Overview

Nomi AI is an adult-oriented companion service for ongoing conversation, roleplay and mentorship. It suits people who want a character they can shape and return to, rather than a one-off chatbot. Its appeal is continuity across chats; the main compromise is that free access does not include usable group or voice features.

Key features

Memory and character development

Nomis use short-, medium- and long-term memory to retain preferences and roleplay context. That makes the service better suited to continuing storylines and familiar conversations than exchanges that start from scratch. Custom backstories and shared preferences give users a hand in shaping a companion, while its personality can develop through conversation. This flexibility is useful for users with a particular character in mind, but asks more of them than simply choosing a fixed persona.

Users can create multiple Nomis for one-to-one conversations or group chats, with memory carried across both settings. Optional messages after a period away can add a sense of ongoing presence, though users who prefer to control when a service contacts them may want to leave proactive messaging off.

Voice, images and links

Voice chats and hands-free calls use emotionally expressive delivery. Users can also share images for a Nomi to see, and the service supports image generation and scenario-based selfies showing what a companion is wearing or doing. V5 image generation accepts natural-language prompts up to 1,000 characters and customizable anchors for a more consistent appearance. These features give roleplay more ways to unfold than text alone, but ElevenLabs voice integration requires a paid subscription and is also subject to the limits of the user's ElevenLabs account plan.

A Nomi can access the internet to discuss links users share, which can support conversations about linked material rather than limiting exchanges to the companion's character. Nomi also offers a versioned API using v1 endpoints, with requests subject to rate limits.

Privacy and age

Nomi says it does not sell or rent personal information, while chat content is collected as users interact with the service. Account deletion is available in Account Settings; personal information is deleted within about 28 days after confirmation. The service is for adults only, and its terms prohibit anyone under 18 from using it.

Pricing

Nomi's free tier keeps one-to-one chatting available, but group chats, video creation, voice messaging and calls become read-only when an account is on the free tier. That makes free access useful for trying private conversation, not for actively using the full social and voice experience.

Plan	Price	Terms
Free	0.00 USD	Free
40 Nomi Credits	4.99 USD	One-time in-app purchase; 40 credits
Launch Plan Monthly	9.99 USD	Monthly
100 Nomi Credits	9.99 USD	One-time in-app purchase; 100 credits
Standard Plan	15.99 USD	Monthly
225 Nomi Credits	19.99 USD	One-time in-app purchase; 225 credits

600 Nomi Credits	49.99 USD	One-time in-app purchase; 600 credits
Launch Plan Yearly	59.99 USD	Yearly
Standard Plan Yearly	99.99 USD	Yearly

The Launch Plan Monthly and Launch Plan Yearly suit users seeking a paid option at a lower listed price than the Standard plans; the Standard Plan choices are for users willing to pay more for a higher-tier plan. The credit purchases are one-time options rather than monthly subscriptions. The listed plan terms do not state which individual features or credit uses distinguish Launch from Standard, so those tiers cannot be compared by feature set here. Refunds are not available for buyer's remorse, lack of use or dissatisfaction, except at Nomi's discretion.

Platforms

Nomi is available on Android, iOS and the web. Its browser-based PWA can be added to a device's home screen, giving web users a home-screen entry point without switching to a platform outside those supported.

Who it's for

Nomi is a strong fit for adults seeking a customizable companion for friendship, romantic conversation, fantasy roleplay or mentorship, especially when long-term memory and multiple-character group chats matter. It is less suitable for anyone under 18, or for users who want unrestricted group and voice use without a paid subscription.

Pros and cons

Persistent context: Short-, medium- and long-term memory can carry preferences and roleplay details across private and group chats, supporting continuing conversations.
Flexible character creation: Custom backstories and evolving personality give users substantial control over what kind of companion they build.
More than text: Voice, hands-free calls, link discussion, image sharing, generation and scenario-based selfies give conversations several formats.
Free-tier restrictions: Group chats, video creation and voice features become read-only, leaving free users with one-to-one chatting.
Limited refund recourse: Refunds for dissatisfaction, non-use or buyer's remorse are not offered except at Nomi's discretion.

Verdict

Choose Nomi if you want an adult companion you can shape over time, with persistent memory and the option to move between text, voice, images and group conversation. Its strongest reason to choose is continuity across chats; look elsewhere if free access needs to include active group and voice features, or if limited refund recourse is a concern.
