Overview

Journey supports offline access, search, and filters, giving users ways to keep and retrieve entries whether or not they are online. Its range of supported devices makes it a practical fit for a journal that moves between phone, computer, and browser; Chrome OS and Linux are also supported.

End-to-end encryption, app-level privacy locks, and selective sharing give users different ways to manage who can access their writing. Shared journals support collaboration with friends, family, or loved ones, while browser-viewable links let users share selected entries without sharing everything.

Key features

Entries beyond text

Entries can include photos, videos, audio, GIFs, and music. That range suits people documenting trips, routines, or personal milestones with more than prose, though membership limits each entry to 20 media files. Search and filters help make a growing journal easier to navigate.

Prompts and personal reflection

Prompts, templates, and coach programs support reflection, self-improvement, healthy living, and planning. Membership includes more than 60 guided coach programs, a meaningful source of structure for users who prefer direction to a blank page. Odyssey AI can answer questions about a user's own life, patterns, moods, and progress toward goals, extending the journal into a way to explore personal trends.

Privacy, sharing, and integrations

Journey combines end-to-end encryption with passcode, Touch ID, Face ID, and Android Biometric privacy controls. These options suit people keeping sensitive entries, while shared journals and web links make the app less exclusively private when collaboration or selective sharing matters. Integrations include Google Places, Apple Maps, Apple Health, Zapier, email, and WhatsApp.

Pricing

The free version is available indefinitely, making it a low-commitment way to try Journey. Membership Annual costs $50.04 per year, billed annually ($4.17 per month, billed annually). It adds 10GB of cloud storage, 5,000 entries, up to 20 photo, video, or audio files per entry, 50 web links, 1,000 cloud prints per month, and 1,000 ePUB/DOCX exports per month. It also includes the guided coach programs and unlocks Journey across platforms.

The free plan is the sensible choice for people who want to explore the app without an end date; membership is for users whose archive, media, or export needs justify its fixed annual charge. A Lifetime membership is also offered at custom pricing. Annual membership can be cancelled at any time, but access continues only until the next subscription payment is due, and cancelled subscriptions are not refunded. EU buyers may withdraw within 14 days unless performance begins with consent.

Platforms

Journey supports Android, iOS, Mac, Windows, Web, Chrome OS, and Linux. This broad coverage suits users who want one journal across mobile and desktop environments rather than a phone-only diary.

Who it's for

Journey is best for people who want a searchable, media-rich personal journal with privacy controls, optional sharing, and prompts that help sustain reflection.

Pros and cons

Pro: Support for seven platform types makes it suitable for people journaling across phones, computers, and the web.
Pro: Media support, prompts, and more than 60 membership coach programs accommodate varied journaling styles.
Con: The membership's 10GB storage, 5,000-entry, and 20-media-files-per-entry limits may constrain a long-running, media-heavy archive.
