Overview

Evidently brings together a Python library and platform for LLMs, RAG applications, AI agents, and predictive ML. The Apache 2.0 framework includes more than 100 evaluation metrics, while the platform adds tracing, storage for application data and evaluation runs, test-dataset management, and dashboards. That breadth makes it relevant to teams monitoring traditional models as well as generative AI systems.

Automated evaluations measure output quality, safety, and reliability, and can run in pipelines with visual reports. A live dashboard tracks evaluation results and quality checks to help spot drift, regressions, and emerging risks. Teams can also create realistic, edge-case, or adversarial inputs tailored to their use case. Red-team tests target jailbreaks, prompt injections, data leaks, harmful content, and prompt leakage, giving teams a way to probe risks alongside routine evaluation.

Predictive ML workflows include metrics for model performance, data drift, and data quality. Evidently Cloud can send monitoring alerts to Slack, Discord, and email. Together, these features cover development checks and ongoing monitoring, though the free cloud tier’s project, seat, and data caps may constrain collaborative use.

Key features

Evaluation and testing: More than 100 Python-library metrics and automated checks for AI output quality, safety, and reliability support repeatable assessment in pipelines, with visual reports for review.
Tracing and application data: LLM and agent tracing, prompt management, and storage for application data and evaluation runs help teams track AI application behavior alongside results.
Test data and red teaming: Use tailored synthetic inputs, including edge cases and adversarial examples, and probe for specific security and safety failures. This is useful for teams building test coverage around known risk categories, not a substitute for broader security work.
Continuous monitoring: Dashboards track quality checks over time, while Slack, Discord, and email alerts can bring monitoring signals into team workflows.
Predictive ML monitoring: Built-in performance, drift, and data-quality metrics extend the product beyond LLM observability to conventional ML operations.

Pricing

Evidently separates its open-source framework from cloud usage tiers. The free options are meaningful for individual experiments and modest team projects, but the caps matter once data volumes, projects, or collaborators grow.

Open-source — 0.00 USD per free: Core AI evaluation and testing, 100+ metrics, local self-hosted dashboards, API/CLI, and Discord/docs support. This is the clearest fit for teams comfortable running their own setup. It gives up the hosted platform quotas and email support of Pro.
Developer — 0.00 USD per free: 10,000 rows/month, 1GB snapshots, 3 projects, 2 seats, and community support. It suits a small team validating a limited workload; the monthly row and storage allowances, two-seat cap, and three-project limit can become restrictive.
Pro — 80.00 USD per month, billed Monthly Billing: 100,000 rows/month, 100GB snapshots, 10 projects, 5 seats, and email support. Additional usage costs $10 per 10,000 additional rows/month and $1 per additional GB stored. It is the practical step up for teams needing more capacity and direct support, but those overages make sustained growth more expensive than the base price alone suggests.
Enterprise — custom pricing: Custom limits, SSO, roles, audit logs, private cloud, and premium support make this the tier for organizations with tailored access, deployment, or governance needs.
Startups — custom pricing: All core features, free credits toward Pro, and premium support are offered as a special offer. It may suit eligible startups seeking Pro access, though the offer has custom pricing.

The open-source offering has community support through Discord and documentation; Pro includes email support, and Enterprise includes premium support. A trial is available for the self-hosted Enterprise version by contacting Evidently.

Platforms

Evidently supports API, Linux, macOS, self-hosted, web, and Windows environments. Deployment options include both self-hosted and hosted approaches, so teams can choose between local control and cloud-based workflows. Evidently says it takes reasonable steps to secure personal data and transfers data only where adequate controls are in place.

Who it's for

Evidently is a strong fit for AI and ML teams that want one toolkit for evaluating outputs, tracing LLM or agent behavior, and monitoring deployed systems. The open-source framework particularly suits teams that want local dashboards and API/CLI access without a paid subscription. Developer is better for small hosted projects within its tight quotas; Pro is more appropriate when a team needs greater monthly capacity, more projects and seats, and email support. Organizations requiring private cloud, custom access controls, audit logs, or premium support should consider Enterprise.

It is less compelling for teams whose needs are limited to a small, low-volume hosted project but require more than two seats, or for workloads likely to exceed Pro’s included rows and storage without budget headroom for overages.

Pros and cons

Pros: The Apache 2.0 framework and 100+ metrics give teams a substantial local evaluation foundation without a subscription.
Pros: Evaluation, tracing, dataset management, dashboards, and monitoring alerts span both AI application checks and ongoing operations.
Pros: Predictive ML metrics for performance, drift, and data quality make it useful beyond LLM-specific workflows.
Cons: Developer’s two-seat, three-project, 10,000-row, and 1GB snapshot limits leave little room for a growing hosted team.
Cons: Pro’s 100,000-row and 100GB allowances can incur additional monthly row and storage charges when exceeded.
Cons: Community support is the support level for the free offerings, while email support starts with Pro.

Laminar is worth comparing if its free plan’s 1 GB data allowance, 7-day retention, one project, and one seat meet your needs without overage charges.
Langfuse may suit a small team that can work within its Hobby plan’s 50k units/month, 30 days of data access, and two users, or wants its Core plan at 29.00 USD per month.
Maxim AI is another freemium option to compare for a small developer setup with up to 3 seats, 1 workspace, 10k logs per month, and 3-day data retention.
Memoturn is an alternative with an Apache-2.0 self-hosted core.
Opik may appeal to teams that want downloadable open-source observability and evaluation features they can run locally.
Qualdo-MQX is an alternative with a Starter plan at 79.00 USD per month, covering up to 100 GB of data and 10 ML models.
W&B Weave is worth comparing if its Free plan’s 1 GB/month ingestion, 5 GB/month storage, and AI application evaluations, tracing, and scorers fit the workload.
Arize AX may fit teams that prioritize a free SaaS tier with unlimited users and evaluations, 25k trace spans/month, 1 GB monthly ingestion, and 15-day retention.

Verdict

Choose Evidently AI if your team needs evaluation, tracing, and monitoring across LLMs, agents, RAG applications, and predictive ML, especially if an open-source local workflow is valuable. Its breadth and Apache 2.0 framework are the main reasons to choose it; the key reason to look elsewhere is that hosted free-tier limits are tight and Pro overages can raise costs as usage grows.
