Overview

GrowSurf is software for marketing and product teams running customer referral or affiliate programs, particularly at growing B2C, SaaS, and fintech companies. Its strongest case is a program that needs automated rewards and product integrations; businesses in eCommerce, retail, or services are less likely to find it a good fit.

Referral campaigns use one-time incentives, while affiliate programs support recurring commissions. The distinction matters when choosing a plan: affiliate access has a free option, but referral programs are priced by participant capacity.

Key features

Referrals, rewards, and controls

GrowSurf creates referral links automatically and supports referral codes and fraud controls. It can automate gift cards, cash payouts, and account credits; PayPal payouts are also supported. This can reduce repetitive administration, though the value depends on choosing rewards and workflows that suit the program.

Integrations and developer tools

The integrations directory includes 61 options, among them Stripe, HubSpot, Salesforce, PayPal, Zapier, and webhooks. Teams building referrals into a product can use a REST API, JavaScript, iOS, and Android SDKs, API libraries, embeddable elements, and an MCP server. That breadth is useful for connected or custom implementations, but may be more than a small standalone campaign needs.

Setup and safeguards

GrowSurf says teams can launch a referral program within a day and offers a copy-and-paste installation snippet. That is a useful route to implementation, not a promise that every program will be ready on that schedule. The company describes safeguards including firewalls, IP allowlists, HTTPS with HSTS, and AES-256 encryption at rest for certain sensitive information. It says it is GDPR-compliant and processes customer personal data on documented instructions. Daily disaster-recovery backups include managed MongoDB backups retained for seven days and Firebase exports retained for up to 30 days.

Pricing

Affiliate programs have a free plan at 0.00 USD per month with no monthly subscription, a 3% success fee, up to 1,000,000 participants, five affiliate programs, and unlimited referral revenue. The high participant allowance is generous, but the success fee makes the cost variable as revenue grows.

For referral programs, Startup (yearly) costs 125.00 USD per month, billed $1,503.60 yearly, and includes up to 2,500 participants, two referral programs, two team members, and a 14-day free trial. Startup (monthly) is 179.00 USD per month, billed monthly, with the same caps and no trial stated. The annual option lowers the effective monthly price but commits the team to yearly billing; the monthly plan costs more for flexibility.

Business (yearly) costs 314.00 USD per month, billed $3,771.60 yearly, for up to 10,000 participants, five referral programs, five team members, and a 14-day free trial. Business (monthly) is 449.00 USD per month, billed monthly, with the same limits and no trial stated. It suits teams that have outgrown Startup’s participant, campaign, or seat caps, though it remains a substantial step up in cost.

Custom referral pricing is by quote for 150,000+ participants and includes expert onboarding, volume discounts, and priority support. Custom affiliate pricing is also by quote, with custom participant capacity, volume discounts, expert onboarding, and priority support. Referral Startup includes email support; Business includes realtime support. Referral program tiers are participant-based, and exceeding a tier limit can trigger an automatic prorated upgrade, so growth can raise the bill before a team chooses to change plans.

Platforms

GrowSurf supports Android, iOS, web, and API. Its SDKs for mobile platforms and web-oriented implementation tools make it relevant to teams integrating referrals into apps as well as websites.

Who it's for

GrowSurf is best suited to marketing and product teams at B2C, SaaS, fintech, and other fast-growing companies that want to connect referral or affiliate activity with their product and existing systems. It is not the best fit for eCommerce, retail, or service businesses, according to the company’s own positioning. Smaller teams should weigh the two-member Startup cap against their collaboration needs, while teams expecting rapid referral growth should account for the participant-based upgrade rule.

Pros and cons

Pros: Automated links and reward delivery can cut manual program work; integrations and SDKs cover common services and custom builds; the affiliate free plan has no monthly subscription and allows up to 1,000,000 participants.
Cons: Referral plans start at 125.00 USD per month with annual billing; Startup is capped at two team members and 2,500 participants; exceeding a referral tier’s participant limit can trigger a prorated upgrade; the affiliate free plan takes a 3% success fee.

Alternatives

ReferralHero is worth considering for a freemium route: its free plan includes up to 25 subscribers and PRO features, but carries ReferralHero branding. Cello may suit teams focused on referral revenue, with Grow at 200.00 USD per month for up to $50K referral ARR, unlimited referrals, all integrations, and all features.

Extole offers a free plan for current customers generating less than $10M in revenue, making that eligibility restriction central to the choice. The Referral Network (RefNet) is another paid option. InviteReferrals starts with a BASIC plan at 99.00 USD per month, including 1,000 new referrers per month, unlimited conversions and invites, three campaigns, and one account member.

Talkable is an option for teams seeking a managed launch path, with dedicated success support and an optimization rhythm on its Standard plan. AppVirality is another paid option. 99minds Referral may suit a small campaign needing a free entry point: its free plan allows 50 transactions, one campaign, and one integration, with a $0.5 charge per additional transaction. Verdict

Choose GrowSurf if a product or marketing team needs referral and affiliate programs with automated incentives and room to connect into its software stack. The free affiliate tier and extensive integration toolkit are compelling, but referral-program costs, seat and participant caps, and prorated upgrades make it less attractive for smaller businesses or teams whose audience may outgrow a tier quickly.
