Overview

frePPLe connects forecasts to inventory, replenishment, and production plans, which can help teams translate changing demand into operational decisions. Production plans account for finite material supply and resource capacity, and an interactive Gantt chart lets planners adjust jobs. Forecasting uses statistical and AI techniques, offers method selection, and supports team review and editing. Inventory planning calculates safety stocks and reorder quantities, generates replenishment orders, and supports item segmentation and tailored business rules.

Key features

Forecasting: Hierarchical forecasts at SKU-location granularity make the system relevant to teams planning demand across products and locations. Method choice and collaborative review allow planners to refine forecasts rather than accept a single default output.
Production planning: Accounting for material supply and resource capacity makes the production plan more grounded in constraints. The Gantt chart provides a way to adjust jobs interactively; teams wanting only high-level forecasts may not need this breadth.
Inventory and replenishment: Safety-stock calculations, reorder quantities, generated replenishment orders, segmentation, and business rules give inventory teams several levers for tailoring plans.
Integration: REST API, CSV, Excel, and direct database access offer multiple connection paths. Community also includes two-way Odoo integration, a specific advantage for organizations using that system.
Scenario planning: Scenario planning is supported, but the Cloud edition is capped at six scenarios. That may constrain teams comparing many alternatives; Enterprise offers unlimited scenarios.

Pricing

frePPLe has a free open-source Community edition and a 15-day trial. Subscription pricing is based on active item-location pairs, and the displayed calculator describes a size below 20,000 pairs. Academic users can ask the company about its free scheme.

Plan	What it offers	Best fit
Community	Free open-source edition; browser-based and multilingual, with DIY support through the user group.	Teams able to manage the software themselves and rely on community support.
Cloud	Professional support; maximum six scenarios.	Teams seeking hosted service and able to work within the scenario cap.
Cloud PLUS	Hosted on frePPLe cloud servers with doubled resource allocation; scenarios limited by storage.	Teams needing greater resource allocation than Cloud.
Enterprise	Installed on customer hardware, unlimited scenarios, and professional support.	Organizations that need infrastructure control or unrestricted scenario planning.

Cloud and Enterprise have custom pricing. The lower-cost Community route gives up professional support, while Cloud places a firm ceiling on scenarios. Cloud PLUS ties scenario count to storage, and Enterprise trades hosted convenience for customer-side installation and infrastructure responsibility.

Platforms

frePPLe supports web, API, Linux, and self-hosted use. Community and Enterprise offer Ubuntu Linux binaries and Docker images; Enterprise is for on-premise installation. The browser-based Community app is multilingual. Customer-hosted Enterprise is a sensible option where policy or regulation rules out cloud hosting.

Who it's for

frePPLe is a strong fit for manufacturers and supply-chain teams that want forecasting, inventory, replenishment, and capacity-aware production planning in one system. It also suits organizations needing a customer-hosted deployment. It is less compelling for a team seeking only lightweight demand forecasts, or for users who need professional support but cannot take on a paid deployment.

Pros and cons

Pros: Connects demand forecasts with inventory, replenishment, and constrained production planning, reducing the need to separate those planning activities.
Pros: Multiple integration routes, including two-way Odoo integration in Community, give teams practical options for connecting existing systems.
Pros: Enterprise supports customer infrastructure and unlimited scenarios for organizations with control or scenario-scale requirements.
Cons: Community support is DIY through a user group, so organizations needing professional help should consider Cloud or Enterprise.
Cons: Cloud's six-scenario maximum can restrict teams that compare many planning cases.
Cons: Subscription costs depend on active item-location pairs, making scale an important part of budget planning.

Alternatives

For a paid, web-based demand-planning option, RELEX Demand Planning is worth comparing. ToolsGroup Demand Planning is another paid web option, with pricing dependent on capabilities, scope, users, integrations, and implementation requirements. Infor Demand Planning is a paid web alternative.

Horizon Demand Planning has a free plan as well as paid, web-based options; its License plan starts at approximately €2,000 per month per module, includes three users, and has implementation support dependent on scope. Anaplan is a paid option spanning web, mobile, and API platforms, with pricing provided by quote. Blue Ridge Supply Chain Intelligence is another paid alternative.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Demand Planning is a paid alternative without a free plan; its Supply Chain Management edition includes demand-planning capabilities at 210.00 USD per month, billed annually. Netstock Demand Planning is paid, web-based, and has no free plan; its subscription starts at 900.00 USD per month on an annual basis.

Verdict

Choose frePPLe if your team needs forecasts to inform inventory, replenishment, and capacity-aware production decisions, especially when self-hosting or unlimited Enterprise scenarios matter. Look elsewhere if you need professional support at no-cost Community level or if the Cloud scenario ceiling cannot accommodate your planning work.
