Overview

Repper turns bitmap or vector artwork into seamless, tileable patterns for designers and makers developing surface designs from an image. It is best for people who want varied geometric repeats, color treatments, and product previews in one workflow; its separate mobile and desktop apps are a meaningful constraint for anyone who expects designs to move between devices.

Choose it for the range of repeat structures and commercial-use terms, but weigh those strengths against Pro Monthly at $12.99 per month and the split between mobile and desktop work.

Key features

Build and refine repeats

Repper offers more than 30 geometric tilings, including rectangular grids, facade arrangements, classic wallpaper groups, and Penrose patterns. That range gives users meaningful control over how a source image repeats, rather than restricting them to a standard grid. Colorway tools and effects including duotone, black-and-white, gradients, halftone, and Metamorphosis make the same source usable across different visual treatments.

Preview and export

Users can bring bitmap or vector artwork, or browse more than a million Unsplash photos within the app. 3D mockups of t-shirts, dresses, pillows, scarves, notebooks, and fabric help assess a design in product context. Exports include JPEG, PNG, and SVG/vector, with seamless repeats. Pro exports reach 35k × 35k pixels, a substantial ceiling for high-resolution output; mobile exports are simplified, so the phone workflow is less capable.

Rights, sync, and support

Repper says users can use and sell their creations commercially without restrictions and retain those rights after cancelling. The browser-based desktop and tablet app offers automatic sync and account backup. Repper Mobile also runs in a phone browser on iOS and Android, with no app-store download, but it is a separate application: designs cannot currently be accessed across mobile and desktop. That makes mobile useful as its own workspace, not as a continuation of desktop projects.

Repper says support is handled by a real person, typically within a day, with help-centre and email support. Its privacy policy says personal data is stored on Google Cloud in the European Union and identifies Firebase as a service host.

Pricing

The Repper Mobile plan is free. It includes the mobile web app, but image uploads are limited to the first two weeks and exports are simplified; it is also separate from the desktop app. It is a sensible way to explore mobile pattern creation, not a free route to an ongoing, synced desktop workflow.

Pro Monthly costs $12.99 per month, with taxes included. It includes an unlimited commercial license, bitmap and vector support, exports up to 35k × 35k pixels, 3D preview and export, unlimited collections, and automatic sync and backup. This is the clear fit for regular users who need full exports, mockups, or commercial use; the monthly term avoids a longer commitment, but the recurring price may not suit occasional projects.

Pro Yearly includes the same stated Pro features. Its terms say “Get 12 months – Pay for just 9” and “Save 25%,” but no price is given, so it is not possible to compare its total cost with monthly billing. Choose it only if the stated annual saving and commitment suit your use.

A 14-day trial is offered. No seat count or export quota is stated beyond the Pro pixel ceiling.

Platforms

Repper runs in web browsers on desktop computers and tablets, and Repper Mobile runs in phone browsers on iOS and Android. The browser access avoids installation, while the mobile app's separation from desktop means a multi-device workflow cannot rely on cross-app design access. The maker says Repper went online in 2008 and released a desktop app in 2009.

Who it's for

Repper suits surface-pattern designers, illustrators, and makers who want to turn their own images or browsed photos into repeat designs, explore symmetry-based layouts, and inspect patterns on product mockups. Pro is the stronger choice when high-resolution exports, vector work, or unrestricted commercial use matter. It is less suitable for people who need one shared mobile-and-desktop project library or only need occasional exports at no monthly cost.

Pros and cons

Pros: More than 30 tilings, including Penrose and wallpaper-group styles, offer real variety in repeat structure.
Pros: Bitmap and vector sources, color treatments, product mockups, and JPEG, PNG, and SVG/vector exports cover several stages of pattern development.
Pros: Repper says commercial rights remain with users even after cancellation, which supports work intended for sale.
Cons: Mobile and desktop designs cannot be accessed across the two apps, limiting continuity across devices.
Cons: The free mobile plan restricts uploads to the first two weeks and simplifies exports; full Pro access costs $12.99 per month.
Cons: Mobile exports are simplified, and only Pro has the stated 35k × 35k pixel export ceiling.

Alternatives

Pick ArahWeave if you need weaving-focused CAD/CAM software for Linux, macOS, or Windows; its free demo cannot save projects.

Raspberry AI Prints & Patterns is a web and API option with a free tier of 50 one-time credits and an Individual plan at $49.00 per month for 120 monthly credits and seven-day history. Consider it when a credit-based AI service better fits your workflow than Repper's image-and-tiling approach.

Texloom Studio offers web access and an extension, with 100 starting credits and 27 free tool pages without signup. It may suit users who prefer a credit-based toolset with a free entry point.

JUMI PatternMaker is a no-sign-up web option with SVG and PNG exports up to 8000px and personal and commercial use, making it worth considering for straightforward pattern work that does not need Repper's stated 35k Pro ceiling or 3D previews.

Loocie Design is a free web option in beta for desktop, tablet, and phone, with files that auto-delete after a short time.

Artlandia SymmetryWorks is a paid extension for macOS and Windows, with one-time versions at $124.50 for students and $249.00 for the full version.

Textile Designer AI is a paid API, macOS, web, and Windows option with monthly credit plans, including Basic at 999.00 INR per month for 275 credits and one user; consider it if that credit-based plan structure matches your needs.

TUKA3D is a Windows-only alternative with a free trial and hardware requirements including Windows 11 64-bit, 32GB DDR5 RAM or more, and an Nvidia RTX 5060 or better.

Verdict

Repper is a strong choice for designers who want flexible geometric tilings, image-based pattern development, product mockups, and commercial rights that remain after cancellation. Its main reason to choose Pro is the combination of vector support, high-resolution exports, 3D output, and unlimited collections; its main reason to look elsewhere is the inability to share designs between mobile and desktop, compounded by the free mobile plan's short upload window and simplified exports.
