Overview

Riverside is an online studio for recording remote podcasts and video interviews. It suits creators who want recording, post-production, and podcast publishing in one workflow, as well as teams producing webinars. Its strongest case is separate-track recording paired with editing tools; the key caveat is that monthly download caps can limit how much separate-track material editors can take into post-production.

Key features

Recording and editing

Riverside supports video, local recording, separate participant tracks, and automatic transcription, with WAV and MP3 audio exports. Free tops out at 720p video and 44.1 kHz audio, while Pro supports up to 4K and 48 kHz and adds in-person multi-camera recording. Those higher recording options make Pro the stronger fit for polished interviews, but they come with a paid plan.

Pro also includes unlimited text-based editing, an AI editing and repurposing agent, Magic Clips, show notes, and audio enhancement. That breadth is useful for creators who want to move from a recording to edited clips and show materials in one service. Recording is unlimited on Pro, Grow, and Webinar, but separate-track downloads are capped at 15, 20, and 25 hours per month, respectively. The distinction matters: long sessions can be recorded, but frequent editors may hit the download allowance before they have all the individual tracks they want for post-production.

Publishing and webinars

Pro bundles podcast hosting and analytics with publishing to YouTube, Spotify, Apple, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other destinations. Listed integrations and workflows include Spotify, Transistor, Castos, HubSpot, Salesforce, webinar webhooks, Adobe Premiere Pro, and Final Cut Pro. This makes Pro a more complete choice for a podcast workflow than a recording-only setup.

The separate Webinar plan supports up to 100 registrants, with branded registration forms, Q&A, live call-ins, polls, analytics, and HubSpot lead syncing. It is aimed at teams that need audience participation and lead handling, rather than creators who only need to record interviews. Business raises the webinar capacity to 10,000 registrants and includes unlimited studios and separate-track downloads, with custom pricing.

Pricing

The free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and includes two hours of multi-track recordings, up to 720p video, 44.1 kHz audio, and a Riverside watermark. Single-track recording and editing are unlimited. It is a practical way to start or produce occasional material, but the multi-track quota and watermark make it a constrained choice for regular, finished productions.

Standard costs 19.00 USD per month, billed monthly, and includes five hours of multi-track recording per month and 4K video. It is the lower-cost paid option for creators who need more multi-track recording than Free allows, but it does not include the higher-tier Pro features described for editing, hosting, and publishing.

Pro costs 24.00 USD per month, billed $288 annually. It includes up to 4K video, 48 kHz audio, one studio, and 15 hours of separate-track downloads per month, alongside the editing and podcast publishing features. It is the best fit for a solo creator who values a broad production workflow, provided the annual billing and download cap work for their output.

Grow costs 34.00 USD per month, billed $408 annually. It adds 1080p live streaming, unlimited multistream destinations, two studios, and 20 hours of monthly separate-track downloads. Choose it for multistreaming or a second studio; for interview recording and editing alone, those additions may not justify moving above Pro.

Webinar costs 79.00 USD per month, billed $948 annually. Its 100-registrant limit, three studios, 25 hours of separate-track downloads, and HubSpot integration suit smaller webinar programs. Business has custom pricing and includes unlimited studios, unlimited separate-track downloads, and up to 10,000 registrants, making it the tier for larger operations that need those expanded limits. The 14-day trial offers a short window to assess a paid workflow before committing.

Platforms

Riverside lists Android, iOS, macOS, web, Windows, and API support, and its recording platform is browser and desktop. Computer recording is supported in Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge, and in Safari 18.2 or newer, though some studio features are unavailable in Safari. Linux computers are unsupported for recording, so this is not a fit for Linux-based recording setups.

Who it's for

Riverside is best suited to podcasters, interviewers, and small production teams that value separate participant tracks and want editing or publishing tools alongside recording. Pro is the natural choice for an individual creator needing higher-quality capture and post-production features. Webinar and Business are aimed at teams running interactive events, with Business fitting larger audiences. Those who only need occasional recordings can start on Free, while Linux users should look elsewhere for recording.

Pros and cons

Pro combines capture and production: 4K video, 48 kHz audio, in-person multi-camera recording, editing tools, hosting, and analytics make it a broad creator workflow.
Separate-track workflow has room to grow: recording remains unlimited on Pro, Grow, and Webinar, and Business removes the separate-track download cap.
Free has meaningful constraints: two hours of multi-track recordings, a watermark, and 720p video limit its usefulness for regular polished output.
Annual billing governs key tiers: Pro, Grow, and Webinar show annual totals, while Standard is billed monthly; that distinction matters when choosing a commitment.
Browser and operating-system limits narrow access: Safari lacks some studio features, and Linux recording is unsupported.

Alternatives

For a different workflow, consider Async, Iris.fm, Cleanfeed, Spreaker, Zencastr, NowMax, Podsplice, or Alitu.

Async may suit someone looking for AI-assisted media work: its free plan includes 10 lifetime AI credits, one hour of media upload to AI chat, up to 720p export, and 2 GB of storage. Iris.fm is a lower-cost recording alternative, with a 9.00 USD per month Starter plan and browser-based guest access on its free tier. Cleanfeed is worth considering for audio-focused recording, with a free plan for two guests and unlimited recording time, though it limits that tier to one local audio source and mono remote audio.

Spreaker may fit a podcaster focused on publishing and episode statistics: its free plan allows one podcast, unlimited episodes, and six months of statistics. Zencastr's free tier may appeal to creators prioritizing participant capacity and track storage, with six participants, unlimited recording and downloads, up to 4K video, unlimited track storage, and five podcast shows. NowMax is another paid alternative.

Podsplice may suit creators who want screen, microphone, webcam, and tab recording in one tool; its Creator plan is 29.00 USD per month and offers a trial. Alitu is a paid web option with a trial and a monthly plan at 38.00 USD per month, including 10 hours of recording and 12 hours of transcription per monthly billing period.

Verdict

Choose Riverside if you are a podcaster or video interviewer who wants separate participant tracks plus editing and publishing tools in the same workflow, or a team that needs its webinar features. Pro is the strongest creator tier, but its annual billing and 15-hour monthly separate-track download limit are real trade-offs. Look elsewhere if you record on Linux, need more track downloads than your tier allows, or want a simpler workflow without the cost of bundled production tools.
