Overview

TaxBandits supports electronic filing for 1099, W-2, 94x, ACA 1095, W-9, and BOI forms, with federal and state coverage. It also supports tax payment, form preparation, reconciliation, and year-end forms. Its audience ranges from business owners to tax professionals and service providers, and its combination of filing, data checks, integrations, and an API is most compelling for organizations managing repeat workflows rather than a single occasional return.

Key features

Bulk intake and validation

CSV templates allow bulk form-data uploads, and completed W-9 PDFs can be uploaded for AI extraction of recipient information. IRS business-rule and schema checks, TIN matching, and USPS address validation help catch issues before filing. These tools can reduce repetitive data handling for high-volume work, but do not eliminate the need to review records and resolve errors.

Integrations and API

Integrations include Sage Intacct, Karbon, QuickBooks, Xero, Zoho Books, FreshBooks, and Zapier. The API supports e-filing workflows for W-9, 1099, W-2, TIN matching, and more. That breadth gives accounting teams and service providers options to connect filing with existing systems; smaller users with little recurring volume may not need that flexibility.

Security and mobile collection

TaxBandits describes itself as SOC 2 certified and says it encrypts client data in storage and transit. Accounts can enable authenticator-app two-factor authentication. The free Companion app for iOS and Android handles W-9/W-8 management, with unlimited free collection; it is useful for gathering forms but is not a replacement for the broader filing service.

Pricing

TaxBandits is paid, with a 30-day free trial on the payroll page. Basic costs 19.00 USD per month and Plus costs 29.00 USD per month; both include unlimited pay runs and a $0 employee fee. Basic Payroll is 19.00 USD per month and includes unlimited payroll runs and pay stubs, while Plus Payroll is 29.00 USD per month and includes Basic. Both payroll plans have a $0 employee fee, but annual W-2 and 1099 filings cost extra, so the subscription is not an all-in year-end filing price.

Federal 1099 and W-2 e-filing is priced by form volume: the first 10 forms cost $2.75/form, with lower per-form prices at higher volumes. The Companion app is free to download and install, and W-9/W-8 collection is unlimited and free. Separate form charges and subscription costs make it important to estimate both payroll and year-end filing needs before choosing a plan.

Platforms

TaxBandits supports web, iOS, Android, an API, and an extension. The Companion app provides mobile W-9/W-8 collection on iOS and Android, while the API is the strongest fit for organizations building filing into their own workflows.

Who it's for

TaxBandits is a practical fit for businesses, tax professionals, and service providers that repeatedly prepare employment and information returns, particularly when bulk imports, validation, or accounting integrations can reduce manual work. Payroll users should budget separately for annual W-2 and 1099 filing. Those with only a small number of forms may prefer a pay-per-form option or a free filing portal.

Pros and cons

Pros: Bulk CSV uploads, W-9 PDF extraction, and several validation checks support recipient-data workflows at scale.
Pros: Integrations and an API cover common accounting tools and custom e-filing workflows.
Pros: Free, unlimited W-9/W-8 collection through the Companion app can simplify intake without an app charge.
Cons: Annual W-2 and 1099 filings are excluded from payroll plans and add separate costs.
Cons: Form-based filing charges mean subscription pricing alone does not show the full year-end expense.

Alternatives

Verdict

Choose TaxBandits if your business or practice handles recurring employment-form filings and will benefit from bulk intake, validation, integrations, or API workflows. Its strongest case is bringing those operational tools together; look elsewhere if you need payroll pricing to include annual W-2 and 1099 filing or only file a handful of forms.
