Playasoft Volunteer Database
What it is
Playasoft Volunteer Database is a free, open-source web application that organizers can self-host for festivals and community events. It lets organizers create events, departments, and scheduled shifts, with each shift divided into signup slots that volunteers can claim themselves. Shifts record their time, duration, and volunteer capacity. Access can be limited by permission level, using built-in roles such as admin, volunteer, medical, fire, and ranger. Volunteers may upload certification documents for administrators to review before receiving a corresponding role. Organizers can also password-protect shifts containing sensitive positions. Optional live updates for department and shift changes use Redis with a separate WebSocket server. The project supplies Docker Compose setup instructions, requires Docker and Docker Compose for its quick start, and documents MariaDB 10.11. It is AGPL-3.0 licensed. The roadmap lists multi-organization, multi-event installations and a hosted service as future phases.
