Overview

Fadr combines stem separation and remixing with text-driven instrument and drum-kit creation. Basic covers core separation, MIDI detection and Remix Maker without a subscription; Plus adds finer stem choices, longer uploads, WAV exports, plugins, API access and unlimited storage. That makes Fadr more than a splitter, but readers who only need a simple mobile remix app may prefer a narrower option.

Key features

Separate tracks and remix

Basic separates vocals, melodies, drums and bass, with unlimited stems, remixes and DJ sets and high-quality MP3 downloads. For experimentation and shorter source tracks, that is a substantial free starting point. The 10-minute upload limit is restrictive for longer recordings.

Plus expands separation to 18 stem types, including lead and background vocals, kick, snare, piano, guitar, strings and wind, and accepts tracks up to an hour. The maximum upload size is 200 MB. Greater separation detail is useful when a remix needs a particular part rather than a broad vocal or drum stem; WAV downloads also give producers an option beyond Basic's MP3 export.

Generate instruments and drum kits

Siren turns words into playable instruments and provides ADSR controls alongside low-pass, high-pass, band-pass and notch filters. That gives sound designers ways to shape generated sounds rather than treating each result as a finished preset. Siren works online, as an iPhone and iPad app, and as an audio plugin for major DAWs.

DrumGPT generates 16-element drum kits from text prompts, with pitch, volume and amplitude-envelope controls. It is suited to assembling a kit from a prompt, while users who need a different kind of sound-design workflow may find the feature set too specific.

Plugins and API

The Stems Plugin works with major DAWs and software that support VST3, with Windows VST3 and Mac VST3/AU versions. This can keep stem work closer to a production workflow than a web-only tool.

The API separates audio into vocals, drums, bass, melodies and instrumental, and can detect MIDI, chords, key and tempo. Its Create Stem Task endpoint costs US$0.05 per minute of audio, and API use requires Plus. Fadr says API files move through temporary presigned upload and download URLs and are stored in secure cloud storage. The service is a web platform hosted in the United States; its terms say it is not tailored to industry-specific regulations such as HIPAA or FISMA, so it is not a fit for regulated workflows that require those protections.

Pricing

Fadr Basic: 0.00 USD per free. It includes vocals, melodies, drums and bass, MP3 downloads, MIDI detection and Remix Maker, with unlimited stems, remixes and DJ sets. The 10-minute upload limit and MP3-only downloads are the main trade-offs.

Fadr Plus: 10.00 USD per month, billed $10/mo. It adds 18 stem types, uploads up to one hour, WAV downloads, plugins, API access and unlimited storage. Plus is the better fit for longer material, more precise separation or DAW and API workflows; readers using only short tracks and MP3 exports can stay on Basic.

The API's Create Stem Task endpoint is priced at US$0.05 per minute of audio, with Plus required for API access.

Platforms

Fadr is available on the web, iOS, macOS, Windows and through its API. Siren is offered online, as an iPhone and iPad app, and as a plugin; the Stems Plugin supports VST3 software on Windows and VST3/AU on Mac. The platform mix spans mobile creation and desktop production, though the core service is web-based.

Who it's for

Fadr fits remixers who want free, unlimited basic stem and Remix Maker use on tracks no longer than 10 minutes, and producers who will pay for longer uploads, WAV output or more detailed stems. Its plugin and API options also suit users integrating separation into a DAW or software workflow. It is a poor match for regulated work requiring HIPAA- or FISMA-tailored service terms.

Pros and cons

Pro: Basic includes unlimited stems, remixes and DJ sets, making ongoing experimentation possible without a subscription.
Pro: Plus combines 18 stem types, hour-long uploads, WAV downloads, plugins and API access in one plan.
Pro: Siren and DrumGPT add controllable instrument and kit creation beyond song separation.
Con: Basic's 10-minute upload cap excludes longer songs unless you upgrade.
Con: API access requires Plus, and stem-task processing is separately priced at US$0.05 per minute.
Con: Fadr's terms do not tailor the service to HIPAA, FISMA or other industry-specific regulations.
