Overview

Qualaroo is a customer-feedback platform for teams that want to ask questions within websites and apps and connect answers to user behavior. It suits product, UX, and conversion teams that need both contextual surveys and ways to interpret written responses; its main appeal is combining those jobs in one workflow.

Founded as KISSinsights in 2010, the company was acquired by ProProfs in February 2020 and is headquartered in Santa Monica, California.

Key features

Qualaroo’s in-context surveys, called Nudges, can be targeted and triggered, with branching logic, branding, more than 10 question types, and support for 100+ languages. That range helps teams tailor questions to a particular user or moment rather than funnel every visitor through the same form. NPS surveys are supported too.

Heatmaps and session recordings show clicks, scrolling, and drop-off behavior alongside feedback. This is useful when a team needs to investigate a conversion or experience problem in context; IBM Watson sentiment analysis, word clouds, and reporting add ways to sort through free-text answers.

iOS and Android SDKs support in-app feedback. Integrations include Salesforce, Tableau, Intercom, Zapier, Slack, HubSpot, Mailchimp, Google Analytics, and webhooks, giving teams several routes to connect feedback with their existing tools.

Enterprise adds roles and permissions, organization-wide collaboration, SAML SSO, and an API with callbacks and webhooks. Qualaroo says its data and dashboard are hosted on AWS EC2 in Virginia, dashboard access uses HTTPS, and passwords are stored as one-way hashes. Survey responses are not encrypted in storage, however; access is restricted using AWS Security Groups. That storage limitation matters to organizations with strict data-protection requirements.

Support includes 24/7 live chat, weekday phone support from 8 AM to 6 PM EST, email responses within one business day, and a help center.

Pricing

Qualaroo has a free plan, a 14-day trial, and monthly paid plans, plus an annual Enterprise option. The free tier allows 50 responses, 500 email sends, and 10,000 pageviews. It can be a starting point for small-scale feedback, but the response cap makes it a poor fit for sustained or high-volume collection.

Free: 0.00 USD per free, with 50 responses, 500 email sends, and 10k pageviews. Best for trying a small survey program; the 50-response ceiling is the key constraint.
Essentials: 39.99 USD per month, billed monthly, with 1,000 email sends per month and unlimited responses. It suits teams that need more response capacity but can work within the email-send allowance.
Business: 99.99 USD per month, billed monthly, with 5,000 email sends per month, 100,000 pageviews per month, and unlimited responses. The higher quotas make it a better fit for broader website programs than Essentials.
Enterprise: 1798.88 USD per year, annual plans only, with custom pageviews and email sends, unlimited responses, and unlimited users. Its custom quotas and enterprise collaboration and access controls suit larger organizations; the annual-only term is less flexible than monthly billing.

The 14-day trial includes Essentials and Premium features, but CSV response downloads and branding suppression require a paid plan. Those exclusions mean the trial does not provide every capability a team may want to evaluate before committing. Essentials and Business also have monthly email-send limits even though responses are unlimited.

Platforms

Qualaroo supports web, iOS, Android, and API use. The mobile SDKs make it relevant to teams seeking feedback inside apps as well as on websites.

Who it's for

Qualaroo is a strong fit for product and UX teams that want to target surveys to specific contexts, inspect behavior around feedback, and analyze open-text responses. Its range of question formats, languages, and integrations can serve programs spanning multiple products or audiences. Teams that need encrypted response storage should consider another option, and smaller teams should weigh the free tier’s 50-response limit against their expected volume.

Pros and cons

Pros: Targeting, triggers, and branching let teams adapt questions to user context instead of relying only on generic surveys.
Pros: Heatmaps, session recordings, and text-analysis tools put behavioral and written feedback in the same product workflow.
Pros: iOS and Android SDKs, API support, and a broad set of named integrations accommodate web and app feedback programs.
Cons: The free plan stops at 50 responses, which limits its usefulness beyond small pilots.
Cons: CSV downloads and branding suppression require a paid plan, including during the trial.
Cons: Survey responses are not encrypted in storage, a meaningful drawback for teams with strict security requirements.

Alternatives

Beamer is worth considering for teams whose needs center on its free tier, which allows 1,000 MAUs, one teammate, and one language, but includes a watermark and no API requests per month.

Pendo Analytics may suit teams that prioritize product analytics and in-app guides: its free plan supports 500 monthly active users and unlimited web and mobile app keys.

Refiner is another freemium option, with a free plan that provides 25 survey responses per month.

SatisMeter offers a free plan with 25 responses per month and has no free trial, a possible alternative for teams with modest response needs.

Userback has a free plan with two seats, two projects, unlimited feedback collection, and feedback available for seven days.

Doorbell.io is an alternative feedback tool.

Featurebase offers a free plan with one seat, unlimited conversations, and feedback, but no AI support.

Hively is another freemium alternative, with a free plan offering unlimited ratings and up to three users.

Verdict

Choose Qualaroo if your team needs contextual website or app surveys and wants behavioral views and written-response analysis in the same workflow. The combination of targeting, mobile support, and analysis tools is its clearest reason to choose it. Look elsewhere if encrypted survey-response storage is essential, or if the free plan’s 50-response cap is too restrictive for your program.
