Overview

FleetCam is a configurable camera and driver-safety system for commercial vehicles, pairing AI event detection with video evidence and coaching. It suits fleets that need visibility across varied vehicle types; its device-based footage storage makes retention an important operational consideration.

FTS combines video events with GPS tracking, dispatch and reports in its IntelliHub dashboard. FleetCam is positioned for uses ranging from school buses and tow trucks to landscaping, waste management, street sweeping, emergency services and government operations.

Key features

Video coverage and event detection

Managers can stream live video from as many as five cameras on one vehicle at a time, and review or download historical clips remotely. AI detection covers drowsiness, distraction, phone use, seatbelt violations, smoking, harsh driving, lane departure and tailgating. Risk scoring, video evidence and compliance tools make the system relevant to fleets that want safety events to support follow-up, not just recording.

Configurations can use up to eight cameras for a 360-degree vehicle view, including IP67-rated waterproof exterior cameras. That breadth can help operators with varied vehicle layouts, though it does not raise the five-camera simultaneous live-stream limit.

Storage, privacy and coaching

Footage stays on the device, with event clips uploaded when triggered. Other footage can be requested only while it remains on the device, and retention depends on onboard storage configuration. Fleets should account for that when deciding how much historical footage they need to preserve.

The optional privacy module lets drivers switch off the driver-facing camera during breaks; some configurations can detect certain driver events without recording driver-facing video. Drivers can also review and dispute event clips. DriveShield supports driver review and acknowledgment through a phone app or web portal, with training courses and supervisor intervention available.

Vehicle data and integrations

FleetCam Pro can connect over OBD-II or JBUS to collect diagnostics such as RPM, speed, fuel level, odometer readings and engine codes. The FleetCam REST API can retrieve event footage, play live or historical streams and download video, but customers must request API access from FTS Support. FTS also provides a guide for linking devices to vehicles through its FleetCam for Geotab add-in.

Pricing

FleetCam has custom pricing based on fleet size, products deployed and contract terms; most fleets are priced per vehicle per month. The FleetCam plan has no published rate, so request a demo for a proposal. The per-vehicle model makes fleet scale and contract terms central to the budget, rather than offering a fixed self-serve price.

FTS can coordinate professional installation, while many fleets install with their own teams. Choose the latter only if your operation can manage deployment; otherwise, include installation coordination in the proposal discussion.

Platforms

FleetCam supports Android, iOS, web and API access. Its quick-start guide directs users to install the Titan app on Android or iOS to calibrate the camera. FTS lists 24/7 USA-based support by phone and email. It announced successful completion of a SOC 2 audit in June 2024.

Who it's for

FleetCam is a strong fit for commercial operators that need configurable multi-camera coverage, driver risk detection and a coaching workflow across vehicles such as buses, tow trucks, sweepers or service fleets. It is less suitable for buyers who require a fixed published price or want all footage uploaded continuously: non-event video remains dependent on device storage.

Pros and cons

Pro: Up to eight cameras, including waterproof exterior units, support broad vehicle coverage, while live viewing can show up to five cameras at once.
Pro: Detection, risk scoring, clip review and DriveShield coaching connect safety events to driver follow-up.
Pro: FleetCam Pro adds vehicle diagnostics, and IntelliHub places video events alongside GPS, dispatch and reports.
Con: Retention for footage beyond uploaded event clips depends on onboard storage and whether the video is still on the device when requested.
Con: Custom per-vehicle pricing requires a proposal, making costs harder to compare without fleet and contract details.

Alternatives

For a different fleet-safety option, compare the Fleet Safety Software list; for camera-focused choices, see Fleet Dash Camera Software.

GoFleexo Driver Safety uses a custom enterprise solution shaped around modules, integrations, deployment architecture and rollout sequence; consider it if those deployment choices are the priority.
Radius Driver Safety Software has pricing affected by fleet size, vehicle type, contract length, features and installation method, making it another option for fleets evaluating those factors.
5Keys Engage is a paid alternative with pricing available by contacting Smith System.
LightMetrics RideView offers custom pricing by quote request.
Lytx Fleet Safety offers a free trial and requests fleet size and industry through its sales form for pricing.
Powerfleet VisionAI serves light, medium and heavy-duty vehicle fleets with single- or dual-lens cameras.
Azuga lists BasicFleet at 25.00 USD per month, billed per vehicle per month, with core tracking, driver scores and rewards, reports, geofencing and two-minute location updates.
CameraMatics requires a quote request and is best suited for fleets of 10+ vehicles.

Verdict

Choose FleetCam if your commercial fleet needs configurable camera coverage, AI-driven safety events and a route from recorded clips to driver coaching. Look elsewhere if predictable published pricing or retention independent of onboard storage matters more than its integrated camera and fleet-safety capabilities.
