Overview

Qu connects order-taking, payment, and fulfillment with Qu POS and the kitchen display system. Staff can manage five or more active orders on screen and control when orders reach the kitchen. That gives operators room to pace incoming work against kitchen capacity, though a smaller restaurant with a simpler queue may not need that level of coordination.

Order capture and kitchen routing run locally on Qu Business Edge, so those core tasks do not depend on an internet connection. Qu also describes triple redundancy and reports 99.997% uptime. It says customer-reported results show service times up to 50% faster; that is a potential benefit, not a promise for every location.

Key features

Order flow and kitchen coordination

Purpose-built order and payment screens, real-time order flow, and flexible order injection keep drive-thru work within a focused workflow. Operators choose how and when to send orders to the kitchen display system. That control can help busy teams manage handoffs, but it is most useful where orders arrive quickly enough to require active pacing.

Mobile ordering and voice partners

Mobile and tablet order-taking lets staff work beyond fixed terminals, which can extend service capacity without keeping every interaction at a stationary station. Qu also integrates with AI voice-ordering partners ConverseNow and Presto, giving operators a way to incorporate voice ordering into the broader drive-thru setup.

Integrations and safeguards

Qu lists 150 integrations across categories including accounting, analytics, labor, delivery, digital ordering, hardware, kitchen, loyalty, and payments. Its certification process is intended to ensure integrations are tested and reliable, while an API-friendly approach is aimed at giving operators more choice over their systems. Qu describes flexible permissions, PCI compliance, and end-to-end card encryption. It also says it uses administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards for personal information and does not use website-collected personal information to train generative AI or large language models.

Pricing

Qu Drive-Thru: custom pricing. Qu sells the product as a paid plan, with pricing on request. No seat or location quota is given for the plan, so operators should request a quote for their deployment rather than assume a standard per-location rate. The core value is the integrated order, POS, and kitchen workflow; buyers seeking a published price for quick comparison will find this less straightforward to evaluate.

Platforms

Qu Drive-Thru supports Android and iOS, with mobile and tablet functionality for order-taking. Its deployment model is hybrid, combining local operation through Qu Business Edge with the broader platform.

Who it's for

This is aimed at multi-unit fast-casual and QSR operators, including chains with 20 to 200+ locations. It is a stronger fit for businesses that need to coordinate active orders, kitchen release, and service across locations than for a single small restaurant seeking a simple ordering tool. Qu offers 24x7x365 support through its help desk, phone, email, and customer portal, a meaningful provision for operators that need help outside standard business hours.

Pros and cons

Local order capture and kitchen routing: core drive-thru tasks can continue without internet connectivity.
Control over kitchen flow: five or more active orders and configurable order injection give teams options for managing busy queues.
Broad integration reach: 150 integrations and a certification process can help operators connect the drive-thru workflow with other restaurant systems.
Custom pricing: buyers need to request a quote, making direct cost comparison harder than with a published price.
Specific operational focus: multi-unit and high-volume workflows may be more than smaller restaurants need.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison of restaurant drive-thru tools, see Restaurant Drive-Thru Software.

SoundHound is the alternative to consider when a free plan or a one-time ad-free purchase matters more than Qu's restaurant operations focus: its free plan is ad-supported, and SoundHound∞ costs 6.99 USD per once.
Solink Drive-Thru AI is another paid Android, iOS, and web option.
Dine Out Pro Drive-Thru Software is worth comparing if a defined staff-account and terminal bundle fits: its Premium Plan includes 4 staff accounts and 1–2 terminals, while its Basic Plan includes 2 staff accounts.
Fingermark Eyecue may suit buyers who want a personalized demo and deployment consultation with custom pricing.
PAR Ordering is another paid Android, iOS, and web option with pricing and demo details handled through PAR.
Zairo may suit operators evaluating a per-store annual operating agreement, with a written quote before signing.
Arc is another paid alternative.
DRIVETHRUiQ is another paid option for web.

Verdict

Qu Drive-Thru is a strong candidate for multi-unit fast-casual and QSR operators whose teams need to manage active queues, control kitchen release, and keep core routing available offline. Its main reason to choose is the locally operating workflow integrated with Qu POS and the kitchen display system; its main reason to look elsewhere is custom pricing, especially if a smaller operation cannot justify a specialized system.
