Overview

JustGiving is a fundraising platform for charities and individual supporters raising money for causes they care about. It suits charities that want to combine supporter-led fundraising with campaign hubs and direct donation forms. The key trade-off is a broad set of fundraising tools against processing and Gift Aid costs on donations that do not use fee-free Giving Checkout.

Key features

Supporters can personalise fundraising pages with their own stories and share them using built-in tools. That gives charities a way to support individual fundraisers alongside centrally managed appeals. Branded campaign pages bring donations and connected fundraising pages together for an event, appeal, project or campaign, making them a better fit for organisations that need a common campaign destination.

Giving Checkout provides customisable direct donation forms. Direct donations through Checkout have no processing or platform fees, while UK Gift Aid processing carries a 5% fee. This is a meaningful advantage when a charity can direct donors to those forms; donations outside that route incur standard processing charges. Checkout also offers 24/7 assistance to anyone on the charity team.

Reporting supports up to eight saved report templates, selected-data exports and collection of donor opt-in information. The cap may suit teams with a small set of recurring reporting needs, but is a constraint for those wanting a larger library of saved templates. Integrations include Strava, Eventbrite, ACTIVE Works, Blackbaud products, Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Salesforce-related options, covering event, activity and fundraising-system connections.

JustGiving says its fundraising pages use Tier 1 PCI security compliance and SSL; its campaign page also describes fraud protection and a regulated payment gateway. Giving Checkout identifies JustGiving as an Approved Payment Institution regulated by the FCA. Recurring donations are supported, and payment methods include cards and wallets.

Pricing

The Start plan costs £0.00 per free, with no monthly subscription. It includes fundraising and campaign pages, Giving Checkout reports, donation widgets, Strava integration, and online and email support. It is aimed at charities new to JustGiving, but standard payment processing fees and a 5% Gift Aid reclaim fee still apply. Free therefore means no subscription, not fee-free fundraising.

Grow costs £15/month (+vat) if a charity raises up to £15,000 per year including Gift Aid, or £39/month (+vat) above that annual amount. It has no annual commitment and includes standard payment processing, an optional 5% Gift Aid reclaim fee, reporting and supporter se… . That makes it a paid step up for charities whose needs extend beyond Start, but the higher price applies once annual fundraising including Gift Aid crosses the threshold. The published plan details do not complete the included supporter feature, so no further capability is assumed.

Standard processing is 1.9% + £0.30 per donation, or 2.90% + £0.30 for donations in another currency, except fee-free Giving Checkout donations. Gift Aid charges also matter: Start applies a 5% reclaim fee, while Grow makes that fee optional. Compare expected donation routes and annual fundraising before choosing; a charity relying on standard processing should not treat the subscription price as its total cost.

Platforms

JustGiving is available on web, Android and iOS, and also lists an API. That combination can suit charities managing campaigns through a browser, supporters using mobile devices, or organisations considering a technical connection through the API.

Who it's for

JustGiving is aimed at charities and nonprofits, with eligibility for registered organisations in the UK, United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. It is a strong fit for teams that need supporter pages, campaign hubs and direct donation forms in one fundraising setup, particularly when Giving Checkout can be the main direct-donation route. It is less compelling for charities that expect most donations to incur standard processing charges and need to minimise fees.

The company says it began in 2000 and joined the Blackbaud family in 2017. That history sits alongside integrations with Blackbaud products and other listed systems, which may be relevant to charities already using those tools.

Pros and cons

Pro: Supporter pages and branded campaign hubs cover both individual fundraising and coordinated appeals.
Pro: Giving Checkout direct donations carry no processing or platform fee, and it includes 24/7 assistance for the charity team.
Pro: Reporting includes exports and donor opt-in collection, while integrations include event, activity and fundraising-system options.
Con: Start still charges standard processing and a 5% Gift Aid reclaim fee, so its lack of subscription does not remove donation costs.
Con: Grow rises from £15/month (+vat) to £39/month (+vat) above £15,000 raised annually including Gift Aid.
Con: Reporting saves at most eight templates, which may be limiting for teams with many recurring report formats.

Alternatives

For a broader shortlist, see Nonprofit Crowdfunding Software. Consider Fundiful if a free private-label crowdfunding plan with no startup or monthly fees is the priority; card processor fees may still apply. LaunchGood is another free-plan option, with no platform fee and card processing at 2.9% + 30¢ per transaction. Milaap offers a free fundraiser with zero platform fees, actual payment processing charges and voluntary tipping.

Ketto is a free-plan alternative, though its Bronze plan applies a 3% payment gateway fee and 18% GST on its success fee and payment gateway fee. M-Changa has free fundraiser setup, with one active fundraiser per phone line and a minimum withdrawal balance of KES 250 (UGX 1.5M, TZS 1M). ImpactGuru offers an Assisted plan priced at 3.00 USD per once, billed on the amount raised, with customised story support and a limited dashboard. Scrile Connect is a paid option with a free trial, starting at $79 / mo for solo creators launching a personal branded fan page. AdoptAClassroom.org is a web-based option for eligible U.S. educators, with donations provided as online credit for marketplace or Teacher Choice purchases.

Verdict

JustGiving is best for registered charities that want supporter-led pages and branded campaign tools alongside direct-donation forms. Giving Checkout is the clearest reason to choose it when fee-free direct donations and team support matter. Look elsewhere if standard processing and Gift Aid charges would apply to most of your donations, or if Grow's annual fundraising threshold makes its subscription hard to justify.
