Overview

Evite is an online invitation and event-planning service for hosts who want to manage guest responses and coordination in one place. It is strongest for casual gatherings and occasional events; recurring hosts can consider Pro, while the free tier’s 12-guest limit quickly narrows its usefulness for larger lists.

Free Event Pages work in a browser, so guests can RSVP without installing an app. Paid invitation packages and Pro offer higher capacities, but the packages are for single-event use and Pro is an annual subscription.

Key features

Invitations and guest management

Hosts can customize invitations and send them by email, text, or link, then track RSVPs, message guests, and send automatic reminders. Keeping those tasks together is useful when a host needs to follow up or share changes. The Free plan’s 12-guest cap makes it better suited to small gatherings than a broad guest list.

Event Pages and coordination

Free Event Pages are intended for casual events and can be created on a phone, tablet, or desktop browser. Guests can RSVP without downloading an app, which removes a step for invitees who do not want to install one. Sign-up sheets let guests claim items or tasks, such as potluck contributions or volunteer slots, making the page useful for basic coordination as well as headcounts.

Cards and design

Digital greeting cards can be sent immediately or scheduled by text or email. Hosts can also upload their own invitation designs; Evite says its Canva app can send a design directly to Evite. These options broaden the service beyond event invitations, though the premium invitation experience is where Evite adds ad-free presentation, a matching envelope and stamps, and extra photo and text cards.

Privacy and eligibility

Evite says it uses physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards, including access restrictions and firewalls, while acknowledging that no system can be completely secure. Users must be at least 16 to register or use the service, and 18 to purchase subscriptions.

Pricing

Evite is freemium. The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and includes free invitations and Event Pages; its stated guest limit is 12. Premium invitation prices vary with guest-list size, so the free option is most practical for small events that do not need the paid invitation presentation.

The paid invitation packages are single-event purchases, despite their monthly billing labels. Silver costs 17.99 USD per month for 12 guests, Gold costs 36.99 USD per month for 30 guests, Platinum costs 68.99 USD per month for 75 guests, and Diamond costs 99.99 USD per month for 750 guests. The larger tiers raise the capacity substantially, but their single-event terms make them a different fit from a subscription for hosts running multiple events.

Evite Pro costs 249.99 USD per year and supports up to 2,500 guests per invitation. It is positioned for hosts with multiple events a year, including businesses, schools, clubs, organizations, and weddings. The annual commitment and higher cost make it less compelling for someone planning just one small gathering.

Platforms

Evite offers apps for Android and iOS, as well as web access. Event Pages can be created in a mobile or desktop browser, and guests can RSVP without downloading the app, a practical advantage for mixed-device guest lists.

Who it's for

Evite fits hosts who want invitations, RSVP tracking, guest messages, reminders, and simple contribution or volunteer sign-ups together. Free Event Pages suit casual gatherings, while larger one-off events can use a package matched to the guest count. Pro is the more relevant option for organizations and hosts managing multiple events, particularly when a single invitation may need to reach many guests.

It is a weaker fit for a recurring host seeking a low-cost per-event option, or for a guest list above 12 that needs to stay on the free plan. Premium packages add capacity and presentation, but involve a separate purchase for each event.

Pros and cons

Pro: Invitations combine RSVP tracking, guest messaging, and automatic reminders, reducing the need to manage those steps separately.
Pro: Browser-based Event Pages let guests respond without an app and include sign-up sheets for contributions or volunteer tasks.
Pro: Pro supports up to 2,500 guests per invitation, serving larger events and multi-event hosts.
Con: The Free plan is capped at 12 guests, so it does not stretch to larger gatherings.
Con: Paid invitation packages are for single-event use, which can make repeated events less convenient than an annual plan.
Con: Premium invitation pricing depends on guest-list size, so the cost varies with the event’s scale.

Alternatives

For another invitation-focused option, compare Invitation Maker Software or AI Invitation Generators; for broader event tools, see Event Management Software.

Paperless Post is worth considering if a paid invitation service with a free allowance of 50 invitations is a better fit; its Basic option is priced per guest and per event. Choose Partiful if a free core platform and optional paid premium designs suit the event better. Smilebox is an alternative for free slideshow creation.

Greenvelope may suit hosts who prefer a one-time mailing or an annual membership; it has no free plan. Punchbowl offers a 7-day membership trial that becomes a subscription unless canceled, and requires payment details. Greetings Island is another freemium option. Apple Invites is a paid alternative for web and iOS. InviteDrop may suit hosts seeking a free tier with five invitations per event, RSVP tracking, and email or text delivery.

Verdict

Choose Evite if you want an invitation and RSVP workflow that also handles reminders and simple guest coordination, especially for casual events where a browser-based page keeps participation accessible. Its free tier works best for small lists; for larger or recurring events, weigh the single-event package costs against Pro’s annual subscription. Hosts who need more generous free capacity or a different invitation model should compare alternatives.
