Overview

Resume creation, cover letters, job-specific writing suggestions, and resume checking sit in one workflow. Unlimited resume creation on the free plan helps applicants keep versions for different openings, but plain-text downloads are a real constraint if they need a formatted document. Paid access is the better fit for those who want customizable templates and feedback on resume issues.

MyPerfectResume is made by a company founded in 2003 and headquartered in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. The service also includes a Bold.pro professional profile and ExpertApply, integrated in 2025 to autofill applications using a user's resume.

Key features

Guided resumes and review

The builder combines 40 customizable, ATS-friendly templates with job-specific suggestions written by professional resume analysts and AI. This is useful for applicants who want prompts to shape their experience around a particular role rather than draft every section from scratch. Its ATS Resume Checker flags more than 30 issues and offers improvement suggestions, providing a structured review without replacing the applicant's judgment about accuracy and relevance.

Cover letters and application tools

Users can generate a matching cover letter from a resume or start one from scratch. ExpertApply adds application autofill using resume information, which can reduce repetitive entry across applications. Upload support spans DOC, DOCX, PDF, ODT, HTML, RTF, and TXT for the Resume Builder and Cover Letter Generator, so applicants can bring existing materials into the workflow.

The Bold.pro profile extends the service beyond individual documents with an online professional profile. MyPerfectResume is optimized for smartphones and tablets and has Android and iOS apps as well as web access, giving mobile-first job seekers access across devices.

Pricing

MyPerfectResume uses a freemium model with a free plan and a 14-day trial. Free users can create unlimited resumes, but downloads are limited to plain-text TXT. That makes the free tier suitable for drafting and maintaining multiple versions, not for anyone who needs downloadable, formatted resumes.

Basic Access offers unlimited TXT downloads. It preserves the free format limitation, so it is a narrow fit for users who only need plain-text files. 14-Day Premium Access and 1-Year Premium Access each include 40+ customizable templates and checks for 30+ resume issues. Those options suit applicants seeking more design choice and resume feedback; the 14-day term favors short-term needs, while the one-year term is for continued use. Both plans have custom pricing.

The trial lasts 14 days. The plan terms provided do not state renewal conditions, so the clearest distinction is the trial's short window versus a year of Premium access.

Platforms

The service runs on the web and through Android and iOS apps, and is optimized for phones and tablets. That breadth suits applicants who switch between desktop editing and mobile access; people seeking a desktop-only workflow have no stated desktop application to choose instead.

Who it's for

MyPerfectResume suits job seekers who need multiple role-specific resumes, guided wording, cover letters, and a way to check drafts. It is less compelling for applicants who require formatted downloads without paying for Premium, or who want to compare paid plans by published prices before choosing.

Pros and cons

Pros: Unlimited free resume creation makes it practical to maintain versions for different jobs.
Pros: Job-specific suggestions, cover-letter generation, and checks for 30+ issues bring several application tasks together.
Pros: Web, Android, and iOS access supports job searching across devices.
Cons: Free downloads are restricted to TXT, limiting presentation and formatting options.
Cons: Premium plans use custom pricing, making cost comparison difficult before committing.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison, browse Resume Builders, AI Resume Builders, Cover Letter Software, or Resume Design Software.

Kickresume is another freemium option with a free plan and no free trial; consider it if its free templates and pre-written phrases better match your needs. Resume Genius also has a free plan and trial, with free TXT resume downloads but PDF, Word, and TXT cover-letter downloads, making it worth considering if cover-letter format options matter. Rezi offers a free plan with one resume and three PDF downloads, so it may suit someone who values a small allowance of formatted downloads over unlimited TXT files. Huntr has a free plan with two tailored resumes and application packets plus job tracking, a fit for applicants who want to organize applications alongside documents. MyPerfectCoverLetter focuses on cover letters, with free plain-text downloads and a 14-day trial for full access, making it a narrower alternative for letter-first needs. Novorésumé has a free one-version, one-page resume plan and web access, an option for applicants whose needs fit those limits. Resume Worded offers paid plans centered on resume and LinkedIn reviews, AI rewrites, and templates; consider it when review and rewriting are the priority. Resume.co is another freemium web option with a free trial, and may suit someone comparing web-based resume and cover-letter builders.

Verdict

Choose MyPerfectResume if you want guided, role-specific resume writing, cover letters, and issue checks in a service that works across web and mobile. Its strongest reason to choose is the combination of unlimited free resume creation and integrated application tools; look elsewhere if you need formatted free downloads or transparent paid-plan prices before deciding.
