Overview

Resgrid brings computer-aided dispatch together with tools for managing personnel and units, scheduling, mapping, messaging, training, and workflow automation. Teams can create, assign, track, and close calls, with notifications and reporting supporting the dispatch cycle. That breadth can reduce the need to split dispatch and field coordination across separate systems; smaller organizations should weigh it against the free plan’s ceiling of 10 entities.

The five role-focused apps—Responder, Unit, IC, Dispatch, and BigBoard—are identified for iOS, Android, and web. That role-based approach gives different parts of an operation distinct app options rather than relying on one general mobile interface. The platform can also be hosted on customer servers, which offers an alternative to hosted service for organizations able to manage their own deployment.

Key features

Dispatch, coordination, and automation

Live location tracking, vehicle dispatch, calendar scheduling, mapping, and personnel and unit management extend Resgrid beyond call assignment. The workflow engine can send notifications by email, SMS, Slack, Teams, or Discord, call REST APIs and webhooks, and upload files to several storage services. That flexibility is useful when operational processes span communication tools and connected services, though free-plan users cannot use SMS.

Vehicle tracking and security

Resgrid supports Teltonika, Queclink, and Jimi/Concox vehicle GPS trackers natively, with Traccar as another integration path. This is a practical advantage for teams already using those devices. Resgrid says client and API communications use 256-bit TLS and stored data is encrypted with AES-256. Organizations pursuing a HIPAA BAA need the Advanced Data Protection add-on; Resgrid also cautions that buying the add-on alone does not make an organization HIPAA compliant. The company says it is working toward SOC 2 Type 1 and Type 2 reports and strengthening its HIPAA readiness.

Pricing

Resgrid is freemium. The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and supports up to 10 entities, but only for North American customers on the US-West data center. It includes push notifications and email, not SMS. That is a constrained entry point for small regional teams, not a fit for organizations outside the supported region or those that depend on text alerts.

Paid plans and add-ons address more specific needs:

Push-To-Talk Addon: 35.00 USD per month, billed monthly per 10-user pack. It adds two-way IP voice and up to 50 channels on Android, iOS, and web, making it relevant to teams needing in-platform voice communication.
Enhanced AI: 95.00 USD per month, billed monthly per department, and requires a paid plan. It provides private AI answers and drafts with a monthly usage budget and no overage charges; it is an optional department-level addition rather than an entry-level plan.
Readiness Pro: 150.00 USD per month per department, billed monthly even on an annual plan. It adds preventive maintenance scheduling, work orders, and parts, labor, and vendor cost tracking for teams managing equipment upkeep.
Business Ops: 250.00 USD per month per department, billed monthly even on an annual plan. Invoicing, contractor billing, cost recovery, and online payments through your Stripe account suit operations that need those financial workflows alongside dispatch.
Advanced Data Protection: 1950.00 USD per year per department, billed yearly. It adds field-level encryption for PHI and PII, per-department keys, and step-up MFA, and is required for Resgrid to sign a HIPAA BAA. The annual departmental cost is a significant consideration for organizations with that requirement.

Hosted Resgrid is updated weekly. The site also provides a knowledge center and a support-ticket submission link.

Platforms

Resgrid supports Android, iOS, web, API, Linux, macOS, Windows, and self-hosted deployments. The breadth covers common mobile and desktop environments as well as organizations that want to operate the software on their own servers.

Who it's for

Resgrid is a strong candidate for response and field operations teams that need dispatch, resource coordination, communications, and vehicle visibility together. It is particularly relevant to organizations that can use its supported GPS hardware, need workflow integrations, or value self-hosting. Teams outside North America, those needing SMS on the free tier, and organizations seeking a HIPAA BAA without the required add-on should look elsewhere or budget for a paid arrangement.

Pros and cons

Pros: Dispatch, personnel and unit management, scheduling, mapping, messaging, and automation sit in one platform, supporting coordination across the call lifecycle.
Pros: Five role-focused apps and integrations with named GPS tracker families give teams concrete ways to align mobile roles and vehicle tracking with operations.
Pros: Self-hosting is an option, while hosted service receives weekly updates.
Cons: The free plan is limited to 10 entities, North American customers on US-West, and push notifications and email; it excludes SMS.
Cons: A HIPAA BAA requires Advanced Data Protection at 1950.00 USD per year per department, and the add-on by itself does not establish compliance.

Alternatives

Choose ServiceM8 instead if a small job-based operation fits its free allowance of one user and 30 jobs per month, with 10 AI uses per day; it also offers a free trial. Choose OfficialTMS if a portal with a one-year rolling data backup and 24/7 support is the priority; its Portal Only plan is free, and a mobile-app plan is 17.00 USD per month.

BigChange is another paid option, with pricing by request and plans that include support, CRM, job scheduling, a mobile app, live tracking, quotes and invoices, business intelligence, and collaboration. DispatchCore offers a free beta and a founding-member plan at 39.00 USD per month with pricing locked in for life. Fieldpoint is a paid alternative with pricing by request. Skedulo is a paid option for appointment booking, resource assignment, dispatching, leave and unavailability management, and calendar, Gantt, and map views. Dispatch has monthly paid plans, including Pro at 139.00 USD per month for suggested teams of 1–10 users with unlimited jobs and appointments. Dispatch Pro is another paid option, with a Starter plan at 99.00 USD per month for up to 10 users and a Professional plan at 399.00 USD per month for up to 50 users.

Verdict

Resgrid is best for response and field teams that want dispatch, operational coordination, communications, and location tracking in one open-source platform, with the choice to self-host. Its role-focused apps and workflow integrations make it a capable fit for complex operations. Look elsewhere if the free plan’s regional and entity limits are too restrictive, or if HIPAA requirements make the per-department data-protection add-on impractical.
