Overview

It is strongest for desktop-based projects that benefit from a broad set of page, theme, and commerce tools; mobile and tablet editing is not supported.

The free plugin offers a practical way to start building, while paid tiers scale by site count and add capabilities. The key trade-off is that plan limits matter: Essential, for example, includes Dynamic Content but excludes custom fields and post types.

Key features

Visual building and content

Elementor’s live drag-and-drop editor lets users build WordPress pages visually. The free version includes the core editor, essential builder features, and 32 widgets; the broader product advertises more than 100 widgets for design, marketing, and ecommerce. Theme and popup builders extend its reach beyond page layouts, and the 10-template library offers a starting point, though not a large catalog for users who depend on ready-made designs.

Dynamic content can support sites with changing or structured material, but the Essential plan’s exclusion of custom fields and post types makes it a limited fit for projects built around those features. Version 4’s Atomic Editor adds Classes, Variables, reusable Components, lighter CSS, and single-div wrappers, giving developers and design teams more ways to organize and reuse styling.

AI, integrations, and commerce

Elementor AI can generate pages, layouts, images, content, and code. Elementor One packages AI generation under a shared monthly credit allowance, so the included quota is central to choosing between its 25,000-credit One plan and the 350,000-credit One Agency plan. The latter is intended for unlimited sites, while One is capped at one.

Elementor supports WooCommerce store design and connects with more than 60,000 WordPress repository plugins. Form integrations include services such as Mailchimp, HubSpot, Zapier, Slack, and webhooks, but access is plan-dependent: plugin subscribers need Advanced or higher, and hosting customers need Business or Sell+ Pro or higher. MCP connections can link sites with Claude, Codex, Cursor, and other tools.

Elementor Host is a separate cloud hosting product that bundles WordPress, Elementor Pro, managed hosting, Google Cloud, and Cloudflare CDN. Enterprise customers receive threat monitoring, vulnerability scans, and performance audits; the enterprise offer also states a 99.99% uptime guarantee. These capabilities suit larger operations, but are not necessary reasons for a small site owner to choose the editor.

Pricing

Elementor uses a freemium model. Its no-cost plugin includes 32 widgets and the core drag-and-drop editor, with no free trial for paid plans. Paid plans are billed annually and renew at the regular rate; the pricing page states a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Plan	Included scope	Best fit
Essential	1 site, 57 Editor Pro widgets, and Dynamic Content; custom fields and post types are unavailable.	A basic single-site project that can work within those content limits.
Advanced Solo	1 site.	A single-site user seeking an Advanced-tier option.
Advanced	3 sites.	Owners of a small portfolio of sites.
Expert	25 sites.	Freelancers managing multiple sites.
One	1 site and 25,000 monthly One credits.	A single site needing Elementor One’s AI tools within that monthly allowance.
One Agency	Unlimited sites and 350,000 monthly One credits.	Agencies with multiple sites and greater monthly AI usage.

Elementor does not publish prices for these paid tiers here, so each has custom pricing. The lower site-count tiers suit narrower portfolios, while Expert and One Agency provide room to manage many sites; the AI plans also differ substantially in monthly credits. Compare the renewal terms and applicable site and credit limits before committing.

Platforms

Elementor is built for WordPress and works with self-hosted WordPress.org and WordPress.com. WordPress.com users need the Business plan to use it. Editing is limited to desktop computers, so teams that need to make changes from phones or tablets should choose another workflow.

Who it's for

Elementor is a strong candidate for WordPress creators, freelancers, and agencies that want visual control over pages and site-wide elements, with WooCommerce support and a wide plugin ecosystem. Its practice-area pages, lawyer profiles, location pages, and resource-library tools also make it relevant to firms building out service and local content.

It is less suitable for people who need to edit on mobile devices, WordPress.com users without the Business plan, or structured-content projects that require custom fields and post types on the Essential tier. Elementor says its platform powers more than 22 million sites and 13% of the web, but adoption figures do not determine whether a particular plan fits a project.

Pros and cons

Pros: The free plugin supplies a real 32-widget editor, so a WordPress user can begin without paying for a subscription.
Pros: Theme, popup, dynamic-content, and WooCommerce tools extend the builder beyond ordinary page layouts.
Pros: The combination of extensive WordPress plugin support and AI creation tools can serve varied site workflows, with higher-credit options for agencies.
Cons: Editing is desktop-only, excluding users who need to work on a phone or tablet.
Cons: Site caps differ across paid plans, and Essential omits custom fields and post types despite including Dynamic Content.
Cons: Annual billing renews at the regular rate, and paid-plan prices are custom pricing, making the renewal cost important to confirm.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison of WordPress tools, see WordPress page builders. Readers building a firm’s site can also compare Law Firm Website Builders; dental practices can consult Dental Website Builders. If the project centers on campaign pages, Landing Page Builders may be a more relevant category, while Website builders spans options beyond WordPress.

Breakdance is worth comparing for users seeking a free self-hosted builder with unlimited websites and basic features. Visual Composer may suit a single-site owner who values a published annual price and a stated set of 300-plus content elements and 200-plus templates. Zion Builder is another self-hosted option with a free tier and free trial. Divi suits readers who prefer a paid plan that explicitly includes unlimited website usage and 24/7 customer support. SeedProd is an alternative for readers comparing a freemium, self-hosted builder with a paid Basic plan for one site. Themify Builder offers a free standalone WordPress plugin that works with third-party themes. Pagelayer is another freemium self-hosted and web option. Brizy AI is worth considering for a web-based AI builder with a free trial and a paid Personal plan for one website.

Verdict

Choose Elementor if you are building on WordPress and want a visual editor with tools for themes, dynamic content, and ecommerce, backed by a free entry tier and options for larger site portfolios. Look elsewhere if mobile editing is essential, or if the plan’s site and structured-content limits do not fit your work; confirm custom pricing and regular-rate renewal terms before selecting a paid tier.
