Overview

Momence brings bookings, payments, marketing, customer communication, and business operations together for experience-based businesses. It is aimed at fitness and wellness operators, including yoga, Pilates, dance, indoor cycling, boutique studios, and gyms. Consolidating these functions may suit businesses with varied schedules and ongoing customer engagement; studios seeking only a basic class calendar may not need such a broad platform.

The free customer app lets clients book, but it does not let them search for other businesses. Momence says a customer sees a business in the app when it is the only one they have visited there, making the app more useful for serving existing clients than for reaching new ones through browsing.

Key features

Scheduling and bookings

Operators can schedule recurring classes, appointments, workshops, events, and other experiences, with controls for availability, booking rules, capacity, pricing, and staff assignments. Instructor scheduling, waitlists, and capacity management help studios coordinate enrollment with staffing. This flexibility is valuable for businesses that combine group classes and appointments, rather than running a single, simple format.

Messaging and marketing

Inbox brings together two-way SMS, in-app messages, email, Instagram DMs, and Facebook DMs. The AI Inbox Agent can handle routine questions and eligible booking or membership requests, escalating cases that need a person. That can reduce repetitive customer-service work, but it does not remove the need for staff to handle exceptions.

Sequences automate customer journeys based on studio activity, including purchases, missed classes, and inactivity. This gives studios a way to tie follow-up to customer behavior rather than relying only on one-off outreach.

Payments and integrations

Momence supports online and in-person payments, saved payment methods, and payment plans. The maker lists ready-made integrations and documents connections with Zoom, Stripe, Wellhub, QuickBooks, and Kisi. Zoom has a practical ceiling: the integration creates up to 100 meetings at a time and queues additional meetings for the following day. A paid Zoom plan is required.

Security and health information

Momence says it encrypts data in transit with TLS and encrypts data at rest using algorithms such as AES-256 where technically feasible. The full platform is not HIPAA compliant; intake forms are not HIPAA compliant and should not be used to store medical PHI. Businesses with medical-data workflows, including those involving diagnoses or SOAP notes, should not treat Momence as a compliant system for that information.

Pricing

Momence uses custom pricing tailored to each business, so prospective customers need to contact sales for a quote. A 14-day free trial is available: businesses can activate it from Settings by switching to a Studio Account. The trial offers a way to evaluate the platform before committing, but the custom quote means studios cannot compare a published Momence price against their budget in advance.

Platforms

Momence is available on Android, iOS, and the web. The customer app is free and supports booking, but its lack of business search limits its usefulness as a discovery channel.

Who it's for

Momence is best suited to fitness and wellness businesses that run multiple kinds of experiences and want scheduling, payments, communication, and activity-based marketing in one platform. Yoga, Pilates, dance, indoor cycling, boutique studios, and gyms are the audiences it specifically serves. Businesses that need HIPAA-compliant intake forms or customer discovery through a browsable app should look elsewhere.

Pros and cons

Pros: Scheduling supports classes, appointments, workshops, and events, with configurable capacity, pricing, rules, and staff assignments—useful for studios with varied timetables.
Pros: Inbox combines several messaging channels, while Sequences can trigger follow-up from customer activity such as missed classes or purchases.
Pros: Online and in-person payments, saved payment methods, and payment plans cover several common studio payment needs.
Cons: Customers cannot search for other businesses in the app, limiting its value for discovery beyond a studio's existing audience.
Cons: Intake forms are not HIPAA compliant, so Momence is not suitable for storing medical PHI in those forms.
Cons: Custom pricing requires a sales conversation before a business can judge the cost against its budget.
Cons: Zoom meeting creation is capped at 100 at a time, with extra meetings queued until the next day, and requires a paid Zoom plan.

Alternatives

Fitness Class Scheduling Software, Pilates Studio Software, Yoga Studio Software, Fitness Studio Scheduling Software, Gym Marketing Software, and Class Scheduling Software are relevant categories for comparing options by studio type or scheduling need.

Waine Appointments: Choose it if a free plan with unlimited appointments at one location matters more than staff accounts; its free plan has no staff accounts.
YogaCRM: Consider it for a freemium option aimed at yoga businesses, with a Solo Teacher plan supporting one team member and unlimited bookings.
Arketa: Consider it if a published Individual plan is preferable to custom pricing; it costs 49.00 USD per month when billed annually, with a 3% transaction fee plus Stripe fees and one team member login.
DANZ: Consider it if a paid studio platform with a monthly cancellation option and no commitment is a priority; its DANZ Solo plan costs 49.00 EUR per month, excluding VAT.
Eversports Manager: Consider it if a published entry plan is useful for budgeting; Light costs 49.00 EUR per month with annual billing and covers up to 49 bookings per month, with prices excluding VAT.
Glofox: A paid alternative for booking, scheduling, member management, payment processing, payroll, and reporting.
Mariana Tek: Consider it if custom-branded iOS and Android apps, a business app, kiosk check-in, waivers, and forms are priorities; its Core plan has custom pricing.
Pike13: Consider it if unlimited staff seats and client profiles suit a small studio; Essential costs 159.00 USD per month, billed monthly, with a 12-month contract.

Verdict

Choose Momence if your fitness or wellness business wants scheduling, payments, customer messaging, and activity-based marketing in one system, especially across multiple experience types. Its main trade-offs are custom pricing and a customer app that cannot help clients discover other businesses. Studios handling medical PHI in intake forms should choose a platform with HIPAA-compliant workflows instead.
