Overview

The editor combines uploaded media, text, color choices, music, and voiceover in a template-based workflow. Designs such as Polaroid Frames, Fragmented Transitions, and Flower Garden Photo Gallery provide distinct starting points, while scene-by-scene duration controls let you shape pacing. That balance favors projects that need a designed look without building every slide from scratch; it is less suited to creators who need detailed editing beyond the controls offered.

Slideshow export quality varies by plan, from 360p, HD720, and HD1080 to a broader maximum of UHD 4K. Project duration also depends on the subscription, ranging from 3 to 60 minutes. These are practical constraints: a short watermarked draft may be enough for personal sharing, while client-facing work or longer presentations call for checking the plan’s export and duration limits first.

Key features

Templates and scene editing: Upload photos and video, choose colors, and set each scene’s duration. Templates speed up assembly, and adjustable timing is useful when a sequence needs deliberate pacing.
Music and voiceover: Add MP3 or WAV audio up to 50 MB. Dropbox and Google Drive connections in Renderforest’s video editor can bring in music or voiceover, reducing friction for users who keep audio in those services.
Export and sharing: Download a finished video or share it to social platforms from the editor. Resolution is plan-dependent, so the ability to share does not guarantee that every plan meets a project’s delivery requirements.
API access: Renderforest documents a public REST API and Node.js and PHP SDKs. Rendering through the API requires an active subscription, making this relevant to teams automating production rather than casual users.

Pricing

Renderforest is freemium. The entry price is advertised from $8/mo (annual), while the listed monthly plans are Free at 0.00 USD per free, Lite at 12.00 USD per month, Pro at 39.00 USD per month, and Business at 59.00 USD per month. The gap between the advertised annual starting price and the listed monthly prices makes it important to match the billing term to the budget.

Free — 0.00 USD per free: Basic features and HD video exports with a watermark. It can establish whether the template workflow suits a project, but watermarking limits use for polished public or commercial delivery.
Lite — 12.00 USD per month: 400 AI credits monthly, five HD720 template exports, and 10 GB storage. Its capped export count and HD720 ceiling suit occasional, modest projects better than frequent client delivery.
Pro — 39.00 USD per month: 1,600 AI credits monthly, unlimited HD720 AI video creations, unlimited HD1080 template exports, and 50 GB storage. This is the more practical listed option for regular template exports at HD1080, though it still does not provide the Business plan’s 4K export tier.
Business — 59.00 USD per month: 3,000 AI credits monthly, UHD 4K exports, and access to more than five million stock footage, music, and photo assets. It is aimed at higher-volume work where 4K output and a broad asset library justify the higher monthly cost.

Plan-dependent slideshow duration and export quality remain important alongside the headline allowances. The free plan has a watermark, and rendering through the API requires an active subscription. A free trial is not offered.

Platforms

The product is available on web, Android, and iOS. Renderforest also offers an API, with Node.js and PHP SDKs for developers; API rendering requires a subscription. The company says it processes personal data under GDPR and UK GDPR, using safeguards including encryption in transit, access controls, and secure infrastructure. Support is available at support@renderforest.com.

Who it's for

Renderforest describes its platform as serving freelancers, startups, and small businesses creating commercial, promotional, and marketing materials. The slideshow maker makes most sense for those users when repeatable templates, audio options, and scene timing matter more than deep manual control. It also suits personal slide shows, but the watermark on Free and plan-specific export limits make that tier a poor final-delivery choice for many professional projects.

Pros and cons

Pros: Templates, color choices, and per-scene timing combine structure with useful pacing control.
Pros: Music and voiceover uploads support MP3 and WAV, with Dropbox and Google Drive connections for adding audio.
Pros: The plan range reaches UHD 4K, and Pro includes unlimited HD1080 template exports.
Cons: Free exports carry a watermark, and Lite caps template exports at five in HD720.
Cons: Export quality and slideshow duration vary by plan, so a low-cost plan may not meet a project’s resolution or length requirements.
Cons: API rendering requires an active subscription, which rules out subscription-free automated use.

Alternatives

For a different template-led video workflow, Powtoon has a free plan with 720p exports, a three-minute limit, screen recording, and a watermark; its Lite plan costs 15.00 USD per month. Choose it when screen recording or its basic templates and characters are a better fit than slideshow-specific scene assembly.

VEED is another freemium option: its free plan exports only in 720p and adds a watermark, while Creator supports exports up to 1080p and removes the watermark. It is worth considering when those stated export terms better suit the project.

Adobe Express Video offers a free plan with 25 generative credits per month, more than 155,000 templates, and 5 GB of storage. Choose it when that template library and credit allowance suit the work better than Renderforest’s slideshow controls.

Predis.ai is a paid alternative with no free plan and a free trial; its Core plan costs 24.00 USD per month, billed $288 Billed Yearly. Consider it if its paid-plan approach is preferable to Renderforest’s free watermarked tier.

Canva has a free plan for one person and a free trial. It is a reasonable alternative to consider for readers who want to compare a separate design-editor option.

RenderTiger is a freemium option with a free plan and trial, including 15 credits and a first video free; its free output is up to four seconds at 720p. Choose it only if that short free output fits the need.

H3 Video has a free plan with 10 starter credits, MP4 download, 2K generation, and 6-, 10-, or 15-second lengths. It is an alternative for readers whose needs fit those generation lengths.

Kapwing offers a free plan with 10 credits, a four-minute export limit, and 720p output. Consider it when those free-plan constraints work for the project.

Verdict

Renderforest Slideshow Maker is a strong fit for freelancers and small businesses that want a template-based route to promotional slideshows with controllable scene timing and audio. Its main advantage is a clear path from basic exports to HD1080 and 4K tiers; its main drawback is that watermarking, export counts, resolution, and duration can make lower plans unsuitable for final client work. Choose it when those templates and controls match the workflow, and look elsewhere if the required output quality or length is not covered by the plan you intend to pay for.
