Overview

SignUpGenius brings sign-up sheets, event tickets, fundraisers, dues and forms into one group-organizing service. It is a strong fit for schools, nonprofits and community organizers coordinating volunteers or collecting money. The free plan and participant sign-ups without an account are useful advantages, but payment eligibility and transaction fees narrow its appeal.

Key features

Organizers build sign-ups with a step-by-step wizard, hundreds of themes, custom questions and tabbed layouts. Recurring-event creation and the option to duplicate or transfer a past sign-up make repeat activities easier to set up. These tools cover varied group needs, though the free plan does not include every paid-plan allowance.

Participants can claim a place from a shared link without creating an account, which reduces friction. Organizers who need more control can require accounts, set an access code or reject sign-ups from email addresses outside an approved group. That flexibility suits open community events as well as more restricted groups.

Automatic email or text reminders, scheduled invites, confirmations, follow-up messages and targeted group communications help reduce manual coordination. Reporting includes volunteer-hours reports, Excel data exports, payment reports, and email delivery and click-through rates. Zapier integration connects sign-up data to web apps, and calendar syncing helps participants keep events visible.

Payment pages accept credit cards and digital wallets for a 3.95% plus $0.95 convenience fee, or eChecks at 1.95% with a $1 minimum. The fee structure should factor into collection plans, and payment tools are limited to U.S.-based users with U.S. bank accounts.

Pricing

SignUpGenius uses a freemium model with a 10-day trial. The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and includes unlimited sign-ups, making it a practical starting point for organizers who can work within the free plan's feature limits.

Silver, Gold and Platinum have custom pricing. Silver provides one ad-free sign-up and two custom questions, a focused upgrade for organizers who need those specific allowances. Gold adds 10 administrators, while Platinum allows 20 administrators, making the higher tiers more relevant to teams sharing oversight. Enterprise also has custom pricing and adds embedded sign-ups, portal pages, dedicated account management and customized limits.

The plan details do not establish a price comparison among the paid tiers, so buyers should weigh their needed administrator count and features before choosing. API access is included in paid plans, with daily limits of 500, 2,000 or 5,000 requests depending on plan; Enterprise receives a customized allowance. Premium subscribers can receive priority email and phone support, plus tutorials and FAQs, while all users receive email support.

Platforms

SignUpGenius is available on Android, iOS and the web, and offers an API. Its main service runs in a phone browser without requiring an app; a companion app supports payments on iOS and Android. That browser-based approach keeps the core sign-up flow accessible on phones, while payment collection remains subject to U.S. eligibility.

Who it's for

Schools, nonprofits, businesses, communities and everyday organizers can use SignUpGenius to coordinate sign-ups, shifts and volunteer participation. Its automatic reminders and volunteer reporting are especially useful when organizers need to manage follow-up and document hours. Groups outside the United States, or those whose participants need payment tools without U.S. bank accounts, should look elsewhere for collections.

Pros and cons

Pro: Unlimited sign-ups on the free plan give organizers room to run multiple activities without a sign-up count cap.
Pro: Participants can respond without accounts, while access controls remain available for groups that need them.
Pro: Reminders, messaging and volunteer-hours reporting combine coordination and tracking in one service.
Con: Payment tools are restricted to U.S.-based users with U.S. bank accounts, limiting cross-border use.
Con: Card and digital-wallet collections carry a 3.95% plus $0.95 convenience fee; eChecks cost 1.95% with a $1 minimum.
Con: Paid-plan prices are custom, so the cost of added administrators, ad-free sign-ups or Enterprise features is not immediately apparent.

Look elsewhere if your group is outside the U.S. and needs payment collection, or if transaction charges and custom-priced paid tiers make budgeting difficult.
