Overview

KaraFun is a karaoke service for people who want to sing alone or make a shared session more participatory. It suits households and groups that value adjustable tracks, guest song queues and offline playback; its clearest drawback is that private Premium does not cover professional or public performances.

The catalog is refreshed with more than 400 new karaoke songs each month, according to KaraFun. The service also includes singing battles and music quizzes, giving a group more to do than taking turns at the microphone.

Key features

Flexible song controls: Adjust key and tempo, set singers’ volumes, and choose lead, backing or guide vocals. These options help adapt a track to different voices, though performance recording is not offered.
Guest queue: Guests can connect by smartphone, browse the catalog and add songs to the queue. That reduces the need to pass around a main device when a group is choosing music.
Offline Sync: Premium and Pro can keep up to 1,000 songs synchronized or downloaded for offline playback. This is useful where connectivity is unreliable, but the one-device-at-a-time account limit still applies.
Vocal Match: On iOS and Android, the feature analyzes a user’s voice and matches it against songs. It is a mobile-only extra, not a reason to choose KaraFun for desktop use.
Professional licensing: Pro covers sound recording rights with synchronized lyrics for its licensed catalog. Customers remain responsible for public performance royalties, so the subscription does not remove every licensing obligation.

Pricing

KaraFun is freemium, with no free trial. The free tier costs 0.00 GBP per free and includes free songs, Premium song previews, access to try all features, and one free quiz. It is a low-commitment way to sample the service, but the song access and quiz allowance are limited.

Premium costs 7.99 GBP per month (billed £7.99 / month). It includes all songs, offline sync, playlists, singer-volume, key and tempo customization, unlimited quizzes and Battle, remote connections for 20 people, and up to 1,000 downloaded songs. This is the sensible fit for private users who want the full catalog and group controls. Premium is for private use, not professional or public performances.

Pro costs 39.99 GBP per month (billed £39.99 / month). It includes Premium features, a commercial license, a permanent QR code, advanced interface customization, remote connections for 100 people, and up to 1,000 offline songs. The higher price is aimed at commercial hosts who need those larger group and setup options; public performance royalties remain their responsibility.

One account can be installed on multiple devices but used on only one device at a time. That makes KaraFun less suitable for simultaneous use across multiple rooms or devices on a single account.

Platforms

KaraFun is available on Android, iOS, macOS, web and Windows. Vocal Match is limited to iOS and Android.

Who it's for

KaraFun is a strong fit for private karaoke groups that want song adjustments, guest-controlled queues, quizzes and offline playback in one service. Pro is the relevant option for commercial hosts who need its commercial license and support for up to 100 remote guests. It is not the right choice for users who need to record performances, or for professional events on the private Premium plan.

Pros and cons

Pro: Song controls cover key, tempo, singer volume and vocal parts, making the catalog more adaptable for group singing.
Pro: Remote queues and up to 1,000 offline songs support group sessions even when the main device or internet connection is a constraint.
Pro: The free tier allows users to try features and hear previews before paying.
Con: Free access is capped at free songs, previews and one quiz, so it is not a substitute for the full catalog.
Con: One account can be active on only one device at a time, despite being installable on multiple devices.
Con: Pro does not cover customers’ public performance royalties, and KaraFun does not provide performance recording.

Alternatives

Consider Karaoke Software to compare karaoke options across the category. Karaoke 5 is worth considering if a free player and manager matter more than synchronization, mobile management or music quizzes; its free tier excludes those features. OpenKJ is a free, open-source karaoke hosting option, while its Songbook plan starts at 9.99 USD per month. Smule may suit singers who want to join existing duets at no cost, with VIP All Access Pass at 19.99 USD per month.

TKaraoke, StarMaker, Singa, Yokee and Encore Karaoke are other options to compare.

Verdict

Choose KaraFun for private group karaoke when adjustable songs, guest queues, quizzes and offline playback matter more than recording performances. Its free tier offers a way to sample the service, while Premium unlocks the full private-use experience. Commercial hosts should look to Pro, but anyone needing public performance royalties covered must account for that separately.
