Overview

Founded in 2010, IFTTT describes itself as a low-code way for apps and services to communicate; basic use requires no coding. Its library covers more than 1,000 apps, services, and devices, giving users a broad pool to connect. That range is a real advantage when the services you rely on are included, but it does not offset the Free plan’s strict limit of two Applets for users building a larger set of routines.

Examples on the Explore page include Spotify, Evernote, Todoist, Google Sheets, Android, and Philips Hue. IFTTT supports both app triggers and scheduled runs, making it suitable for automations initiated by an event or on a schedule.

Key features

Applets and automation depth

Each Applet automates actions across two or more services. Free permits two Applets, enough to try a couple of connections but not to build an extensive automation library. Pro raises the cap to 20 and adds multi-action Applets, which lets a single trigger lead to several actions. Pro+ removes the Applet limit and adds queries, filter code, multiple connected accounts per service, and access to IFTTT’s Platform. Those controls make Pro+ the better fit for users who need more elaborate automations or work across multiple accounts.

Mobile, privacy, and support

The iOS and Android apps include mobile-exclusive services and features such as notifications, widgets, and geofencing automations. That makes IFTTT more compelling for routines tied to a phone’s location or use than a web-only automation tool. IFTTT says most connected services use OAuth, which grants restricted account access without giving IFTTT the user’s password. Users can export their IFTTT data as a JSON file or delete their account in settings. Trigger checks, Applet runs, and errors are logged for seven days; activity feed information is stored for 30 days.

Support scales with the plans: Free includes 30-day onboarding support, Pro includes customer support, and Pro+ includes prioritized customer support. The paid tiers offer a clearer support path for users who depend on their automations than the time-limited onboarding help on Free.

Pricing

IFTTT uses a freemium model, with a seven-day trial and paid plans billed annually at the stated rates. The monthly figures below are the monthly equivalents, not month-to-month billing.

Plan	Price and term	What it includes	Best fit
Free	0.00 USD per free, billed forever	2 Applets, standard Applet speeds, unlimited Applet runs, free mobile app access, and 30-day onboarding support	A small starter setup or a trial of basic connections; the two-Applet cap is restrictive for ongoing use.
Pro	2.99 USD per month (billed $35.88 billed annually)	20 Applets, fastest Applet speeds, multi-action Applets, Webhooks, increased rate limits, and customer support	People with multiple smart devices or a need for multi-action automations.
Pro+	8.99 USD per month (billed $107.88 billed annually)	Unlimited Applets, AI services, multiple connected accounts, queries and filter code, and prioritized customer support	Small business owners and users who need advanced tools or many Applets.

Pro is the practical middle ground for a growing personal setup: it multiplies the Free allowance and adds faster speeds and richer actions, but still caps users at 20 Applets. Pro+ costs more and makes sense when that cap or the advanced controls are a meaningful constraint; its extra capacity is hard to justify for only a few basic automations.

Platforms

IFTTT is available on Android, iOS, and the web, and also lists an API platform. The mobile apps’ exclusive services, notifications, widgets, and geofencing give phone-centered automations a role beyond managing Applets in a browser.

Who it's for

Choose IFTTT if you want to connect familiar services or smart devices with little setup and no coding for basic use. Free suits a couple of simple automations; Pro is better for people coordinating several devices or chaining actions; Pro+ is aimed at small businesses and users who need unlimited Applets or its advanced controls. It is less compelling if two Applets are too few and you do not need the paid tiers’ extra capacity, or if your needs call for the advanced controls reserved for Pro+.

Pros and cons

Pros: More than 1,000 apps, services, and devices create a broad set of potential connections.
Pros: Mobile-exclusive services, widgets, notifications, and geofencing support phone-aware routines.
Pros: Pro adds multi-action Applets, while Pro+ includes queries, filter code, and multiple connected accounts.
Cons: Free allows only two Applets, limiting how far users can build before upgrading.
Cons: The paid monthly rates are billed annually, so the stated monthly price is not a month-to-month commitment.
Cons: Pro stops at 20 Applets; users who outgrow that ceiling must move to Pro+ for unlimited Applets.

Alternatives

Consider Make if you want a scenario-based automation option with a free plan that allows up to 1,000 credits per month, two active scenarios, and a 15-minute minimum interval; its credit and interval limits suit a different kind of constrained starter setup. Pipefy is another option to compare for process and workflow needs, with its Starter plan including five processes, 10 users, and 50 cards created per month. For a free option centered on AI agents, Taskade AI Agents includes one AI agent, up to three apps, two users, and 6,000 one-time credits on its Free plan. The linked FAT FINGER, Retool, Pyrus, Decisions, and Flowable are also alternatives to consider. Browse the Workflow automation tools and Task Automation Software lists for more options.

Verdict

IFTTT is a strong choice for people who want low-code connections across a wide mix of services, particularly when mobile features or smart-device routines matter. The decisive drawback is scale: Free stops at two Applets, and Pro still has a 20-Applet ceiling. Choose Pro for a moderate, multi-action setup; look elsewhere or move to Pro+ if those limits do not match the size or complexity of your automations.
