Overview

IK Multimedia ReSing is a macOS and Windows desktop tool for replacing vocal takes with modeled voices and transforming vocal or instrumental tracks. It is best suited to producers who want voice conversion and local model creation in a plug-in or standalone workflow. The main appeal is flexible voice shaping without sending audio to external servers; the main trade-off is that the free plan does not allow model generation.

Key features

Voice transformation and custom models

Transpose, character, accent, dynamic range, and model fusion give producers more ways to shape a converted performance than a basic voice swap. Preview and built-in effects support that workflow. ReSing Modeler can create voice or instrument models locally, but the number of generations depends on the license: 10 with ReSing, 25 with ReSing MAX, or unlimited with the separate add-on for either paid license.

Model support covers English, Spanish, and Japanese. Japanese and Brazilian Portuguese voice packs add models and model-creation language support for those languages. IK says its voice datasets use original recordings made with participating singers under agreements, rather than copyrighted songs, samples, or third-party materials. Processing runs on the computer, though authorization requires an internet connection.

Doubling and studio workflow

The optional Doubling add-on creates vocal doubles, backing vocals, and stacks, with controls for timing, detuning, stereo width, volume, and pan. That makes it relevant for producers building layered vocals, but it is a separate add-on rather than a stated part of the licenses described below.

ReSing is available as both a plug-in and standalone application. Its 64-bit plug-in formats are Audio Units, VST 3, and AAX on macOS, and VST 3 and AAX on Windows. ARA2 mode is supported in Cubase 12 or later, Logic Pro X 10.4 or later on Intel, Studio One 4 or later, Nuendo 11 or later, and Reaper 5.97 or later. Minimum requirements are macOS 13.7 or newer or Windows 10 64-bit or newer, 8 GB RAM, and 9 GB of disk space.

Pricing

ReSing uses a freemium model, with one-time paid licenses and no free trial. ReSing Free costs 0.00 USD per free and includes 2 voices, 2 instruments, and 1 RVC import, but no model generation. It is a useful way to explore a small set of included material, not a route to building custom models.

ReSing costs 129.99 USD per once as a one-time payment. It includes 10 voices, 10 instruments, 10 model generations, and limited imports. This is the more suitable license for a producer who wants to create a modest number of models without paying for the larger library and import allowance in MAX.

ReSing MAX costs 199.99 USD per once for a one-time perpetual license. Its 25 voices, 25 instruments, 25 model generations, and unlimited imports make it the stronger fit for broader use or frequent importing. The Unlimited Model Generation Add-on costs 149.99 USD per once and requires ReSing or ReSing MAX; it removes the generation-count limit for owners who need ongoing model creation. A ReSing Session is a separate one-month access option for a selected Showcase model, purchased once with no automatic renewal and usable on one device at a time.

Platforms

ReSing runs on macOS and Windows. Minimum system requirements are macOS 13.7 or newer or Windows 10 64-bit or newer, plus 8 GB RAM and 9 GB of disk space. Local audio processing keeps vocal transformation on the computer, while internet access remains necessary for authorization.

Who it's for

ReSing suits music producers who want to convert vocal takes, shape modeled voices, or build local voice and instrument models. Its plug-in and standalone options cover both DAW-centered and separate workflows, while the Doubling add-on is aimed at users who need generated backing layers. It is less compelling for someone who only wants to experiment with custom models for free, since the free plan includes no model generation.

Pros and cons

Pros: Voice controls include pitch, character, accent, dynamic range, and fusion, giving users substantial control over the result.
Pros: Local model creation and on-computer processing keep the model-building and transformation workflow local.
Pros: MAX combines a larger voice and instrument allowance with 25 generations and unlimited imports.
Cons: The free plan caps users at two voices, two instruments, and one RVC import, and does not generate models.
Cons: Even the standard paid license limits generations to 10 and imports are limited; unlimited generation requires an additional purchase.
Cons: The minimum OS versions and 9 GB disk requirement rule out some older or space-constrained systems.

Alternatives

For a different kind of music software, Pianoteq is a paid instrument option with a free trial; its Stage license costs 139.00 USD per once and includes two instrument packs, support up to 48 kHz, and limited preset loading. PREMIER SOUND FACTORY is a free-plan alternative on macOS and Windows, with listed instruments that require full Kontakt 5.7 or higher rather than Kontakt Player. Virtual Drummer is a better fit for drum-focused production, with a free MIDI drum styles pack and a paid Virtual Drummer plug-in option. BBC Symphony Orchestra offers an orchestral rather than voice-conversion focus, with a free Discover edition that includes 34 instruments and 47 techniques. Vital is a free-plan synthesizer for Linux, macOS, and Windows, while Dexed and Surge XT are free software alternatives for those seeking virtual instruments rather than modeled vocal transformation. EZmix 3 is another paid option with a free trial.

Verdict

ReSing is a strong fit for producers who want modeled vocal transformation, local custom-model creation, and optional vocal doubling in a desktop workflow. Choose ReSing for a modest generation allowance or MAX for more included models and unlimited imports; look elsewhere if you need free model generation or a tool focused on another instrument category.
