Overview

Stonly is a customer-service knowledge platform that brings articles, interactive guides and AI-assisted answers together. It is best suited to support teams that need to guide customers or employees through different resolution paths, not just publish static help pages. Its breadth is useful, but plan caps and the stated automatic-upgrade policy call for attention.

Key features

Guidance shaped around a situation

Interactive guides combine step-by-step instructions with choices, so people can follow a path that fits their case. That is a practical advantage for troubleshooting and processes where one set of instructions will not serve everyone. Onboarding checklists, product tours and walkthroughs extend the same guidance approach to onboarding and in-product instruction.

No-code triggers let teams embed guides on web pages, help centers, and web or mobile apps. This puts help closer to the task and avoids requiring a separate destination for every question. Mobile app support and localization broaden where teams can deliver guidance, though the Basic plan's one-language limit is a meaningful constraint for multilingual teams.

Knowledge management and AI

The knowledge base supports both conventional articles and interactive guides, with analytics, versioning, rights management and multimedia content. Those controls help teams maintain a working library rather than a collection of disconnected answers. AI Answers uses structured, metadata-rich content to answer questions, surface relevant guides and support automated multi-step resolutions. Teams should expect content structure and upkeep to matter if they want those AI capabilities to be useful.

Integrations and security

Stonly lists integrations with Zendesk, Salesforce, Freshworks, ServiceNow, Slack, Google Drive, Notion and Zapier. That range can help teams connect guidance to service and collaboration workflows they already use. Its Trust Center lists HIPAA, GDPR and a SOC 2 Type 2 report under compliance, relevant for organizations evaluating security and compliance requirements.

Pricing

Stonly has a free plan and a 14-day trial, but plan prices are custom pricing. New accounts receive a 14-day Small Business trial; accounts that do not upgrade then move to Basic without a charge. That gives teams a defined evaluation window and a no-charge fallback, but the trial-to-Basic transition also makes it important to check Basic's limits before building a broader deployment.

Basic: custom pricing; 400 guide views per month, five published guides, one language, 100 steps per guide and one team member. This is a narrow starting point for a solo operator or small library, not a comfortable fit for a growing support team or multilingual service.
Small Business: custom pricing; 4,000 guide views, five team members and one knowledge base. It offers substantially more views and room for a small team, while the one-base cap may limit teams that need separate knowledge collections.
Enterprise: custom pricing; unlimited knowledge bases, SSO compatibility, private knowledge bases, help desk integrations, AI Agents, priority support and dedicated customer success. The access controls and support make it the relevant tier for larger or more complex organizations; its custom pricing means buyers should seek a quote.

View quotas deserve special care: if monthly guide views exceed a plan's limit for two consecutive months, Stonly says it will upgrade the account and provide advance email notice. Teams with variable traffic should track usage and understand the resulting tier and cost before relying on the service at scale.

Platforms

Stonly supports Android, iOS and web. Its in-context delivery across web and mobile apps gives teams options for placing guidance where customers or employees need it.

Who it's for

Stonly is aimed at customer-service teams that want one system for structured knowledge, contextual guidance and AI-supported resolutions. It can also suit teams responsible for onboarding and product instruction, since checklists, tours and walkthroughs are included. Basic is most appropriate for a tightly scoped pilot or small library; teams needing more people, content volume, languages or multiple knowledge bases should assess higher-tier limits and custom pricing. Organizations seeking only a simple static article repository may not need its guided paths and AI scope.

Pros and cons

Pro: Choice-based guides can adapt instructions to different cases, making them more useful than a single fixed help page for branching support issues.
Pro: Guides can appear in web and mobile contexts through no-code triggers, while checklists, tours and walkthroughs cover onboarding and product guidance too.
Pro: Articles and guides share a knowledge base with analytics, versioning, rights management and multimedia support.
Con: Basic allows only 400 monthly guide views, five published guides, one language and one team member, which sharply limits broader use.
Con: Exceeding a view limit for two consecutive months can trigger an account upgrade, so sustained growth may affect the plan without a voluntary tier change.
Con: All three plan prices are custom pricing, making cost comparison less immediate.

Alternatives

For a broader shortlist, compare Digital Adoption Platforms, Product Adoption Software, Customer Onboarding Software, Knowledge Management Software and Knowledge base software.

Nexthink Adopt uses custom pricing and may require an additional license depending on the licensing model; check it when evaluating licensing fit with Nexthink.
Appcues is paid, has no free plan and offers a free trial, with its Start plan capped at 3,000 MAUs and 10 published experiences; consider it when those experience and audience limits suit the project.
Product Fruits has no free plan but offers a free trial; its Starter plan is 111.00 USD per month and includes 1,500 MAUs, linear flows, standard adaptive onboarding, 15 product tours and 50 hints/tooltips. It offers a priced starting point for buyers comparing published monthly costs.
Toonimo is a paid option with no free trial and an Enterprise plan at custom pricing; consider it if a no-trial, enterprise-oriented option is acceptable.
Userpilot is paid, has no free plan and offers a free trial; its Starter plan is 299.00 USD per month for up to 2,000 MAU, 10 segments, three seats and one-year data retention. Its stated seat and audience limits help buyers compare a published monthly tier.
WalkMe is a paid digital adoption platform with quote-required pricing; consider it when evaluating a quote-based alternative in that category.

Verdict

Choose Stonly if your support operation needs branching, in-context guidance alongside maintained knowledge and AI-supported answers. Its strongest case is the combination of guided help, knowledge-management controls and delivery across web and mobile. Look elsewhere if you need transparent plan prices, generous starter quotas or freedom from view-triggered upgrades; those limits could outweigh the platform's range.
