Overview

Ouch! by Icons8 is an illustration library and editing service for designers building digital projects. It is best suited to people who want to adapt artwork before export or use illustrations across several design tools. The broad format and integration support is appealing, but the Illustrations plan’s monthly download cap makes it a less natural fit for high-volume asset use.

Key features

Artwork and editing

The library covers illustrations, clipart, vector graphics, 3D illustrations and animated illustrations. Static assets are available as PNG or SVG, and Mega Creator lets users recolor, change and rearrange illustrations assembled from separate pieces. That flexibility can save time when an asset is close to the right fit but needs changes to suit a design. Icons8 says its illustration styles are consistent, which can help artwork from one style work together across a project.

Animated artwork is offered in Lottie JSON, Rive, After Effects project, GIF and MOV formats. The Illustrations plan specifically includes JSON, After Effects project and GIF for animation, SVG and large PNG for vectors, and FBX with textures. The wider export range is useful for teams working across different production needs, but buyers should confirm that their preferred format is covered by the plan they choose.

Integrations and access

Plugins are available for Figma, Google Docs, Webflow, Photoshop, Illustrator, Miro and Lucid. Icons8 also offers an API for adding illustrations to an app or website, with engineers available to help with integration. That makes Ouch! more practical for a design workflow that spans tools or needs programmatic asset access than a library limited to manual downloads.

Icons8 lists Pichon and Lunacy desktop apps for Mac and Windows, Lunacy for Linux, and Face Swapper and GenYOU for iOS and Android. The product also links to a Help Center, forum and contact support.

Pricing

Ouch! uses a freemium model, with a free plan and a 7-day trial. Free access requires attribution and is limited to bitmap format; Icons8 says its products are free for open-source projects. Paid plans include lifetime use without attribution, unused downloads and AI credits roll over, and each account is for one user. Teams need to contact Icons8.

Free: 0.00 USD per free. Free illustrations are available, with attribution required. The bitmap-only condition limits its usefulness for people who need vector exports.
Illustrations: custom pricing, billed monthly or yearly, with a 20% saving on yearly billing. It includes 25 downloads per month; each additional illustration costs $0.80 and is billed on the next bill. The plan includes the specified vector and animation formats, desktop app and plugins, with no attribution. The cap suits modest needs, but extras can make heavier use less predictable.
AI and graphics: custom pricing, billed monthly or yearly, with a 20% saving on yearly billing. It includes everything in Illustrations, 100,000 AI credits (about 500 generated illustrations), AI generators and image editing, 100 icons and MCP access, 50 photos, and Mega Creator AI and hand-drawn graphics. It is the broader choice for users who also want AI and graphics assets.
Ultimate: custom pricing, billed monthly or yearly, with a 20% saving on yearly billing. It includes everything in AI and graphics, 1 million AI credits (about 5,000 generated illustrations), and unlimited graphics. It best fits users seeking the fullest graphics access and larger AI allowance.

Platforms

Ouch! is listed for web, Android, iOS, Linux, macOS and Windows, as well as an API and extension access. This spread gives it several routes into design workflows, from desktop apps to plugins and application integrations.

Who it's for

Ouch! is a good fit for designers who want editable illustrations, multiple export formats and plugins for tools such as Figma or Photoshop. Developers may value API access and integration help. It is less compelling for teams that need shared seats under one account or for users whose illustration volume regularly exceeds 25 monthly downloads on the Illustrations plan.

Pros and cons

Pros: Mega Creator can alter component-based illustrations before download, so assets are more adaptable than fixed images.
Pros: Animation exports span five formats, and the listed plugins cover several common design and collaboration tools.
Pros: Paid plans remove attribution and allow unused downloads and AI credits to roll over.
Cons: Free use requires attribution and bitmap format, excluding vector exports under those terms.
Cons: The Illustrations plan includes only 25 downloads monthly, then charges $0.80 per illustration.
Cons: Each account is for one user, so teams must contact Icons8 rather than simply add seats.

Alternatives

For a wider choice of stock illustration services, browse Stock Illustration Websites; for vector-focused options, see Stock Vector Libraries.

Vecteezy is another freemium option, with image-only, video-only and unlimited all-access plans.
VectorStock suits buyers considering individual vector purchases: its Pay-per-Image plan includes a single-vector purchase, a Pro license and no ongoing commitment.
GetIllustrations is worth considering when API access is central; its free Developer API plan allows 1,500 calls per month and free assets, with premium assets shown as watermarked previews.
Blush offers a free plan with thousands of illustrations and unlimited downloads.
DrawKit offers a free Basic plan with unlimited free content and no account requirement.
Storyset offers illustrations free for personal and commercial projects under its Freepik License, with attribution required.
Shutterstock is a paid option without a free plan.
unDraw is another illustration service to consider.

Verdict

Choose Ouch! if you want a flexible illustration library that can be customized before download and connected to design tools or an app through plugins and an API. Its strongest advantage is the combination of editing, formats and integrations; its clearest drawback is the Illustrations plan’s 25-download cap, alongside single-user accounts. High-volume users and teams should weigh those limits before committing.
