Overview

Oracle Primavera Cloud is a project planning and controls service for engineering and construction owners, schedulers, and delivery teams. It is best suited to organizations that need contract schedules, field plans, shared resources, risk work, and capital priorities connected across projects. Its breadth is a strong reason to choose it; access depends on license and security privileges, and some integrations can take up to 14 days to set up.

Key features

Contract planning and scheduling link to field schedules in a unified plan, while short-interval planning, task cards, progress updates, dashboards, and reports support day-to-day delivery. Gantt views and time tracking add practical tools for schedule and progress work. This joined-up approach is most valuable when field teams and schedulers need to coordinate; teams seeking only a lightweight task list may not need this scope.

A centralized pool of labor, equipment, and materials supports capacity and demand planning across projects. That cross-project view can help organizations make resource decisions across a portfolio, but it matters less when teams plan independently within one project.

Risk management combines a central register and qualitative scoring with schedule and cost analysis, response plans, monitoring, and reporting. Portfolio management and capital planning help owners evaluate and prioritize projects against organizational goals, extending the service beyond scheduling into investment decisions.

Primavera Cloud imports and exports XER files for exchange with Primavera P6 and supports imports from P6 XML or XER, Microsoft Project MSP XML, and Excel XLSX. Integration options include P6, Microsoft Project, Primavera Gateway, Oracle Integration adapters, and a REST API. That range supports established workflows, though setup time of up to 14 days can complicate a quick rollout. Oracle says the service runs on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and bundles Oracle Integration Cloud with a free allotment of 2 million messages per month.

Administrators can manage access through user types, licenses, permission sets, user groups, and app assignments. The four service license types are Schedule, Portfolio and Capital Planning, Progress, and Task Management; access to apps and functionality depends on both license and security privileges. My Oracle Support provides 24/7 access to support specialists and training.

Pricing

Primavera Cloud is paid, with pricing on request as its general pricing model. The published service plans are billed per Hosted Named User per month:

Oracle Primavera Progress Cloud Service: 12.00 USD per month. The lowest-cost option for users who need the Progress service, rather than the broader Schedule or portfolio plans.
Oracle Primavera Task Management Cloud Service: 55.00 USD per month. A fit for task-management access; it does not provide the Schedule or Portfolio and Capital Planning license type.
Oracle Primavera Schedule Cloud Service: 120.00 USD per month. The relevant choice for schedule-focused work, including contract and field scheduling.
Oracle Primavera Portfolio and Capital Planning Cloud Service: 220.00 USD per month. The highest-priced listed plan, aimed at owners making portfolio and capital-planning decisions.

These are per-user monthly prices, so costs scale with the number of Hosted Named Users. The license and security model also means a plan price alone does not establish that every user can access every app or function. No free plan or trial is stated.

Platforms

Primavera Cloud is available on Android, iOS, through an API, and on the web. Its mobile app supports iOS 18 or higher and Android 14 or higher, so organizations with older devices should account for those minimums.

Who it's for

Oracle describes Primavera Cloud for engineering and construction projects of any size, serving owners, schedulers, and delivery teams. It is a particularly strong fit for organizations that need contract and field schedules, shared resource planning, risk analysis, and portfolio or capital decisions in one service. Smaller teams with simpler planning needs may find the license-controlled breadth and integration setup harder to justify.

Pros and cons

Pros: Connects contract and field schedules, helping keep delivery planning tied to the broader plan.
Pros: Combines cross-project resource planning, risk analysis, and portfolio and capital planning for organizations managing interdependent work.
Pros: Imports and exports XER and supports P6 XML or XER, Microsoft Project MSP XML, and Excel XLSX imports, useful for teams bringing existing project data into the service.
Cons: App and functionality access depends on both license and security privileges, so organizations need to plan access deliberately.
Cons: Some integrations can take up to 14 days to set up, a drawback for teams needing a fast connection to other systems.
Cons: The published prices are per Hosted Named User per month, which can raise costs as more people need access.

Alternatives

usBIM.platform is worth considering for buyers who want a free basic configuration with 10 GB of cloud storage and free online applications; its subscriptions let users choose additional applications. TeamGantt offers a free plan for one user, one project, and 40 tasks, making it a simpler starting point when those caps are sufficient. InEight has paid plans including Compliance & Completions NOW at 55.00 USD per month with month-to-month flexibility and per-user pricing for individuals or small teams.

LookAhead is another paid option for readers comparing project-planning software. Nialli Visual Planner provides a 30-day full-access trial with no credit card required, followed by a listed single-plan subscription at 1400.00 USD per year. Asta Powerproject may suit buyers considering a single-user subscription at 695.00 GBP per year, excluding VAT, for installation on one Windows PC. Birdog charges 150.00 USD per month per project license rather than per user, a different cost structure for whole-team access. Outbuild offers Outbuild Core at 999.00 USD per month billed annually, with unlimited users and projects.

Verdict

Choose Oracle Primavera Cloud if you are an engineering or construction owner or delivery team that needs schedules, field planning, resources, risk, and portfolio decisions connected across projects. Its main advantage is that breadth in a single service; look elsewhere if you need a simpler, faster-to-integrate tool or want to avoid per-user licensing shaped by role and permissions.
