Samsung officially unveils the Galaxy Tab S

Samsung announced the Galaxy Tab S last night during an event at Madison Square Garden. As expected, the latest flagship tablet comes equipped with top-notch specifications and features. The device is now open for preorders and will be available in two screen sizes – 8.4-inch and 10.5-inch priced at $399 and $499.

“The tablet is becoming a popular personal viewing device for enjoying content, which makes the quality of the display a critical feature,” said JK Shin, CEO and President of IT & Mobile Division, Samsung Electronics. “With the launch of the Galaxy Tab S, Samsung is setting the industry bar higher for the entire mobile industry. It will provide consumers with a visual and entertainment experience that brings colors to life, beautifully packaged in a sleek and ultra-portable mobile device.”

The latest flagship tablet boasts a 2560 x 1600 Super AMOLED display. Under the hood, it gets powered by a Snapdragon 800 CPU, or Exynos 5 octa-core processor for international markets. It comes with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in storage, which is further expandable via a microSD slot. The tablet runs the latest Android KitKat operating system. In the photography department, it comes with an 8MP primray camera cacapble of recording full HD videos, along with a 2MP front-facing shooter. As for the battery, the 8.4-inch model gets juiced by a 4900mAh battery, while the 10.5-inch variant comes with a 7900mAH battery.
