Overview

LOVAT brings VAT, US sales tax, tax registration, marketplace tax, EPR and e-invoicing into a cloud service. It calculates VAT and sales tax for 111 countries and supports 123 currencies. VAT calculations cover more than 100 countries, with direct submission of returns to tax authorities; the sales-tax product calculates and files online returns in 37 US states.

Beyond tax returns, LOVAT offers automated EPR compliance checks in Germany, France, Spain, the UK and other countries, plus compliant e-invoices for more than 30 countries. It is a certified Peppol provider. That range is useful for businesses with overlapping obligations, but it does not mean every function is bundled into one plan: VAT, sales tax and EPR have distinct pricing tiers.

Key features

Tax calculation and filing: Automated filing and direct VAT submission can reduce the gap between calculating liabilities and sending returns. US sales-tax filing is limited to 37 states, so businesses with obligations elsewhere should confirm coverage before relying on it.
Mobile app: The app collects sales-channel data, prepares and files returns, tracks thresholds, sends deadline notifications and shows ten years of sales and return data. That makes it useful for monitoring obligations away from a desktop, as well as reviewing historical activity.
EPR: Automated compliance checks address packaging obligations across multiple countries. WooCommerce users can also upload packaging data through the integration. EPR reporting prices exclude registration, which requires a separate fee quote; budget for that separately.
E-invoicing: The service generates compliant invoices in more than 30 countries and connects with ERP and accounting products including Sage, SAP, Oracle NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365, QuickBooks and Xero. LOVAT says e-invoicing data is protected with enterprise-grade security and complies with global data-protection laws.
Integrations and support: Listed sales-channel and finance integrations include Amazon, Shopify, eBay, Etsy, AliExpress, Magento, Stripe, WooCommerce, PayPal, OpenCart, Xero, Chargebee, FreshBooks and Zoho. LOVAT says support is available in five languages and answers within five minutes.

LOVAT requires an internet connection and stores software data on its cloud servers. That suits teams comfortable with cloud-based operations, but it is not an offline tool.

Pricing

LOVAT has a free plan, paid plans from €27 per month and a 14-day trial. The free plan costs 0.00 EUR per free and includes one data-import integration; it is a way to start with a narrow integration setup, not a high-volume option.

The general monthly tiers scale by transaction volume, total transaction value, integrations and automated submissions. Start-up costs 27.00 EUR per month for 100 transactions, €1,000 in monthly transaction value, one integration and four auto-submits per year. It fits smaller operations that can stay within those ceilings. Standard costs 50.00 EUR per month and raises the caps to 1,000 transactions and €100,000 in monthly value, with two integrations and four auto-submits per year. Premium costs 344.00 EUR per month and allows 20,000 transactions, €1,200,000 in monthly value, five integrations and 16 auto-submits per year. The jump in price is substantial, so Premium makes sense chiefly when the higher limits or submission allowance are needed.

Product-specific monthly plans offer different limits. Sales tax Start-up is 27.00 EUR per month for € 1 000 in transaction value, 100 transactions, one integration and four auto-submits yearly; Sales tax Standard is 50.00 EUR per month for € 100 000, 1,000 transactions, two integrations and four auto-submits; Sales tax Premium is 344.00 EUR per month for € 1 200 000, 20,000 transactions, five integrations and 16 auto-submits. These tiers suit US sales-tax workloads at different scales.

VAT Start-up costs 35.00 EUR per month for one integration, € 1 000 in transaction value and 100 transactions. VAT Standard costs 65.00 EUR per month for two integrations, € 100 000 and 1,000 transactions. VAT Premium costs 450.00 EUR per month for five integrations, € 1 200 000 and 10,000 transactions. They fit businesses seeking VAT-specific capacity; compared with sales-tax tiers, the listed VAT transaction cap at Premium is lower.

EPR Tier 1 costs 190.00 EUR per month for one user, up to 1 ton per year, one integration, four jurisdictions and one pack credit. Tier 2 costs 220.00 EUR per month for three users, up to 4 tons per year, two integrations, eight jurisdictions and one pack credit. Tier 2 is a modest increase for a team needing more users, jurisdictions and tonnage, but neither tier includes the separate EPR registration fee.

Platforms

LOVAT is available on Android, iOS and web, with API access. The API and broad integrations offer routes for businesses connecting tax workflows to existing sales, payment and accounting systems.

Who it's for

LOVAT is best suited to cross-border e-commerce sellers, digital-service providers, marketplace facilitators and accounting firms that need more than basic tax calculation. Its country coverage and mix of VAT, sales-tax, EPR and e-invoicing tools can serve complex operations; smaller sellers should pay particular attention to transaction and value caps before committing to a tier.

Pros and cons

Pro: VAT calculations span more than 100 countries, while sales-tax calculation and filing cover 37 US states, giving international sellers a broad compliance footprint.
Pro: Mobile tools cover filing, threshold tracking, deadlines and ten years of history, useful for teams monitoring obligations across sales channels.
Pro: EPR checks and certified Peppol e-invoicing extend the service beyond tax returns.
Con: The entry Start-up limits of 100 transactions and €1,000 in monthly value can constrain growing sellers quickly.
Con: EPR registration costs extra and requires a separate quote, complicating total-cost estimates.
Con: The cloud service requires internet access and stores data on LOVAT's servers.

Verdict

Choose LOVAT if your business needs several cross-border compliance tools, particularly broad VAT coverage, automated filing and related EPR or e-invoicing support. Its main advantage is breadth across tax types and countries; look elsewhere if your workload is narrowly focused or the plan quotas and separate EPR registration fee do not fit your budget.
