Overview

Voloco is a phone-based vocal recorder and processor for singers and creators who want tuning and effects alongside track-building tools. Its strongest fit is a vocal-led project that starts on mobile; producers looking for a desktop option can use its separate DAW plugin.

The appeal is the range in one product: correction, effects, layered recording, beat access, and stem separation. The trade-off is that the free mobile app includes only five effects, while the more than 70-effect catalogue is broader than that entry tier.

Key features

The mobile app combines real-time pitch correction, formant control, and scale or key detection with effects including harmonies, vocoders, and creative treatments. That gives singers several ways to shape a vocal without moving immediately to desktop software. The five-effect free allowance, however, limits experimentation for anyone who wants to explore the wider catalogue without paying.

Voloco Studio records up to eight vocal layers, each with independent volume, pan, and effect controls. That is useful for stacked harmonies and layered performances, though the stated ceiling makes it a focused vocal-recording option rather than an unlimited multitrack workspace. BeatStars integration lets users browse, preview, and license beats inside the app, a practical advantage when building a track around a beat.

AI separation splits an imported song into vocal and backing-track stems on the phone. This can help users work with those parts separately, while MP3 export supports sharing and WAV export suits further professional mixing.

Voloco Producer brings vocal processing into a DAW, with a resynthesizer, editable harmony grid, and sequencer. It requires macOS 11 on 64-bit Intel or Apple Silicon, or Windows 10 on 64-bit Intel or AMD. That makes it a desktop option for compatible systems, not a substitute for the mobile app on other platforms.

Pricing

The Free mobile app costs 0.00 USD per free and includes five effects for iPhone and Android. It is the sensible starting point for basic mobile vocal work, but the small effect allowance is a meaningful constraint for anyone drawn to the wider selection.

Producer Monthly costs 14.99 USD per month, billed 1 month, and includes a 14-day free trial, VST3/AAX/AU/Standalone download, and over 50 free vocal presets. Producer Yearly costs 99.99 USD per year, billed 1 year, and includes the same trial, download formats, and preset count; its displayed equivalent is $8.33 / mo, compared with the monthly plan's $14.99 / mo. The yearly term is the lower displayed monthly equivalent, but commits the buyer to annual billing rather than monthly.

Both paid plans are for Voloco Producer's desktop workflow. The free mobile plan is the lower-cost choice for phone recording, while users seeking Producer's DAW plugin and presets should compare the monthly term with the lower monthly equivalent of annual billing.

Platforms

The mobile app is available for iOS and Android. Voloco Producer supports macOS 11 on 64-bit Intel or Apple Silicon and Windows 10 on 64-bit Intel or AMD. Linux is not among the supported platforms.

Who it's for

Voloco suits singers and creators who want vocal correction, effects, and a small layered recording setup on a phone, especially if beat browsing and phone-based stem separation matter to their workflow. It also suits DAW users on compatible Mac or Windows systems who want the separate Producer plugin. It is less compelling for mobile users who need more than five effects without a paid tier, or for desktop users on Linux.

Pros and cons

Pro: Real-time correction, formant control, and key detection give vocalists several useful shaping controls in the mobile app.
Pro: Up to eight independently controlled vocal layers support harmony and performance stacks without requiring a separate recorder for that task.
Pro: BeatStars access and AI vocal separation keep beat selection and stem work within the mobile workflow.
Con: The free mobile plan's five effects are a narrow slice of the 70-plus effects described for the app.
Con: Producer's desktop requirements exclude Linux and older macOS or Windows systems.
Con: The paid Producer plans are a separate desktop offering, so paying for them is not the route to expanding the free mobile effect allowance.

Verdict

Choose Voloco if you want a mobile-first vocal workflow that combines correction and effects with layered recording, beat access, and stem separation, or if its compatible DAW plugin fits your desktop setup. Its main reason to look elsewhere is the five-effect free mobile cap: users who need a wider selection without a paid tier, or a Linux desktop plugin, should consider another option.
