Overview

Freshcaller is a cloud contact center for organizations that handle customer calls across support, sales, IT, or HR. It is best suited to teams that need configurable inbound call flows and Freshworks connections; its usage-based charges make call volume an important part of the buying decision.

Business numbers from more than 90 countries and bring-your-own-carrier support give teams flexibility in how they connect telephony. Agents can work on the web, Android, or iOS, and Freshcaller connects with Freshdesk, Freshservice, Freshworks CRM, and two-way marketplace integrations. Key features

Routing and call handling

Team-, time-, and intent-based routing, queue callbacks, and routing automation help direct callers to the right people or queues. That flexibility is useful when a business has several call types or schedules to manage, but may be more machinery than a small team with a straightforward call flow needs. An auto attendant supports caller self-direction, and agents can hold, mute, transfer, conference, forward, or drop voicemail during calls.

Call intelligence and automation

Recordings, post-call transcripts, call-lifecycle information, and live dashboards support conversation review and call monitoring. Voice bots and speech-enabled IVR can handle repetitive queries and help reduce wait times, which is most useful for teams with recurring requests. Feature access varies by plan: for example, speech-enabled IVR is included in Enterprise, while routing automation appears in Pro.

Freshworks connections and security

Agents can place calls from Freshdesk and turn a call into a ticket with one click, a practical advantage for support teams already working in that product. Freshworks says its services use AES 256-bit encryption at rest and HTTPS with TLS 1.2 in transit. Its Trust Center lists SOC 2 Type 2, ISO/IEC 27001:2022, ISO/IEC 27701:2019, SOC 3, PCI DSS v4.0.0, and other compliance resources. Freshworks says standalone Freshcaller is not PCI DSS applicable; its data stores are encrypted in transit and at rest, with controls audited against SOC 2, ISO 27001, ISO 27701, and Cyber Essentials Plus.

Pricing

Freshcaller uses freemium, pay-as-you-go pricing, with per-minute charges. The 14-day trial gives access to all features in the Enterprise Plan, offering a way to assess the higher-tier toolkit before choosing a plan. Cancellation carries no fee but takes effect at the end of the term.

Plan	Price and allowance	What it means
Free	0.00 USD per free (billed $0/agent/month + pay/min, billed annually); unlimited agents	A no-subscription starting point for teams willing to pay for usage. Per-minute charges still apply.
Growth	15.00 USD per month, billed annually; 2,000 incoming minutes/month included	Adds number porting, wait queues, voicemail, warm/cold transfer, call recording, and day passes at $2/pass. A fit for teams needing core call-center functions and a defined monthly inbound allowance.
Pro	39.00 USD per month, billed annually; 3,000 incoming minutes/month included	Adds holiday routing, call center agent statuses, routing automation, call conferencing, smart escalations, and day passes at $7/pass. It suits teams that need more control over routing and escalation.
Enterprise	69.00 USD per month, billed annually; 5,000 incoming minutes/month included	Adds speech-enabled IVR, agent statuses, abandoned call metrics, service level monitoring, and day passes at $12/pass. The larger allowance and monitoring tools target higher-volume operations.

Growth, Pro, and Enterprise list increasing included inbound-minute allowances, but Freshcaller remains pay-as-you-go with per-minute charges. Teams should compare expected call volume with those allowances and account for usage beyond them. The Free plan has no included-minute figure, so its pay-per-minute structure is especially important to weigh before relying on it for sustained calling.

Platforms

Freshcaller is available on web, Android, and iOS. The mobile app supports iOS 10 and higher and Android 5.0 and higher, and is available only in English. That language limit may rule it out for teams that need a mobile interface in another language.

Who it's for

Freshcaller is aimed at customer support, sales, IT, and HR teams. It is a stronger match for organizations that need call routing, recordings, transcripts, dashboards, or Freshworks workflows than for teams seeking only a basic phone line. The free tier offers a low-commitment entry point, while the upper plans better fit teams needing routing automation or service-level monitoring.

Pros and cons

Pros: Multiple routing methods, queue callbacks, and an auto attendant give teams options for organizing inbound calls.
Pros: Recordings, transcripts, lifecycle information, and dashboards support call review and operational oversight.
Pros: Freshdesk calling and one-click call-to-ticket conversion streamline support workflows in Freshdesk.
Cons: Pay-per-minute charges apply, so the plan price alone does not determine calling costs.
Cons: The mobile app is English-only and has stated minimum OS versions, limiting its fit for some users.
Cons: Freshcaller is not PCI DSS applicable as a standalone service, which may not suit organizations that require that status for the contact-center product itself.

Verdict

Choose Freshcaller if your support or operations team needs flexible inbound routing, call intelligence, and a close Freshdesk workflow. Its broad call-handling toolkit and free entry tier are compelling, but per-minute charges, plan-specific allowances, and the English-only mobile app deserve careful consideration. Teams that need PCI DSS applicability for the standalone contact-center service or a non-English mobile app should look elsewhere.
