unlimited. Ransomware detection helps identify suspicious activity, while encryption, immutability and logical air-gapping provide additional safeguards for backup copies. The Microsoft 365 offering also supports Bring Your Own Storage and Bring Your Own Key. These controls suit organizations with demanding recovery and security requirements, though buyers should confirm how the options apply to their workloads.

Workload-specific coverage adds useful detail: Salesforce can back up records and metadata up to four times daily and retain copies outside Salesforce; Google Workspace protection covers Gmail, Drive, Shared Drives, Contacts and Calendars, with granular or bulk restore. AvePoint lists ISO 27001:2022 and ISO 27017:2015 certifications; the ISO 27017 scope includes its SaaS services and solutions. SaaS purchases include 24/7 Global Premium Support by phone, chatbot and online portal.

Pricing

AvePoint Cloud Backup: custom pricing, with pricing requested from AvePoint. This paid plan is the fit for organizations that need the product’s cloud workload coverage, frequent backups and restore options, but the lack of a published price makes budget comparison difficult before contacting the vendor. No separate cheaper tier or plan-level quota is established. Support is included with SaaS purchases.

Platforms

AvePoint Cloud Backup is a cloud deployment, with Android, iOS and web platforms. Its workload coverage spans multiple cloud services, so buyers should match the specific services they need protected to the product’s offering.

Who it's for

The product is aimed at cloud service administrators, security executives and end users, and AvePoint also promotes multi-tenant management for managed service providers. It is a stronger fit for organizations responsible for several cloud workloads, where broad coverage and app-aware recovery can matter across teams. A buyer looking only for straightforward protection of one service should weigh that breadth against the custom-pricing sales process.

Pros and cons

Pros: Broad coverage across Microsoft, Salesforce, Google and other cloud workloads can reduce the need to manage separate backup products.
Pros: Item-level and cross-tenant recovery, data export, and restoration of configurations, versions and permissions give teams options beyond restoring files alone.
Pros: Unlimited stated storage and retention, ransomware detection, and security controls support organizations with extensive recovery requirements.
Pros: 24/7 Global Premium Support is included with SaaS purchases, with phone, chatbot and portal access.
Cons: Custom pricing requires a vendor request, making costs harder to compare before a sales conversation.
Cons: Its wide workload scope may be unnecessary for teams protecting only one modest cloud service.

Verdict

AvePoint Cloud Backup is a strong choice for organizations that need to protect several cloud workloads and want granular, app-aware recovery backed by stated security controls. Its breadth and included premium support are persuasive; custom pricing is the main reason to look elsewhere, particularly for teams with a single workload or a firm need to compare costs upfront.
