IDEA Instruments
What it is
IDEA Instruments are course-feedback surveys delivered through Anthology Evaluate for higher education. They provide formative guidance for improving instruction and summative feedback for faculty evaluation, centered on student learning. Diagnostic Feedback contains 40 questions about learning objectives, teaching methods, and overall impressions. Learning Essentials uses 18 questions to summarize progress and course impressions, while Teaching Essentials has 12 questions on teaching methods. A separate six-question Feedback tool gathers student input during a semester. Diagnostic Feedback and Teaching Essentials adjust selected ratings for preparation, motivation, work habits, course difficulty, and class size, while reports also show raw averages. Faculty receive customized reports with feedback and improvement resources. Students open surveys through their campus Anthology portal. Evaluate supports LTI launches and Blackboard integrations, and its web service can check whether a student completed an evaluation. Institutions set up administrations and administrators select instruments under campus policies.
