Overview

LucidLink makes cloud-hosted files available through a shared filespace that behaves like a local drive. That can suit teams working across locations on large projects, where waiting for complete files to download is a poor fit. For individuals or teams who mainly need a conventional cloud folder, its collaboration and administrative features may be more than they need.

Key features

When an application opens a large file, LucidLink streams the data it needs instead of requiring a full download first. The local-drive setup works with Adobe Creative Cloud, AutoCAD, Figma and Final Cut, making it relevant to creative and technical workflows. The trade-off is a service built around a shared filespace rather than simple file storage.

The iOS and Android apps support uploading, browsing, previewing and sharing. Premiere Pro and After Effects panels add pinning, search and clip information. LucidLink Connect can bring Google Drive, Dropbox, SharePoint and S3 into a unified filespace for streaming, a useful option for teams with assets already spread across those services.

LucidLink says it uses AES-256 end-to-end encryption and a zero-knowledge model in which customers control the keys. SAML 2.0 SSO, SCIM provisioning, folder-level read-only or read-write permissions and real-time access enforcement give administrators more control over access. Audit logs can record file-access events, while snapshots can recover files, folders or filespaces. Its named credentials include SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, GDPR and TPN Blue.

The cloud deployment offers a global namespace and local caching, and supports S3-compatible object storage. Listed storage targets include AWS S3, AWS GovCloud, Microsoft Azure, Backblaze, Google Cloud, Wasabi and others. There is no edge synchronization, so teams specifically requiring that capability should look elsewhere.

Pricing

Starter costs 7.00 USD per month, billed per member/month; annual billing saves 15%. It allows 10 members, includes 100 GB per member in shared storage, one filespace and 10 active guest links. Additional storage costs $7 / 100 GB / month. This is the lower-cost fit for small teams with modest shared-storage needs, but the 1 TB total limit and one-filespace allowance constrain growth. Slack community support is included.

Business is shown at 3227.00 USD per month, billed per member/month, with the page displaying $32$27. It allows 25 members and includes 400 GB per member in shared storage, unlimited storage capacity (recommended up to 10 TB), unlimited filespaces and 100 active guest links. Additional storage costs $8 / 100 GB / month. It also includes 30-day snapshots and Premium 24/7 support. The higher member and storage allowances suit established teams, but the displayed price and extra-storage charge deserve close attention before committing. Business is described as best for up to 10 TB.

Enterprise has custom pricing, unlimited members, storage, filespaces and active guest links, making it the plan for organizations that outgrow Business allowances. Starter and Business have published member limits, so teams expecting more than 25 members should consider Enterprise. LucidLink offers a 30-day trial and has no free plan.

Platforms

LucidLink supports Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, web and Windows, as well as an extension. This range accommodates desktop production workflows alongside mobile file access, though the mobile apps are focused on file tasks rather than the desktop local-drive workflow.

Who it's for

LucidLink is a strong fit for distributed creative or technical teams that work with large files, need shared access through familiar applications, and can align their member and storage needs with a paid tier. It is less suitable for users seeking a free plan, teams needing edge synchronization, or groups whose size and storage needs make the published Starter and Business limits impractical.

Pros and cons

On-demand streaming: Applications can use needed file data without waiting for complete files to sync.
Broad workflow support: The local-drive filespace works with named creative and technical tools, with dedicated Premiere Pro and After Effects panels.
Administrative controls: SSO, provisioning, folder permissions, access enforcement, audit logging and snapshots address access management and recovery needs.
Meaningful plan constraints: Starter caps teams at 10 members and 1 TB; Business is limited to 25 members and is recommended for up to 10 TB.
No free tier: The 30-day trial gives teams a way to evaluate the service, but ongoing use requires a paid plan.
No edge synchronization: Organizations that require edge sync should choose a different fit.

Verdict

LucidLink is a compelling choice for creative and technical teams that need shared access to large files through a local-drive workflow, with streaming, integrations and substantial administrative controls. Its paid plans and strict member and storage boundaries are the main reasons to look elsewhere: compare your expected team size, storage use and support needs with the tier limits before choosing it.
